Waffles and the New Years Eve Cat Kiss Attempt

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss, how about a New Years Eve kiss?

KATIE:  How about NOT.

WAFFLES:  But isn't everyone supposed to kiss when the big ball drops?

KATIE:  We're not everyone, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  Sheesh, Boss. I even got all dressed up. Are you sure–

KATIE:  It may be a new year Waffles, but the same rules apply.

Happy New Year!
It's hard to believe this will be our blog's tenth year! Over 2000 posts, 75,000 comments and hopefully even more smiles.

Thank you for welcoming our furry family into your inboxes and hearts. Your love and friendship means the world to us.

With all our love,

Post Christmas Scenes from the Cats

WAFFLES:  How about a Christmas kiss, Boss?

KATIE:  How about NOT.

WAFFLES:  What if I meet you under the missile paws?

KATIE: You mean mistleTOE? Same answer.

WAFFLES:  Fine, Hey Boss, this one totally smells like KFC. Extra crispy. Definitely extra crispy.

KATIE:  Waffles, I'm pretty sure Santa doesn't do his Christmas shopping at KFC.

WAFFLES:  Duh, Boss. He's got elves for that.

KATIE:  Ok, but he's still got to fly all the presents, and in your case fried chicken, from the North Pole to here. In his sleigh. It's going to be way cold by the time it gets here. And definitely not extra crispy.

WAFFLES:  Doesn't he have one of those warmer thingies like the pizza man has?

A Meowy Mountain Christmas
We hope you enjoy a few scenes from our first family Christmas here in the Colorado mountains. We are so very blessed to have a warm roof over our heads, delicious food on our table and presents under our tree. Ok, so our Christmas tree is actually outside and the presents were technically under a table behind the sofa.

We are most thankful though, for the love of family, friends and you, our dear readers. From our hearts to yours, Happy Holidays.

Here are a couple of scenes from our Christmas Eve dinner. In year's past, Waffles got his paws (and teeth) into the beef tenderlioin, but his year the dinner managed to escape his grasp.

Waffles' Figgy Pudding Encore

WAFFLES:
We wish you a Meowy Christmas ♫♩
We wish you a Meowy Christmas ♫♩
We wish you a Meowy Christmas ♫♩
And a–

WAFFLES:  –and a...

WAFFLES:  Uh oh boss, I forget. And a what?

KATIE:  And a Happy New Year ♫♩.

WAFFLES:  Oh yeah. Then what comes next?

KATIE:  Now, bring me some ♫♩–

WAFFLES:
Now bring me some chicken drumsticks ♫♩
Now bring me some chicken drumsticks ♫♩
Now bring me some chicken drumsticks ♫♩

WAFFLES:  And bring them RIGHT HERE ♫♩!

KATIE:  Sorry to break this to you, Waffles. But it's figgy pudding, not chicken drumsticks

WAFFLES:  Figgy Pudding??? Who eats figgy pudding?

KATIE:  Seriously, Waffles. It's just a song. Get ahold of yourself.

WAFFLES:  I bet Santa never had to eat any figgy pudding.

KATIE:  Looks like someone got up on the wrong side of his sleigh.

With Love from the Rocky Mountains
We hope you enjoyed one of our favorite Christmas posts. Waffles and his figgy pudding always makes us giggle.

Our furry family celebrated a wonderful Christmas together yesterday. Lots of turkey, gravy, and love. Glogirly and Gloman were enjoying the Christmas spirit and took this photo from our deck to wish friends and family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

We hope all of our friends and readers have a chance to enjoy the magic of the season. You're in our hearts always.

Love,

Katie, Waffles, Glogirly & Gloman

Meowy Christmas Eve Portrait Session

WAFFLES:  You're in my spot, Boss.

KATIE:  YOUR spot??? This is my spot.

WAFFLES:  Are you sure? Because–

KATIE:  Hurry up, Waffles. Gloman has been waiting forever to take our Christmas portrait.

WAFFLES:  Can you just move over a little, Boss?

KATIE:  Can you just quit trying to climb over me, Waffles?

WAFFLES:  Glogirly, the Boss is being all bossy about our Christmas photos. Can you make her be not so bossy and stuff?

About Today's Photos
Gloman is home for a nice long Christmas visit so we spent a little time over the weekend *attempting* to get a nice Christmas portrait of Katie, Waffles & Glogirly. Of course, when cats are involved, the best-laid plans often take their own direction. We hope you enjoyed a few of our outtakes.

Though Gloman tried to get into some of these shots using a timer, Katie and Waffles had other plans. LOL! We promise to share Glogirly & Gloman's official Mountain Christmas portrait in our next blog post.

Meowy Christmas Eve, Everyone!
We want to thank our friends and readers for welcoming us into your homes, hearts, and inboxes. You're truly like family to us and we're so very grateful for your friendship and love.

We wish you a holiday season filled with laughter, love, family, and friends. May your celebrations also be sprinkled with cherished memories of those who've touched your hearts.

