WAFFLES: Hey Boss, check out the new food! Glogirly got out the fancy plates so it must be REALLY special. I call the chicken flavor!
KATIE: Gee that's a surprise, Waffles. Never saw that coming.
WAFFLES: What are YOU having, Boss?
KATIE: Hmmm... Chicken, turkey, salmon... Holistic Select. I think I'll have one of each. You go ahead with that little can of chicken, Waffles. I'll just get started on these extra-large cans.
WAFFLES: Extra-large??? What you talkin' bout, Boss?
On the Hunt for a New Daily Diet: Introducing Holistic Select's New Canned Cat Food Recipes
Waffles and his chicken obsession aside, we don't talk about food all that often here. But when something comes along that blows our fur back, we really want to share it with you. We received a an assortment of Holistic Select's new grain free canned cat formulas recently...or as Glogirly says, "in the nick of time."
Waffles and I recently decided we were tired of our daily diet. There was a lot going on here last month...stressors that likely had an effect on our eating habits. Waffles was galavanting around the country posing for pictures and starring in videos. Meanwhile I was making friends with the ER vet. A quick diagnosis of a bacterial infection and a few antibiotics later, I was fine. But our food wasn't. I wanted a change and in a rare act of solidarity, even Waffles decided he was done with the usual menu.
We tried a handful of foods and brands. A sniff here, a lick there, nothing was making much of an impression on us.
Usually Glogirly will introduce a new food to us gradually by mixing it with our old. But since we'd already turned our noses up at the old, she went all-in. One delicious flavor after another, Waffles and I both were gobbling it up, renewing our membership in the Clean Plate Club.
Not only do the Holistic Select flavors taste great, Glogirly feels really good about the quality and nutritional attributes of their new formulas. The price is very competitive with other premium brands. ...in fact we're saving a little money each month by using their larger 13 ounce cans!
Why's Holistic a Winner With Us?
1. We're Cleaning Our Plates!
Doesn't matter how fancy, how healthy, how expensive your food is if you're not eating it. Boss! We're wearing the same outfit!
2. Prebiotic Support
Holistic Select believes total body health begins with digestive health. Chicory root extracts provide prebiotic support for healthy digestion. ...this is a biggee for me and my sensitive stomach. I've not had a single issue on the hardwoods or even the nice rugs since I started eating Holistic.
3. What it Doesn't Have is as Important as What it Does
No grains, no wheat, no soy, no corn, no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.d we didn't even call each other the night before!
4. Variety
Seven different flavors and we haven't found one we didn't like! Though Glogirly prefers to serve us poultry as a primary protein source, we occasionally will have salmon or fish as a treat. Our two favorites are the Turkey Pate and Chicken Pate recipes. The Turkey & Salmon Pate recipe is our favorite special treat.
5. For Cats of All Life Stages
Though Waffles is still a young and obnoxious teenager and I'm a sophisticated and experienced cat, who looks incredibly young for my age, Holistic Selects recipes are perfect for us both. So much so, I have to watch my dish like a hawk with Waffles is around.
6. THREE Can Sizes!
All of the varieties come in 3 ounce, 5.5 ounce and 13 ounce cans. This is GREAT news for multi-cat households that are tired of opening all those tiny cans everyday.
It's a Tasty GIVEAWAY!
One lucky GLOGIRLY reader will win $50 worth of Holistic Select's new canned cat food recipes. Although prize may only ship to a US address, readers worldwide are invited to enter and gift their prize to a US friend or shelter should they win. Good luck everyone! I'm so glad you two found something you both like to eat. That is very good
ReplyDeleteI want my cats to like their food but I want it to be good for them. Sounds like this is what we need.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had this yet but Binga and Boodie have and they like it!
ReplyDeleteHealthy, quality ingredients. I used to buy the "big" brand names, but in time read about things like grains and fillers and moved my cats to a more natural, grain-free diet. I have seen a real positive change but I know there is room for improvement in their diets.
ReplyDeleteThe main attribute has to be that Leonardo will actually eat it; lots of things he just leaves most of it.

