Life Under Plastic

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss? Where'd the Townhouse go? ...Boss?

KATIE:  Zzzz.

WAFFLES:  Wake up, Boss! WAKE UP! The plastic's eating the Townhouse!

KATIE:  Waffles, what did I tell you about the waking-me-up rules?

WAFFLES:  I know, Boss. But the rules don't count when the Townhouse is getting eaten by plastic, right? I mean, what's next? Is the plastic going to eat us? What about our wand toys and stuff?

KATIE:  No one's getting eaten, Waffles. The construction guys are coming back to redo part of the hardwood floor. The plastic is protecting the Townhouse. Not eating it.

WAFFLES:  Still, I'm keeping an eye on my food dish. You can't trust plastic.

About Today's Photos
When we came home from the hotel last week, one of the furniture movers had dropped a table on the new wood floors leaving a big gash. The first repair attempt failed so today a big chunk of the floors will be pulled up and redone.

As a result, THE most important part of the Townhouse, where the cat tree, napping ottoman, Sleepypods and food dishes are, is currently under plastic. Even the powder room is out of service. Today, while the really loud part of the work is being done, Glogirly, Katie & Waffles will be hanging out in the upstairs bedroom. Not to worry, there'll be plenty of treats and toys. A dedicated litter box and drinking fountain too. Glogirly's on her own though.

Where's Katie???
Plastic? What Plastic? There were plenty of giggles today as Katie proved she is truly a creature of habit. Every morning after breakfast, she curls up on the big blue ottoman next to the Sleepypod in the fireplace room. It's a perfect napping spot with nice light from the nearby windows and an excellent view of the Townhouse interior. The Sleepypod offers extra privacy when needed.
Katie wasn't going to let a little bit of plastic sheeting cramp her style. Even though that whole room was under cover, she had no trouble navigating to her favorite spot where she spent most of the day... and as we're clicking publish late in the evening, she's STILL there. Maybe plastic is the new *thing*.

Despite how puzzled Waffles was by the sight and sound of the plastic, Katie just took it all in stride.

WAFFLES:  Uh, Boss? What's Glogirly's litter box doing out on the back deck?

  10. Isn't it funny how they react differently? You'd think if one was calm, that would keep the other calm, or if one was upset, it would upset the other. But nope, individual as can be! Hope you get out from under the plastic soon! And boy, we sure hope Glogirly doesn't have to use her litter box on the deck! Covered by plastic or not!

  14. How annoying about the furniture movers!
Plastic can be some scary stuff for somekitties. Audrey used to be terrified of it. Waffles, I do hope it doesn't eat your wand toys.

  22. How do you get so many pictures of Waffles looking so adorably sheepish? It just makes me so happy when I see one. :) And I'm not surprised Katie is so unruffled. She seems to be really coming into her own now.

  23. Nothing shall interrupt nap time..right Katie...you are just so laid back little lady...My Lil Tiger guy here loves plastic just a little too much..have to keep it from him as he loves to chew on it!!!

  24. Hopefully that plastic will be gone soon enough, Waffles and Katie. We're sure glad it's not eating the Townhouse!

  25. Compared to Waffles, what's plastic sheeting? It doesn't try to eat your food, ambush you, take your toys, or steal your sleeping spots. Katie totally has this plastic sheeting thing under control--and it offers some privacy, so maybe it's worth having around. Yeah, this plastic sheeting thing is easy peasy. Keeps the heat in, too, for toasty napping. Plastic sheeting isn't too bad. ;)

  30. Maude wants to tell Waffles that the best thing to do with plastic is to Eat It! If you chew it up, Waffles, it can't eat you. Simple.
