This just in -
I Have Cat's Petie, the Manhattan Lawcat representing Katie in the alleged homicide of Mabel Mouse, announced in a press conference earlier today that all charges against the widely popular tuxie cat have been DROPPED.

According to Wally Island Cat, Chief Medical Examiner in the case, forensic evidence has ruled out Katie as the killer.  The full coroner's report has not yet been released, leaving rampant speculation as to cause of death.  The blogosphere is anxious to know if the mouse died of natural causes or if the case will continue to be investigated as a homicide.  The ME's office has not officially commented on the matter.

On the heels of this highly anticipated announcement comes even more cryptic evidence.  Home video footage submitted annonymousely shows a distorted image of the possible killer. Although the legitimacy of the video has not yet been verified, sources indicate the unknown figure may have been present at the crime scene on the date in question.

Whodunnit BlogPaws Giveaway

It all started last week with allegations of Shoelace Tampering. Then Mabel the Mouse was found dead in the townhouse and all paws pointed at me. Facing a possible murder charge, my future hangs in the balance. Circumstantial evidence is mounted against me, though I continue to maintain my plea of innocence.

On Friday, TMZ released case-breaking video footage. Click HERE if you missed it. The mysterious grey haired cat seen through my window has raised reasonable doubt that I may in fact have been framed.

Cat Eye Witness - Identity Withheld

Word in the alley is that the mysterious grey-haired cat is a key witness to the crime and being held in protective custody. His/her identity has not been revealed, however the cat is rumored to be a well-known master gardener from the Portland, OR area and an expert in mice control.

The authorities have identified 7 cats of interest and one dog in connection with this crime.  It is not known which or how many are considered suspects. All appear in the above lineup.

The Story Unfolds

In an attempt to shed light on the uncertainty behind the recent allegations launched against me, TMZ has just released the following video.  Police are searching for the unknown assailant, believed to be caught on tape for just a fraction of a second.  If you have any information as to the identity or whereabouts of this long, grey-haired interloper, please contact the authorities at once.

Awaiting Arraignment

Hi everyone, Katie here.

On Tuesday evening I was released on bond for charges of Shoelace Tampering.  I was in good spirits and confident a clean dismissal was imminent.  That is until today.  I was made aware of new charges that are being brought against me unrelated to the shoelaces.  Far more serious allegations.  Of murder.

That's right, murder.

Let me start by assuring you I didn't do it.  Based on circumstantial evidence though, my future may be hanging in the balance.  Plus Gloman is out of town so as much as I'd like to, I can't blame him.

Let me walk you through the events of the past 24 hours.

09:00am - Breakfast as usual.  Grain free kibble. One small piece of freeze dried salmon.  Water.

09:15am - Rolled around on the kitchen rug looking cute.

10:00am - Pre-nap preparations in Glogirly's bed.

10:05am - Glogirly left the townhouse for the gym.

10:06am - 12:22pm - Deep napping.

12:23pm - Glogirly returned to the townhouse.

12:24pm - Glogirly shrieked, "OMG, a MOUSE!   OMG, OMG, OMG a MOUSE!"

12:25pm - Glogirly shrieked, "KATIE, WHAT DID YOU DO?"

12:26pm - Woken from my slumber TWO floors up, I descended the steps to find out what the fluff was going on.

12:27pm - Discovery of the remains. A small lifeless body I'VE never seen before lay limp on the tile floor.

12:28pm - Initial assessment showed no signs of foul play.  Or any play for that matter.

Well here we go again. I'm currently awaiting arraignment. Three strikes if you count the ribbon incident and the shoelace tampering thing.

But I swear.
I didn't do it.
I was sleeping, I tell you, sleeping.
I've never even SEEN a creature like this before.  I'm a CITY cat.
I don't know how the intruder forced his way in past security.
But I think he may have slipped in undetected when a door opened.

And then obviously poisoned himself.

The evidence is circumstantial. Wrong place. Wrong time. I did NOT have inappropriate contact with those shoelaces. I've been framed.  

The evening was unremarkable.  Gloman and Glogirly dined on TV dinners, watching Mad Men on the DVR.  They retreated upstairs. Glogirly attended to her blogging tasks in bed. Gloman packed for a trip. His tennis shoes sat on the floor in plain view, next to the suitcase.  A bowl of popcorn and a Coke Zero later, everyone was asleep.  

Morning came and the accusations started flying.  Someone had allegedly chewed on Gloman's shoelaces. There was talk of DNA evidence, saliva.  Trace indications of black and white hair.  A nondescript cat toy positioned "randomly" next to the shoes.  

