Indie Kitty

Hi everyone, Katie here.

I'm being featured today on the IndieSmiles.com website! In fact, I'm their OFFICIAL mascot.

Indie Smiles is a place for news and notes about handmade shops, marketing & business tips, Indie shop reviews, interviews and more. Indie Smiles also features off topic articles on how handmade (Indie) teams are making a difference with their charity and community work.

Indie Smiles reporter Linda GJ and I sat down for a little one-on-one time so she could get to know me. The REAL me. You know... what makes an Indie Cat like me tick. She has just published a featurette and slideshow on the Indie Smiles website and it's all about me! Much of the content was taken directly from our exclusive interview. So of COURSE, it's fascinating.

Be sure to stop by Indiesmiles.com to check it out.

CAT-O-LYMPICS Results Recap

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Well the events have come to a close. It's been quite a week! A special thank mew to Jim, Bob and Fin for their comprehensive daily updates and commentaries.

I have to admit, the ice skating moments are my favorites. As much as I loved getting wrapped up in the American flag with Shaun, you just can't beat a pair of shiny white skates with tassels. Just take a peek at some of my "HOW-DID-KATIE-DO-THAT!" highlights:

click to biggify!

What??? Glogirly, did I hear you correctly? There was never a REAL competition? What??? There are no LOSERS, just WINNERS? What do you mean EVERYONE gets an award? But, but... what about my freestyle ski acrobatics? What about my triple toe loop? What about my buddy, Shaun White and the half pipe? The curling, the bobsledding, the luging?

Well that's a fine how-do-you-do.

I had all my endorsements lined up too. I'm on a first name basis with Arm & Hammer. And the Meow Mix people are chomping at the bit.

This could have been my Special Olympian Edition Super Scoop Box.

And here I am on what could have been the
Meow Mix Think Like An Olympian Cat Red Carpet.

Fine.

I'll get my own stinkin' medals.

Live from Minneapolis, this is Katie. Over and out.

CAT-O-LYMPICS Day Six

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Bet you didn't expect Day Six now did you! There are just too many amazing Olympian moments for me to squeeze into five short days. And because I am a young and hip cat, I just had to include snowboarding.

That's me doing the half pipe above. I know, awesome form.

Whoooooaaaa! Most cats catch mice.
I catch air. Major air.

Here's me and my good friend, Shaun White.
I'm pretty sure he's going to dedicate his gold medal to me.

Enjoy the events today everyone! I want to give another special shout out to my good friend Fin from Housecat Confidential. Finny created the Cat-O-Lympics venue for us. And a special thank you to YOU for joining me this week for "HOW-DID-KATIE-DO-THAT!"

Glogirly is coming home from the frozen Floridian tundra tonight. I'm expecting tons of treats, gifts and attention. ...not to mention a pile of gold medals. The cat sitter is still alive, although shaken.

Still alive (and alone for a few more hours) from Minneapolis, this is Katie. Over and out.

CAT-O-LYMPICS Day Five

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Well it's day five! I bet you've been wondering what could possibly top yesterday's figure skating. Why sledding of course! Doesn't matter if it's the luge, the bobsled or the townhouse hardwood floor...
I can slip, slide and sled with the best of them.

Here I am in my personalized bobsled.
I'm an excellent driver.

And the luge... Wheeeeeeeeeee!

After my sledding, I built a snow sculpture honoring the week's festivities. I know, I know... you didn't realize I'm a sculptor.
Just full of surprises here.
(Gloman says I'm full of something else.)

Enjoy the events today everyone! I want to give another special shout out to my good friend Fin from Housecat Confidential. Finny created the Cat-O-Lympics venue for us. And a special thank you to YOU for joining me this week for "HOW-DID-KATIE-DO-THAT!"

Glogirly says she's leaving the frozen Florida tundra soon. That means I've only got a couple more days to hiss at the cat sitter. ...now if only THAT were an Olympic event!

Still alive (and alone) from Minneapolis, this is Katie. Over and out.

CAT-O-LYMPICS Day Four

Hi everyone, Katie here.

I know you've been anxiously awaiting my Olympic skating debut. What will Katie wear? What jumps will she perform? Will she go classical or modern? Will she dominate the short program, the long program or the free skate? Will she grant an exclusive interview to Scott Hamilton?

Sources close to Katie indicate she's still considering
an exclusive sit down with Hamilton.

I wowed the judges with each of my programs. Although skiing is exhilarating, hockey exciting and curling so, well, curly... I must say it's figure skating that moves me. It allows me to tap into my inner performance artist and tell a story through movement and athletic grace.

I'm graceful as a ballerina during the long program.
My marabou feathers add a distinct yet
delicate femininity to my performance.
Plus they make great toys.

I nail the compulsory moves here.
Eye contact with the judges is key.

Modern, dramatic and completely Katie.
The Free Skate is my swan song.

Enjoy the events today everyone! I want to give another special shout out to my good friend Finny over at Housecat Confidential for creating the Cat-O-Lympics venue. Glogirly is still in freezing Florida, but I plan on being back tomorrow with more "HOW-DID-KATIE-DO-THAT!" Olympian photos.

CAT-O-LYMPICS Day Three

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Welcome back to my "HOW-DID-KATIE-DO-THAT!" Photo Event! I bet you thought Daisy was the only curly cat out there in the blogosphere! Well my furs may not be curly, but today I'm Katie the Curling Cat.

Glogirly and I have been in close contact via remote satellite. (She's still down in Florida freezing her you-know-what.) She didn't even know I was a curling cat until she saw the photos.

