Lazy Cat Days of Summer

WAFFLES:  LOLOL!!! I've been laying on Gloman's lap ALL day!

KATIE:  No kidding, Waffles. Talk about LAZY.

WAFFLES:  Lazy? I'm not lazy.

WAFFLES:  Zzzzz...

KATIE:  Fine. Just hog Gloman's lap and sleep the day away. I'll make sure your dinner doesn't go to waste.

WAFFLES:  Dinner???

Homecoming!
We welcomed home our favorite CatDaddy yesterday. Waffles wasted no time settling in for some quality lap time. If it weren't for Katie letting him know it was mealtime, he'd likely have slept through breakfast, lunch, AND dinner.

Yes, Waffles and Katie get lunch. Three squares a day.

Next, they'll be negotiating an allowance.

Half In The Grocery Bag

WAFFLES:  Hey, Boss! I can't find the chicken. Did you see where Glogirly put the chicken?

KATIE:  Nope. Nothing here but this green stuff. Tastes terrible, but it might work for floor hockey.

WAFFLES:  I'm holding out for the chicken.

KATIE:  You're going to be holding out for a long time, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  Like a few minutes long time? Or a few years long time?

KATIE:  Well, when's the last time Glogirly gave you a whole chicken from the grocery store? On purpose?

 About Today's Photos
Today's the big grocery shop day. Glogirly's been making her list and checking it twice. Whenever Gloman comes home, she tries to plan a few special meals. And breakfast. Lots and lots of breakfast. And snacks. Always snacks.

Despite Waffles' nose for chicken, he's actually far more interested in the bags. He's always been a half-in-the-bag kind of kitty. LOL!

Tell Tale (or Tail) Guest Book

KATIE:  The guest book is out. You know what that means.

WAFFLES:  And Glogirly's doing a LOT of vacuuming. She almost vacuumed me right off my chair.

KATIE:  Your chair? What do you mean, YOUR chair?

WAFFLES:  Well, my blanket ON my chair.

KATIE:  Perhaps if I hide the pen, no one can write it the guest book. And if no one can write in the guest book, no one can sleep in the guest bed. And if no one can sleep in the guest bed–

WAFFLES:  But wait! I already called firsties on bed making and luggage inspections.

Incoming!
Glogirly is already busy making preparations for our June and July houseguests. Now that the weather is finally starting to look like summer, it's going to be a revolving door here in our mountain house.

And that's just fine with Waffles. He LOVES visitors. Especially the kind that wear cat hair and are happy to share the guest bed with him.

Katie...not so much. Though she takes every opportunity she can, when no one is looking, to perform the most thorough of luggage and guest room inspections.

But before the houseguests start arriving, our favorite cat daddy is coming HOME for a nice long visit! Gloman will be jetting here later this week for the 4th of July holiday. There's bound to be a couple of dinner parties with local friends, hummingbird photo shoots, and plenty of R&R time too.

Boxing In the Bathtub

WAFFLES:  Hey, Boss! How about a boxing match?

KATIE:  What do you mean, Waffles... right here in the bathtub? And speaking of bathtubs, how did you manage to drag your box into the tub anyway?

WAFFLES:  So whattaya say, Boss? Do you wanna box?

KATIE:  You mean, do I WANT a box? You know I don't like boxes so NO,  I don't want a box. I don't WANNA one either.

WAFFLES:  Awww, c'mon Boss! You KNOW you wanna.

KATIE:  You mean like this?

WAFFLES:  Wow, Boss! I didn't think you had it in you.

WAFFLES:  Boss?

About Today's Photos
Today's photos are from WAY back in 2013 when Waffles was just a little over a year old. Funny how some things never change. Katie and Waffles still exchange the occasional right hook.

Waffles Wednesday Fairy Tail

WAFFLES:  Once upon a–   Wait a minute. Boss, what's it upon again?

KATIE:  Time, Waffles. It's once upon a time. You know, like a fairy tale.

WAFFLES:  Oh yeah. Once upon a time...yadda, yadda. Hey, how do you like my fairy wings, Boss?

KATIE:  Fairy wings? Those look like butterfly wings to me.