Health is the most important attribute to have in a cat food for me, taste is a priority for my guys. They're extremely picky and have repeatedly turned their noses up at healhier choices.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like yummy foods. We are not surprised Waffles wanted to try the chicken first, either :)
ReplyDeleteSince Katie is pickier than Waffles, we bet we will love it too ....
ReplyDeleteWow dat looks purretty pawsum. Glad y'all be enjoyin' it.
ReplyDeleteLuv ya'
Dezi and Lexi
Holistic Select was one of the first brands I picked up when I was transitioning Richard from his prescription food to regular food (but the store only had one flavour). We've now found a store that stocks several varieties so HS is a regular in the food rotation here. And I love that it comes in big cans - definitely a money saver that I wish the other brands I feed him had.
ReplyDeleteWe want healthy and yummy noms. Love the picture of Katie trying to steal the food right off the plate!
ReplyDeleteLove the holistic food but it tends to come in those itty bitty cans at the highest price so it's nice to see it in a larger size for us multiple cat families.
ReplyDeleteMom is looking for something new to try for Rhette. Needless to say there's been no weight loss. We tried 2 cans of the Merrick per your suggestion and he didn't eat it, just licked the juices. RIght now we feed him Merrick kibble, he just seems to prefer kibble but want to still try some canned food. Thanks for the offer guys! Love Dolly
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Katie and Waffles, that food sound delicious! We're all pretty picky eaters here, so that may be one we'd like to try. Hugs to you both, and to Glogirly and Gloman, too.
ReplyDeleteWe tried Holistic Select just recently ourselves and we like it! We really like it! So we would love to get some more.
ReplyDeleteIngredients are by far the most important thing. A close second is whether our picky Maine Coon will eat it.
ReplyDeletemom may have to look into that - you had her at "large can" :)
ReplyDeleteI will be looking for this brand next time I shop for "Itty" Bits! She is eating grain free wet food ever since a bad bought of stomach upset.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't heard of that brand, but it must be good. Truffle will eat almost anything, but Brulee is the finicky one. We'd love to try out this food and find something she'll eat all the time.
ReplyDeleteWe would like to try this brand. It looks really good. I'll bet the chicken flavor is yummy.
ReplyDeleteThaisa needs grain-free food, and hates all the ones we've tried. I know that if Kartie (I mean, The Boss) likes it, we will, too!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the food is a hit with both of them.
ReplyDeleteThe most important part of Thunder's food is if he will eat it. He is so fussy. I would love to give this a try if it tastes as good as you guys say.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. My Hansi has also started to become a bit fussy. We like grain free cat food. We might have to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteWow - my three need to try this because they have the ho-hums with the standard fare, and nothing new has sparked their interest - maybe this would be the thing!
ReplyDeleteGlad you two found foods that you both enjoy! We're very picky and our mommy wants us to eat healthy foods which we usually don't like but sounds like we'd like this one so we'll try it!
ReplyDeleteThe most important is that I’ll eat it. I’m extremely fussy with wet food and treats. She only tries new brands when we win them or get them in a campaign. If Katie likes this, I may.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear cats with discriminating taste like it (another words: picky!)We'd like to give it a try here.
ReplyDeleteTruffles would love to try this. She's pretty picky too!
ReplyDeleteMoo and NeeNee are both seniors now. So what I feed them needs to be the best quality that I can afford to keep them healthy as long as possible!
ReplyDeleteAfter doing a lot of research I recently changed my 7 cats to Holistic Select Grain Free. All of them love the food and I have noticed they don't throw up any more and their eye issues which I believe were from a food allergy are mostly gone. I am so happy I found this food.
ReplyDeleteI have a few kitties here that will eat most any wet food and a couple that are picky..I would love to have them try this food..I also like the bigger size cans!

ReplyDeleteSo, holistic means liable to holes, right? MOL being a picky eater, we could do with that here, though The Staff now tells me that I am getting a bit on the rotund side!!! Cheek! Will enter and hopefully win for Marg :)
ReplyDeleteI have two senior sisters @ 19 years old. Feeding is a chore to find something that stays down or just gets eaten.