Glogirly: Don't get any ideas here.
This broom is meant for curling and ONLY curling.

WOW! If I'm going to whap THIS cat toy around,
I better step up my workout routine.

Enjoy the events today everyone! I want to give a special shout out to my good friend Fin over at Housecat Confidential for creating the Cat-O-Lympics venue. I hope to be back tomorrow with more "HOW-DID-KATIE-DO-THAT!" Olympian photos. Next up... ice skating!

CAT-O-LYMPICS Day Two

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Welcome to the "HOW-DID-KATIE-DO-THAT!" Photo Event, currently in progress. Today I'm playing ice hockey. This is no ordinary ice cube on the kitchen floor nonsense. This is the real deal.

Glogirly is still galavanting around Florida so we are communicating remotely to piece together my blog. I'm concerned she'll screw it all up. Girls, you know.

Ok Glogirly: Put the action shot of me guarding the goal HERE.
Proof that I can be in two, three, even four places at once.
Only a cat could pull this off.

GG: Now put my cool hockey fashion shot here.
Check out this great outfit.
Nice pads, I know. Looks like I've been working out.

Glogirly: Put the moody, out of focus, net shot here.
Proof that even hockey can be artistic.

Enjoy the events today everyone! I hope to be back tomorrow with more "HOW-DID-KATIE-DO-THAT!" Olympian photos!

CAT-O-LYMPICS Day One

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Well Glogirly is off visiting Florida now. I bet she is wishing she had my black & white fur coat!

It's CAT-O-LYMPICS week! I'm so excited that my friend Fin over at Housecat Confidential is hosting this big event. As you know, I snuck some of my favorite "HOW-DID-KATIE-DO-THAT!" photos onto Glogirly's laptop before she left town. So let's just see if she gets this right.

Hey Glogirly: Put the cool photo of me catching some big air in the freestyle ski competition HERE. I'm an excellent freestyle air catcher.

Glogirly: Ok now, this is where I want my apres ski shot.
Don't screw it up.

Enjoy the events today everyone! I hope to be back with more "HOW-DID-KATIE-DO-THAT!" Olympian photos!

Alone Again, Naturally

Hi everyone, Katie here.

I'm just hanging out here in the townhouse... waiting for the dreaded cat sitter to show up so I can hiss at her. Glogirly and Gloman are off to Florida for the week. I'm so sorry I have not been able to say hi and comment on your wonderful blogs, but believe me it's not MY fault. Just blame it on Glogirly. Between her swimsuit shopping and airbrush tanning she's been no help at all to me.

I have snuck a few of my favorite sports photos onto her laptop and threatened to hold the cat sitter hostage if Glogirly doesn't comply and allow me to participate in next week's Cat-O-Lympics over at Finny's place.

So please forgive my absence... remember it's GG not me...

I swear, I need my own laptop.

Resume' Resume' Resume'

Hi everyone, Katie here.

This has been a trying week for me. My girl seems to think there is more to life than hanging out with me all day, catering to my every need and whim. So she's been hogging all the computers in the townhouse, day and night, working on resumes. With Gloman out of town, I may as well be living out on the streets. I'm lucky if she finds her way to my food dish. Litterbox maintenance... well let's not even go there. In fact, if things don't change, I just might not GO there either.

Since my catly charms have done nothing to distract my girl, I've decided to help in the best way I can. I've prepared a sample resume' of my own so she can see just how simple it really is.

biggify to see how impressive MY resume is

There. Now hurry up and stop already. I'm waiting.

Pee. S. As if this week wasn't just a slap in the whiskers... would you believe the suitcases are coming out of the closet? Lots and lots of laundry. Stacks of t-shirts, shorts. Even sandals are showing their straps. This is not looking good for me. I smell Cat Sitter.

There is talk of a Florida vacation. But, but, what about the Cat-O-Lympics??? What about my blogging friends??? Sadly, I may be somewhat incommunicado next week. So please, please, please don't forget about me. I'm going to slip a few ideas into Glogirly's laptop case and cross my paws that she at least posts a couple of my award winning Olympian photos for you.

I hate goodbyes.

And The Oscar Goes To

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Bet you didn't know I've been keeping company with the likes of Meryl Streep, Helen Mirren... Sure, Meryl may have lost count of how many friends named Oscar she has. And Mirren, well she's an award winning Queen. Did you know Prince Charles even made her a Dame?

But it is ME that deserves an award for my convincing and moving portrayal of an affectionate cat devoted to her girl.

Just look at this scene. Now THIS is award winning acting. I'm a method actor. I'm in the zone, playing an affectionate and loving cat. I bet you can hardly tell I'm acting at all. I'm not sleeping either... I'm concentrating on the moment, and my character's thought process.

If you read that accusatory dribble Glogirly called a Guest Blog over on I Have Cat a couple weeks ago, you already know that I am a skilled manipulator of human behavior. I've got Glogirly thinking I don't like her and in fact, favor Gloman.

Well the truth is, I play Glogirly. I play Gloman.
And I love it.

Playing the two of them is what gets me up in the morning. I love making HER think that I depend upon her soley for caloric sustenance and litter box maintenance. I love making HIM think I'm a gullible and obedient dog-cat... coming when he calls, rolling over, fetching.

This is me, messing with Gloman. Pretending to be a dog.
Just another act.

Devoted BFF. Yup, just another act.

Every once in awhile I put on a show for Glogirly. I give her that devoted BFF bullfluff just to keep her guessing and maintain my sharp acting skills.

So move over, Mirren.
Step aside, Streep.
I have my acceptance speech ready.
