SuperCat!

Today's blog post is one of our favorites from 2020, shortly after Miss Ellie Belly became part of our family. It's one of our fur-favorites and we hope you enjoy it too! Ellie has grown up quite a bit since these photos, but she's still a little peanut compared to Waffles in all his mancatly glory!

ELLIE:  Hey, Mister Waffles. I bet you can't catch me!

WAFFLES:  Did she seriously just say that?

ELLIE:  Bet you can't! Bet you can't!

WAFFLES:  Oh yeah? I'm like Supercat. I can leap tall scratching posts in a single bound.

ELLIE:  Did you say SUPERCAT???

WAFFLES:  Single bound, Ellie. Single bound.

ELLIE:  Just a little higher...almost there.

WAFFLES:  Almost is still just almost.

ELLIE:  Only a tiny bit more...if I could just...

WAFFLES:  Here, let me give you a paw.

ELLIE:  Hey, wait a minute! Where'd you go? Supercat???

About Today's Photos
Waffles has been hard at work teaching Ellie how to use the scratching post. She's starting to understand the scratching aspect of it all, but hasn't yet managed to make it to the top. She wants to SOOO badly! Glogirly even put a smaller scratcher next to the pole to help her, but she's still just a little too tiny to make it to the summit.

Soon, Ellie Belly. Soon you'll be a Supercat too.

Three Years - Remembering Katie

WAFFLES:  Hello, earth to Boss! Are you there, Boss? Come in, Boss.

WAFFLES:  It's been two whole years since we had to say goodbye. I know Glogirly still really misses you, Boss. She says there will never be another cat like you.

I want you to know that the present you sent her has helped make her heart happy again. Ellie even looks a little bit like you, Boss. I told her she can't tell me what to do though because YOU'LL always be the Boss. But I've been teaching her stuff like how to watch the birds and bunnies, how to chase bugs. I even taught her how to play fetch and sit on Gloman's lap.

Sometimes I try to steal her breakfast, you know, like I used to do with you. And she even lets me, just like you did.

WAFFLES:  I know you're not coming back, Boss. But this will always be your home and we'll always be your family.

PS - I'm still taking good care of your frog toy and the purple fuzzy heart.

Three Years
In Glogirly's words...
Three years ago we said goodbye to our sweet Katie girl. I think about her everyday as the wind softly blows through the pine trees and her wind chime sings its beautiful song.

I'm so grateful to have been able to share Katie with our friends and readers. When I'm missing her, I just come here and find so many wonderful memories though the pages of our blog and the kind comments left by so many of you.

It's hard to believe it will soon be three years that sweet Ellie joined our family. Thank you for welcoming her into your hearts and inboxes. She's pure joy and a such gift to our family. I think Katie is smiling.

Forever loved.
Forever missed.

Waffles is Counting the Minutes

WAFFLES:  It's 4:43.  Where is every buddy?

ELLIE:  What do you mean, Mr. Waffles?

WAFFLES:  We're going to STARVE. It's 4:44 and no one is home. You better get over here. We may need to coordinate an assault on the big fridge.

ELLIE:  I'm kind of busy, Mr. Waffles. There's butterflies and stuff.

WAFFLES:  Dinner is WAY more important than butterflies, Ellie.

ELLIE:  But there's all kinds of cool smells and bugs. It's all breezy too. Don't worry, it's not windy. I know you're scared of the wind.

WAFFLES:  That's it. It's 5:01. We're doomed. You need to take this seriously, Ellie. Enough with the windows and breezy bugs already...

ELLIE:  Mmmmm, this one smells really good.

WAFFLES:  ELLIE!!!

ELLIE:  You don't have to panic, Mr. Waffles. Glogirly's outside digging around in her big litter box, I mean garden, and she said she'd come inside super soon.

WAFFLES:  Super soon? You mean like seconds? Minutes? Hours? DAYS???

About Today's Photos

Everything is finally blooming up in the mountains and Glogirly has been hard at work prepping her perennial garden. Or as Ellie likes to put it, digging around in her gigantic litter box. Gloman has been traveling for a few days so the daily meal service is up to Glogirly. Sometimes she's outside until 4:30 or 5:00 which is apparently cause for concern when it comes to Waffles. LOL!

The Great Moth Hunters

WAFFLES:  Be very, very still, Ellie.

ELLIE:  Why, Mr. Waffles? What are being still for?

WAFFLES:  We're on the hunt.

ELLIE:  What are we hunting, Mr. Waffles?

WAFFLES:  Careful, Ellie. No sudden moves.

ELLIE:  It's a bird! It's a plane! It's, it's–

WAFFLES:  It's SUPER MOTH!

ELLIE:  What's a super moth, Mr. Waffles?

WAFFLES:  It's the most giantest of the giant moths.

ELLIE:  How giant is giantest?

WAFFLES:  Known to grab eight pound grey and white cats named Ellie and fly off with them.

ELLIE:  I don't know, Mr. Waffles. He looks pretty small to me. Looks like a bug with baby wings.

About Today's Photos

It's officially spring moth season here in the mountains. A small few have started to make their way into the house through tiny unknown openings. It won't be long and they'll be hanging out in the evenings by the windows too.

Waffles and Ellie LOVE moth hunting. The bathroom windows seem to attract more of these flying friends than any other windows. Lucky for the outside moths, there's a heavy duty screen keeping them safe and out of reach. In fact, that probably makes the hunt even more fun.
