She identified with Piglet's quiet and shy nature. He seemed something of an underdog, but with Pooh by his side anything was possible. They shared a love and friendship that resonates in her heart today.
In fact, it's Piglet's untainted innocence that in many ways inspires how she writes Waffles' voice.
Probably her favorite Pooh-Piglet conversation goes something like this -
Piglet sidled up to
Pooh from behind.
"Pooh!" he whispered.
"Yes, Piglet?"
"Nothing," said Piglet.
"I just wanted
to be sure of you."
Someday, she hopes to imagine Waffles and Katie sharing that same exchange.

ReplyDeleteUm...Pooh Sticks? We wonder about aunt Connie sometimes.... ;-)
DeleteWait -- did our mom just demonstrate to the world that we're totally illiterate? (yes, oh woe is us -- she never read A.A. Milne as a child...)
DeleteI had the joy of seeing the actual Pooh sticks bridge! It was very lovely.

My human's favorite book was Dr. Doolittle, which kind of makes sense too.
ReplyDeleteWinnie the Pooh is my favourite too! I have a little stuffed Winnie. He'll be with me forever. I think Waffles and Katie has these tender conversations without Glogirly knowing.

Winnie the Pooh was meowmeowmans' favorite book as a small child, too. He even had a stuffed Pooh bear that he took everywhere. What adventures they had together. :)

These photos are so heartwarming. Our mom loves Winnie and Pooh. He and Tigger are her favorites, which is why she has tattoos of each. Waffles is a good Tigger look-a-like! XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteThose graphics are both SO beautiful...the purr-fect quotes for our beloved pets.

Awww! The Staff loves Winnie-the Pooh! She's even got it in Latin and Hebrew!! She says her favourite character is Eeyore! Figures! MOL
ReplyDeleteTW doesn’t think she ever read Winnie the Pooh but she knows all the characters. Her fave books growing up were Charlotte’s Web and Jenny Lind and Her Listening Cat. It wasn’t until very recently when she found out there really was a Jenny Lind.
ReplyDeleteYeah, me and mum like spending time together.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is so sweet! And so was Winnie the Pooh and all his friends. Did you ever read The Wind in the Willows?
ReplyDeleteThat was one of Parental Unit's very first and favorite books...
Piglet is really cute. I always liked him, too.