We don't ever want to take for granted how incredibly lucky we are. Our hearts go out to those not as fortunate as us. Those who are hungry, homeless... those who are struggling. With or without fur, you are in our prayers.

With all our Love,
Katie, Waffles, Glogirly & Gloman

Fa-La-Waffles-La

WAFFLES:  Fa-la-la-la-la-la-LA!!! ♩♬

WAFFLES:  So Boss, what does Fa-la-la mean, anyway? Is it like French or something? Maybe French for chicken or some kind of delicious snacks?

KATIE:  It doesn't mean anything, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  No way, Boss. That can't be right. Santa would never write a song about nothing.

KATIE:  Well it worked for Jerry Seinfeld.

About Today's Photos
We've started displaying all the holiday cards we've received from friends, family and fellow blogging cats. And Waffles has taken to displaying himself next to them.

Grocery Bag Blues

KATIE:  Over a dozen grocery bags Glogirly carried in and all I get is this sad, empty one?

WAFFLES:  Bags? Did someone say bags???

KATIE:  Perhaps I can make something of these carrot tops.

WAFFLES:  Carrot tops, schmarrot tops. What about the BAGS, Boss?

About Today's Photos
In anticipation of Gloman's arrival, Glogirly bought out the grocery store today. She filled TWO carts. And we're not talking about those tiny baby-sized carts. But do you suppose there was anything for Katie and Waffles in all those bags?

Not to worry, though. We've got a fresh supply of Katie & Waffles' favorite raw cat food in the freezer. There might be some Cheetos in the snack cabinet too.

Heat Seeking Cats

WAFFLES:  What happened to all the warm spots, Boss? Is Mr. Sun only working half days? Did daylight savings steal all the daylight? One minute its morning, the next its bedtime.

What, are we supposed to sleep all day?

KATIE:  Well, we are cats.

You ask a lot of questions, Waffles. Most of which make no sense at all, though some people might think there's something to your theory of daylight savings stealing a bunch of our daylight. The days will keep getting shorter until the winter solstice.

WAFFLES:  Soul what? You mean like an R&B concert or something? Who's playing?

KATIE:  Do you even know what R&B stands for?

WAFFLES:  Ribs and bacon?

Mmmmm....Warm Spot
When the sun goes into hiding or sets before we've eaten dinner, Katie and Waffles are quick to seek out the "warm spots" in the house. We're very fortunate to have radiant in-floor heat as our primary heat source. That means we have a network of tubes filled with hot water that run underneath our floors. It keeps our toes warm and is pure heaven for cats.

In some areas of the house, typically where the tubes go around/into a corner or through a doorway, it's extra warm because those tubes get closer together than in the middle of a room. So more heat is radiated in those areas. Our heating and plumbing technician (who loves cats by the way, has a wife named Katie, and we call him the Boiler Whisperer) said that cats will instinctively seek out these warm spots.

One of Katie's favorite spots (in the above photo) is right by the doorway to the bedroom. When she rolls over to have her tummy scratched, her fur is SO warm. It's like she's been laying on a heating pad.

The other primo warm spots are in the closet, underneath Glogirly's clothes. Occasionally Katie and Waffles can be seen mere inches apart, soaking up the warmth.

Some Morning Magic
When Mr. Sun rose in the morning, he did so magnificently. The clouds looked like huge puffs of cotton candy.

Calendar Update
Thank you SO much to everyone who ordered one of our new calendars. Tuesday, December 4, was Colorado Gives Day and we donated a portion of each calendar sale to Angels With Paws Cat Rescue & Adoption Center. We chose them because they are a very small rescue organization devoted solely to cats and they rely completely on donations from private individuals like you.

We've sold out of our first batch of calendars and will receive our second batch today. If you'd like to order one, we have a page set up with all the details about cost, donation info, and lots of pictures:

Santa's Watching

WAFFLES:  So Boss, are you sure Santa will find us again this year? I heard he's got some temp elves working for him. What if they mess up our address like the post office always does? Then what???

KATIE:  Santa's technology is WAY better than the post office, Waffles. I'm sure you've got nothing to worry about. Other than being on the naughty list.

WAFFLES:  Naughty list? You mean there's a list???

KATIE:  Yes, AND,  you realize you're on the kitchen counter right now, don't you?

WAFFLES:  But Santa's not even here. How will he ever–

KATIE:  See you when you're sleeping? Know when you're awake? Know when you've been on the kitchen counter?

WAFFLES:  And I thought YOU had eyes in the back of your head.

KATIE:  Santa's like the big brother of Christmas, Waffles.

Getting Ready!
It's Christmas central in the mountain house. Glogirly's making her lists and checking them twice. She's already got a line on who's been naughty and nice. Don't worry though, any naughtiness is instantly erased by cuteness.

It won't be long and Gloman will be driving his sleigh from Minnesota to Colorado. He may have the back packed with presents, but for us, HE is the greatest gift of all. ❤️
