KATIE: I'd heard stories about places like this. Tales of tall shelves lined with delicious treats.
KATIE: Wand toys and feathers and catnip mice aplenty.
KATIE: And WILD animals. Uncaged, small people with sticky fingers throwing something Glogirly calls a tantrum. I sure hope we're not bringing any of those home!
Since Katie has done so well on the recent trips and vacations we've taken, Glogirly decided it was high time to introduce her to the big box store with the bright blue shopping carts. Waffles has been many times, but this was Katie's virgin voyage.
She did great. She was calm, curious, interested and even let a few people talk to her and pet her. She was the feline star of the food aisle. We're always very careful though because this is new territory for Katie. Glogirly is very protective and takes time to show people the right way to approach and pet Katie. Very slow, from below her head and allowing her to first sniff their fingers.
It was Saturday so there was a lot of barking going on what with the adoption events and training. But that didn't even seem to phase Katie.
The toddler tantrums in the checkout lane...now that was a different story. Glogirly and Katie retreated to the back of the store until it was deemed safe to complete their purchases and exit. Sometimes the biggest sounds can come out of the smallest packages!
Based on how great Katie did, we're seeing more shopping excursions in her future.
Great job Katie!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome, Katie! I'm so excited for you! Shopping with your human is fun - and you get first dibs on the toys.
ReplyDeleteHooray for Katie. To be honest, I retreat to the back of the store when there are tantrums in the checkout line. Toddler or adult.....
ReplyDeleteWay to go Katie!
ReplyDeleteThat's great, Katie! We don't like tantrums either ......
ReplyDeleteKatie, you've been doing so well since your change of diet! You are like a different kitty!! xxx

I continue to be amazed at Katie's confidence!
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Katie. And we don't blame you about the little sticky people throwing tantrums. Those people freak us out, too.
ReplyDeleteWow, Katie! That's impressive!!
ReplyDeleteSuch an adventurous brave girl! I hope there were kitty treats at the checkout. It always bothers me to see the free dog treats but nothing for cats.

So proud of Katie!! Omg tell me about the "biggest sounds coming out of small packages!" we had our 4 yr old and 6 year old great niece and nephew here for the Jewish Holiday a week ago Monday. Poor Dakota...they chased him.....Cody, who is ALWAYS friendly watched it all from his Neko cabin, UNTIL the "big bad wolf" 4 yr old chose to go over and try to smash the top of the cabin. He took off like a bolt and my heart broke because he is normally fearless. Thankfully, I didn't have to intervene because her father saw what took place and yelled "What the hell is wrong with you?!!" to her...............also thankfully, after a day or so Cody DID return to his Neko cabin (which I was afraid he wouldn't)....he's fine but relieved they won't be here for another year!
