While the Kitties Sleep –

Glogirly took full advantage of the beautiful Colorado mountains this past week. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. She spent every day at our local ski area, Eldora Mountain Resort. It's just a quick 30 minutes from home so it's practically like driving to the grocery store. Except way more fun.

(Yes, we know this is a CAT blog and not a ski blog...but we did lead off with a pretty cute Ellie-Waffles photo. Thanks for indulging Glogirly.)

Christmas in January with the Family

WAFFLES:  I'm on guest bed duty, Ellie. You're on your own. ...Ellie??

ELLIE:  And I'm on play duty, Mr. Waffles. This is WAY more fun than a boring guest bed. 

WAFFLES:  BORING??? Do I look bored? 

ELLIE:  Well you kind of do, Mr. Waffles.

WAFFLES:  Well not really, but I'm sure it's got something to do with super handsome.

Christmas in January

Glogirly and Gloman's son and daughter-in-law flew into Colorado from Minnesota late last week for a belated Christmas celebration. Waffles took FULL advantage of the gift bags and tissue. 

And when we say full, we mean full!

Ellie got in on the paper fun too.

A big highlight for Glogirly was taking Gabe and Justina to Arapahoe Basin for some fun on the snow! This is the first time they've skied and snowboarded together. And for sure, not the last!

Six Years Ago Today - We're Mountain Cats!!!

Exactly six years ago today, Glogirly loaded up the SUV with suitcases, bags, Katie & Waffles, and a whole lot of cat food. With Minneapolis in the rearview mirror, she headed west to what would become our new forever home nestled in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. 

For nearly four long years, Gloman trekked back and forth between MN and CO to visit his girl and the kitties. Then finally in late 2020, he put Minneapolis in the rear view mirror as well. 

Much has happened since that first long drive. So many wonderful memories and adventures. Smiles, laughter, wildlife peering in the windows, FedEx and UPS trucks stuck in the driveway snow. Tears too. Especially when we had to say goodbye to our dear Katie. And great joy as we welcomed Ellie into our family.

We thought you might enjoy one of Katie and Waffles' first conversations just after we arrived in Colorado. 

WAFFLES:  Uh, Boss...the neighbors are here. They're staring at me.

KATIE:  Well for Cod's sake, don't let them in. We have no idea who or even what they are. Now get out of the window. You don't want to encourage them.

WAFFLES:  Maybe they need some encouragement. You can do it, funny looking neighbors! You can do it!

KATIE:  If they ring the doorbell, I'm SO under the bed. 

WAFFLES:  They're coming closer, Boss!

KATIE: Oh wait... there IS no bed. All we have is this flimsy sleeping bag.

So where exactly are Katie & Waffles???

A bunch of you guessed and a couple of you even got it right. We're in Colorado! High up in the mountains at 8,333 feet.  ...that's a LOT of feet!

So you're probably wondering what we're doing in Colorado, besides spying on the funny looking neighbors and napping in sleeping bags. Well the big news is...we bought a house in the mountains.

WAFFLES:  Wait. What???

Think of it like a cabin. So now we're not only Minneapolis Cats, we're Colorado Cats too -  Mountain Cats!

We're waiting for the moving truck to arrive. It still hasn't made it down our super steep driveway, but we hear tomorrow is the big day. And there'll be untold numbers of...wait for it...BOXES!

Ski Like a CatGirl

Glogirly wants to thank our dear friends and readers for their well wishes over the past week. Nurse Ellie and Dr. Waffles have been hard at work helping their girl recover from her New Years Bronchitis. And they are pleased to report that after nearly two weeks, Glogirly is feeling like herself again. So much so that she's planning on strapping on her skis again.

Shortly before she got sick, her bestest CatGirl friend from Kansas, Lisa, came out to Colorado for a visit. Glogirly's been working on convincing to get out and ski with her for over a year now. And after a THIRTY year hiatus, Lisa braved the ski slopes! We thought you'd enjoy a couple of photos and quick video from one of their days out at our local ski area, Eldora Mountain Resort.

Lisa and her ski instructor are on the chairlift right behind Glogirly. After a 3 hour lesson and some increasing winds and crowds, the two catgirls called it a day and went back to the mountain house to nurse their sore muscles and celebrate Christmas.

The day after Christmas, they were back at it! It was a beautiful day and they had a great time practicing what the instructor shared with them and skiing just for fun. 

Glogirly is SO proud of her friend! It's not easy getting on skis after three decades and Lisa made it look easy!

WAFFLES:  Ok, Ellie! Glogirly needs you...wait, why is everything so LOUD?!

ELLIE:  Probably on account of your yelling into your stethoscope thingy. 

WAFFLES:  I thought this was a megaphone...WOAH! Still loud!

ELLIE:  I'll handle it, Mr., I mean Dr. Waffles. She needs toys and treats and apple juice and kleenex and stuff.

WAFFLES:  Ok, Ellie. Don't get scared if she coughs and sneezes. It's crazy loud. She kind of sounds like a monster.

ELLIE:  What do you mean, Mr. Dr. Waffles? You're the one that's always scared of sneezes and coughs. Besides, us nurses are very brave. It's just Glogirly. 

Ringing in the New Year With Bronchitis

While everyone was getting ready to watch the ball drop, clink their champagne glasses, and say goodbye to 2022, Glogirly spent New Years Eve in urgent care. Diagnosis - Acute Bronchitis. So the kitties and Gloman have been doing their best to make sure she has everything she needs. Of course her first concern is when she'll feel well enough to ski again. But everyone is forcing her to take a few days off. 

We're thinking most of our friends will understand the Dr. Welby reference...but then again, that might just give away Glogirly's age. LOL!

For the record, Waffles IS scared of sneezes and coughs. Even the ordinary ones.
