Waffles Wednesday: I'm King of the World!

Um, hi everybuddy. Waffles here.

Over the holidays, Glogirly took the plunge. I'm not exactly sure what she meant by that on account of I've never seen her in a bathing suit and it's –20° outside.

I overheard her telling Gloman that if I had something to climb on really super high, that maybe I would forget how fun it is to jump up on the kitchen counter and the stove.

The first time she saw this system on Hauspanther, she knew she had to have it. It's something called an IKEA-hack. IKEA is that big blue and yellow store with furniture and stuff that's really hard to put together on account of the directions are in Swedish. An IKEA-hack is usually something clever a designer thinks up using their own products combined with some IKEA pieces.

"Where's Charlie Rascal, (the Swedish blogging cat) when I need him???"  Glogirly kept asking direction book.

Hollywood Franklin Cat Tower
The carpeted climbing shelves are from Franklin Cat Furniture in California. They designed them to work with the Stoleman suspension pole and brackets from IKEA.

What Glogirly loves SO much about it is how cool it looks in the Townhouse. It's modern and clean and matches our colors and style. What I love is how I can climb ... all the way up to the ceiling. It doesn't get any higher than that!

A Vest Mint?
Glogirly says it's a vest mint, I mean investment. It's like buying a piece of nice furniture. Franklin had a special sale during the holidays though which helped a lot.

This isn't an official product review or anything, we just wanted to show you how cool it is.

Assembly Required
It took a while for Glogirly to get it all assembled... the Franklin pieces were pretty easy to work with. The IKEA stuff, well...let's just say there were some HBO words involved. And then a handyman showed up a couple of days later.

But it all came together and now I have my very own stairway to the sky!

What Does The Boss Think?
The Boss isn't much for heights, so she's only been up about a third of the way when Gloman lured her with a treat.  But Glogirly says that's okay because my new stairway is supposed to make me leave the Boss alone and forget about how much fun it is to bother her.

Little does she know, I have a really good memory.

Here's what it looks like in our dining room. The room is open to the rest of the Townhouse so I can see EVERYTHING from up there. Even the neighbors. Can you find ME in this picture?

I can't touch the Boss from up here, but I can sure watch her!

  3. That looks SO cool! Sadly, our house has vaulted ceilings, so even if my human got Dan the Handyman out here ('cause no way could my human do it on her own), I don't think we could have your awesome setup, Waffles. :-(

  4. Oh that is very cool looking. Our cat tree is a cheap one that will probably need to be replaced in a few years and looks like carpet. But then again, the Woman looks kind of like that too so many it's a style?

  34. Love Hauspanther! They hosted a giveaway for me once; super to work with.

Waffles you are one super lucky boy to have so much nice kitty stuff in your home. If only my Lucy liked high places I would try this too to keep her from maybe pestering poor Peyton, but Lucy also has a good memory!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. So very cool!!!!! Meowm can't decide which one of us would use this more!

    ReplyDelete
  36. OMC! That thing is totally PAWSOME, Waffles! It goes all the way to the ceiling?! Really??? We SO want one of those! :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. So, Waffles, here's the key question: if you were used to using the drapes to reach the top of the room, would you give them up to use this tower instead? And, if you would, would you still leap through the airwell into the human's office and go online and order live lab rats?

Because, if I can't do that, I'm not giving up the drapes for one of these towers. Thank you for your advice, my friend!

  42. It is so high it is great. It's good like climbing the outdoor trees but better because you have it indoors. I saw you under the table.

    ReplyDelete
  43. You have mum singing ::covers ears with paws::

There's a Kittie who's sure all that glitters is gold
And he's buying the stairway to heaven
When he gets there he knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word he can get what he came for
Ooh, ooh, and he's buying the stairway to heaven.

That is really cool but we still like to be on the counters and stove. Nothing seems to stop us.

We don't have IKEA here, and we can only imagine what the shipping cost would be fir that thing. Have fun Waffles. You are a lucky kitty. 51. Wow, whatta treee!! It really does go with Glogirly's decor. We have coveted one, but our mom is resisting. We have REALLY high ceilings, so I don't know if it would work. Plus, mom says she is on hold as far as buying more cat furniture. We would really enjoy that tree! Lucky you.
