When Big is Small & Small is Big #ThrowbackThursday

KATIE:  Stick to your own side, Waffles. No encroaching.

WAFFLES:  Uh... what's encroaching, Boss?

KATIE:  Just stay on your side of the food dish, try not to touch me and you won't have to find out, ok?

WAFFLES:  How 'bout a hug, Boss? Does this count as coaching?

KATIE:  Encroaching, Waffles. ENCROACHING. And as a matter of fact, yes. That counts.

Size is All Relative
Those of you that had a chance to meet Katie & Waffles in-the-fur have all said the same thing. That is, after the gasps and shrieks subsided.

"Katie is SO petite!"

"Waffles is HUGE!"

Years ago, Katie was actually up to about 12.5 pounds which was admittedly much too heavy for her girly frame. Sometimes when we post older photos of her, it becomes very apparent. It didn't seem like a lot of extra weight at the time, but now that she's at her ideal weight of about 9.7 pounds, it's easy to see how much healthier and happier she is. She moves with a quick and quiet grace... especially when it comes to the kitchen counters.

Although Waffles is only about one pound heavier than Katie, he's definitely a hunka mancat muscle. While Katie feels light as a feather (you'll have to take Glogirly's word for it since NO ONE picks up Katie other than her or Gloman) Waffles feels almost twice her weight. Must be all those wand toy workouts.

KATIE:  I may be petite on the outside, but let's not forget who's large and in charge. Ok, Waffles?  Waffles???

WAFFLES:  *chomp chomp chomp*

  1. My human says she thought Katie was Just Right when she met her! Waffles, well, he's a big mancat - but he is lanky! People who met me at BlogPaws said I was "dainty." Compared to Sparkle, who was very thin, my human says I feel solid!

  7. There's who's in charge, and then there's who's in charge of the food bowl. That's what counts. -- Ashton (Who doesn't know that the treats are about to get scarcer to keep her petite)

Katie looks great now. Waffles has a taller frame, so he can distribute it further. Ashton envies Newton for that every day at dinnertime.

  14. At about 12.5 lbs I am no longer a lithe mancat MOL Do I detect an easing in hostilities on Katie's side? Or is that just wishful thinking?

  17. My mancat is built like a brick wall as well, and lifting him is an upper body workout. OOF! He's also VERY "food motivated" and extremely determined to get to what he wants. I have to feed him separately, on the other side of a closed, latched door from my other cat so he doesn't get into her food after he's done with his. A few weeks ago he got into the cupboard where I keep--er, kept the Greenies (which I didn't think he knew about) and decided to help himself. The Greenies are now kept in a sealed plastic container you need thumbs to open. HA! Defeat that, piggy cat!

  21. Those are great TBT photos!
I am 12 pounds now but used to be between 14 and 15. Mum would like it if I could put another pound back on but doesn't think it is likely at my age. Twelve pounds is much better than the 9 1/2 pounds I dropped to 6 months ago. Eric was 23 pounds at his heaviest but mum got him down to 19 with dieting. He was much livelier then. It still sounds heavy, but he was a big and tall cat.
