My Favorite Day #WafflesWednesday

One of Glogirly's favorite books growing up was A. A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh. It was probably the first book that opened her heart to animals. Her favorite character was Piglet. She'll always remember the Christmas when Santa left her a small, stuffed piglet in her stocking.

She identified with Piglet's quiet and shy nature. He was an underdog, but with Pooh by his side anything was possible. They shared a love and friendship that resonates in her heart today.

In fact, it's Piglet's untainted innocence that in many ways inspires how she writes Waffles' voice. And Pooh's pragmatism that finds its way into Katie's.

One of her favorite Pooh-Piglet conversations goes something like this -

Piglet sidled up to
Pooh from behind.
"Pooh!" he whispered.

"Yes, Piglet?"

"Nothing," said Piglet.
"I just wanted
to be sure of you."

Each day, Katie and Waffles seem to get a little closer. Emphasis on a "little." Someday though, she imagines Waffles and Katie just might share that same exchange.

  2. When I named him, Bear's full name was Pooh Bear ... after Winnie the Pooh. Bear's sweet like honey and gives bear hugs with his front legs :) Of course, when he became a little terror to Kitty and worse than a toddler in terms of getting into things he shouldn't ... it was a lot easier to say, "BEAR!" than "POOH BEAR!" ... and so we kinda dropped the Pooh.