WAFFLES:  These aren't butterfly wings. They're FAIRY wings. Everyone knows that.

KATIE:  Those look like butterfly wings to me.

WAFFLES:  Fairy wings! Fairy wings!

KATIE:  Fine. Whatever, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  And this is my fairy tail.

About that Tail...
Waffles' 15" tail is no fairy tale!

Belated Cat Daddy's Day Wishes

WAFFLES:  Us men have to stick together.

You know, to do man-stuff like online shopping for, well... man-stuff.

KATIE:  Yeah, well don't blow your allowance all at once, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  Allowance? What allowance? Do you get an ALLOWANCE, Boss?

KATIE:  What do you think, Gloman? Should I tell him I get an allowance or not?

WAFFLES:  So, Gloman? Does the Boss really get an allowance?  Because I'd really like to have an allowance too. Does KFC take allowances? For chicken and gravy and stuff?

KATIE:  What's that, Gloman? I couldn't agree more. The less he knows the better. And with Waffles, that should come easy.

WAFFLES:  So about that allowance stuff...

Happy Cat Daddy's Day
Today's photos are some of our past favorites of Gloman with his favorite kitties. Although he couldn't be with us to officially celebrate Fathers Day, he's going to be here very soon. Everyone, including Glogirly, will be getting in their snuggle time with our favorite Cat Daddy.

For all of you lucky cats with Cat Daddies in your life, we hope you enjoyed a wonderful Father's Day. And to all those Cat Daddies out there - thank you so much for sharing your hearts and homes with your furry family members.

A Special Day of Remembrance for Glogirly
32 years ago tomorrow, a very special woman left our family and this world. Despite all these years, it still can feel so fresh. It heavies my heart to think of all the milestones she's missed. And all the everyday, ordinary moments that make a life.

I can't believe I've lived more years without my mom than with her. But I am truly blessed with wonderful memories that still live strong in my heart. I will always be my mother's daughter. Forever.

And to my Dad... I will never forget that Father's Day, just three days after we lost Mom. You'd lost your best friend and the love of your life, but your main concern was me. It was the beginning of our new normal and what would become for me, one of the most important and closest relationships of my life. You continue to influence me every single day. And I will always be your little girl.

Eye Spy With My Little Cat Eye

WAFFLES:  I spy with my little cat eye... something black and white!

KATIE:  Waffles, I'm so not in the mood to have your little eye spying on me. Can't you see I'm busy?

WAFFLES:  Aww, c'mon Boss. It'll be fun. I'll eye spy something that's black and white and then you can eye spy something that's orange.

KATIE:  I see enough orange every minute of every hour of every day. How about we just eye spy the insides of our eyelids for a while?

WAFFLES:  It's not working, Boss. I can't eye spy anything with my eyes closed.

About Today's Photos
Waffles is one of the most curious cats we've ever met. As huge as his fascination is with the kitchen cupboards and bathroom doors, that's nothing compared to his fascination with KatieWherever she goes, so too does Waffles. He follows her everywhere. Even if it's only with his eyes.

That's One HUGE Litter Box!

WAFFLES:  OMG, Boss! Glogirly is digging in her litter box outside. And it's HUGE! Way bigger than ours.

KATIE:  That's not a litter box, Waffles. She's working in the perennial garden in front of the house.

WAFFLES:  I don't know, Boss. That's a LOT of dirt. And she's digging around in it like she has to go or something.

KATIE: Seriously, Waffles. I really doubt Glogirly is going to use her flower bed as a, well... you know.

WAFFLES:  She's squatting, Boss! She's squatting!

KATIE:  Pretty sure she's just pulling weeds, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  Now she's covering something up!

WAFFLES:  This gardening stuff looks pretty fishy if you ask me.

KATIE:  I guess it's a good thing I didn't ask you.

Digging Up Dirt
Now that the spring snowstorms are finally behind us, Glogirly is spending lots of time outside getting her ready for some beautiful blooming. She's also been putting the final touches on her container annuals.

All that digging around, right in front of the kitchen and dining room windows, had Waffles a little concerned though!

It's still a little early up at 8,000 feet for things to be in full bloom. Once things start looking pretty-pretty we'll be sure to share some photos.