No legal representation. No judge. No jury of my peers. 

Not even a consideration of what may have REALLY happened.  

Gloman, he gets hungry in the middle of the night and it's a long way downstairs to the kitchen.  He's partial to angel hair pasta.  And have you SEEN his hair?  Mostly white with a few fleeting strands of black. And that toy? Come ON. Why not just wrap the whole crime scene up in a box and tie it with a pretty ribbon.

Oh. That's right. I've got a "prior" with a three foot strand of ribbon. Yeah, I ate it. It was pink, ok?  After the ribbon was surgically removed, the stupid Vet actually GAVE it to Gloman as a some kind of sick souvenir.  It's hermetically sealed in a Ziploc bag and tucked inside one of his drawers in the garage.  

May as well be hanging around my neck.  

Do You See What I See?

Hi everyone, Katie here.

...reporting to you live from the top of Glogirly's shoulder.  I don't usually sit up here, but today is kind of special. It's like I can see the WHOLE blogosphere from here.  And I'm telling you, it's pretty cool.  We have so many great furiends.  Cats, humans... even a few dogs.  (well only enough so far that I can count on one paw.)

Today my girl and I want to thank you. Thanks for coming to visit us, thanks for laughing with us and thanks for liking us. We just found out that we won an Anipal Academy Award Star for our graphic designs!  Our favorite ghetto kitty Cathy Keisha nominated us. Knowing CK, there may have been some under-the-cat-tree bribery or strong-pawing going on but hey, we're not gonna cramp her style OR let it dampen our party!

We also found out that we're finalists in the BlogPaws Nose-to-Nose Awards in three different categories.  Best Meow Blog, Best Humor Blog and Best Blog Video.  There are LOTS of cat blogs represented in the prestigious list of finalists...YAY!  And we are humbled to be named among so many other really talented animals and humans. Did you know there's even an anteater nominated?

Awards are fun and it's always nice to know that someone recognizes and likes what you're doing. But the coolest thing in all of this is being able to sit on my girl's shoulder, look out over the blogosphere, and see all of our friends. Each one of you are the reason we're here, just having fun and throwing some smiles around.

Oh, just one more thing.  That star.  I see Glogirly's name. Just Glogirly. Seriously? A rookie mistake.

Hi everyone, Katie here.

So I just took the What Is Your Cat's IQ test on Webvet's blog.  All I can say is... IT WAS RIGGED.
And I am spitting MAD.

It started innocently enough.  Kind of like those Cosmo-Are-You-Good-Girl-Hot-Or-Bad-Girl-Hot quizzes.  Simple questions and multiple choice answers.  Easy peasey, Japaneasy.  The questions are directed to humans about their cats and believe you me, I made sure Glogirly completed every question accurately and to MY approval.

I thought I had this baby nailed.
To my horror, this was not the case. At all.

EXHIBIT A:
How often does your cat persuade you to get out of bed early to fix her/him breakfast?
a) Never
b) Once in a while
c) Every day

My answer:  a) Never. Duh.
I am smart enough to know that if I let my girl sleep as late as she likes, there is a far greater chance of scoring some salmon come feeding time. A well-rested Glogirly makes for a well-fed Katie. Is this not an excellent example of deductive reasoning?

Webvet's high scoring answer?  c) Everyday.
Any cat who would answer C is just flirting with starvation.

EXHIBIT B:
How often do you come home from work to discover your cat has gotten into mischief while you were away?
a) Never
b) Now and then
c) All the time

My answer:  a) Never. DUH.
First off, I KNOW the difference between right and wrong, what's allowed and not. Sofa YES, kitchen counter NO. Second and most important to my case, I'm CERTAINLY not stupid enough to leave any evidence of wrongdoing in plain view.

Webvet's high scoring answer? c) All the time.
Any cat incapable of hiding their own mischief...well, they're not a cat.  They're a DOG.

MAKING THE GRADE:
The questions go on and on.  Each one a virtual land mine laying in wait.
Even the scoring is backwards.
You only get points for C answers.
B answers get you nothing.
A answers get you NEGATIVE points. Huh?

Out of 20 possible points, my score is 1.  That's right, ONE.

I guess I should be happy I don't have a negative IQ.
Can't say as much for my attitude quotient.

Blog Spiffing

Hi everyone, Miss Katie here.

Did you know that BlogPaws, the one-of-a-kind pet blogging conference, is fast approaching?  I'm sending Glogirly to spread some Katie-love to my attending furriends and take copious notes for me.  I COULD go...she's even driving all the way from Minneapolis to Salt Lake City.  But I don't play well with others. At all.