ReplyDeleteMeowm is on the search for foods for me and my brofur! Maybe this will be our new foods!
ReplyDelete~~Orion
Grain, etc, free! Count me in. I'd like to try it out.
ReplyDeletethats great you both like it,xx Speedy
ReplyDeleteMom wants food that's healthy, but the kitties have to have the tasty stuff.
ReplyDeleteMy food has to be yummy or I won't eat it. Grain free is a very important attribute too.
ReplyDeleteThe food we eat is the same kind of healthy ood : all natural, and high quality ingredients. Purrs
ReplyDeleteNatural ingredients, no fillers, palatable.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see if my picky ones would like this!
ReplyDeleteWow Katie it must be good!
ReplyDeleteThat food must be good. You are really going for it Katie.
ReplyDeleteThat my kitties like it and it's good for sensitive tummies. Thanks for the giveaway.

ReplyDeleteOh my COD, Katie, that photo of you going after the food is priceless! We love that Holistic Select makes big cans. It seems like most companies who make good food insist on making it only in tiny cans, so that certainly has our attention.
ReplyDelete13 ounce cans? WIN!
ReplyDeleteThose are huge cans! We will take them all. Chick-hen, fish, beef, YUM.
ReplyDeleteKatie did you hear? Waffles is doing a giveaway of your foods
ReplyDeleteLily & Edward
Mom says the most important for her would be that all of us would eat it. Fiona and Giulietta are not fans of canned food, and Giulietta is getting fat. Hope we win. Ho, ho, ho, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteThat they eat it.
ReplyDeleteThey don't sell in Canada. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that they've come out with grain free! Great blog post. Sharing!
ReplyDeleteWe hope we are eating better than before. Chewy.com helps!
ReplyDeleteMost important attirbute? That is is tasty enough for Peanut (18) to eat. She is discerning (OK call her fussy) and getting her to eat ANYthing is an uphill job! We are in NZ so would like to donate our prize to Place for Cats (NYC) if we won.
ReplyDeleteHarvey, Miranda and Silver
nom nom nom
ReplyDeleteoooh, so rare to see the large can option for a healthy food choice
ReplyDeleteTo start with, will they eat it? If not, doesn't matter how healthy it is. Sounds like you two really enjoyed this food.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Hope you both continue to love it!
ReplyDeleteMy cat has to enjoy it first, there are many "healthy" cat foods she wont eat, and a few she will.
ReplyDeleteAllie: a good, high quality meal that passes our discriminating tastes is hard to find - good for you!
ReplyDeleteWe'd love to try the canned foods... their dry fish based food saved our Willow's tummy!
ReplyDeleteI only feed grain-free, but have not seen this brand! Thanks for educating me!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, she has to like it. Plus I don't want any extra filler or crud in it. Then it can't break the bank, because if I can't afford it, I can't buy it and then what good does it do her?
ReplyDeletemade in the usa, quality ingredients.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to get all my cats more wet food but so far one refuses any wet food. Another one only once in a while.
ReplyDeleteMy two oldest love wet food!
I've tried grain-free dry ( which all refused) so maybe they would like this better!
I would love to try this my cats r 10 and 11 and need good food i cant afford to buy very often. otherwise they get friskies canned
ReplyDeleteI look for cat foods that have little to no plants in them
ReplyDeleteI'd like to try this on my 15 year old furbaby. Always looking for good food for a good price.
ReplyDeletelimited ingredients
ReplyDeleteThis sounds great!
ReplyDeleteI buy great quality canned foods which often go uneaten. So I guess one thing I hope/look for is that it will be eaten!
ReplyDeleteMy cats' food needs to contain human-grade ingredients and cooked at a low temp.
ReplyDeleteFor my cats, I insist upon grain-free, non-GMO and natural ingredients. I also will only purchase products that are sourced and made in the USA.
