WAFFLES: I'm trying, Boss ... but he keeps running behind the cheese!
KATIE: Well unless he's set up camp behind that cheese, he's got to come out sooner or later. So just wait for him and then act like a REAL cat and POUNCE.
WAFFLES: Ok, Boss. I'm waiting. How long do I have to wait?
KATIE: Patience, Grasshopper.
WAFFLES: Boss, it's a MOUSE. Not a grasshopper. Ok, he's still not coming out. I think he's lost. Maybe he needs to stop and ask for directions.
KATIE: Watch and learn, Waffles. You wait for the mouse to come out from behind the cheese holes and then you catch him, just like this.
WAFFLES: Ok, Boss. I think I get it.
WAFFLES: OUCH! I'm stuck in the cheese! I'm stuck in the cheese!
Thank you to our friends, Allie, Maxwell & Faraday, from A Tonk's Tail, for our cool Frolicat Pounce toy! We won it about a hundred years ago and sadly, Waffles STILL doesn't know how to catch a mouse.

But you can laugh at him!
ReplyDeleteANYTHING to keep him outta your nethers, Katie!
ReplyDeleteNot everyone is as good as you are Katie
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty cool! We hope you NEVER have to catch a real mouse, kittehz. It makes your Mommy squeal very loudly! MOL!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
That looks like a fun toy!
ReplyDeleteWe have that toy, and before we got bored of it, I actually learned to turn it on myself!
ReplyDeleteThat looks fun! And you're playing together!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAllie: WAIT. I am having a VISION. Farada-- err, that it, WAFFLES' paw. TRAPPED in the CHEESE.
ReplyDeletePlaying together? Requires lots of patience on your part, Katie.
ReplyDeleteI really don't think Waffle will ever "get it".
But he's a boycat. Everyone knows girlcats are brainier!
Come on over and Odin will show you how to catch a mouse, for real. The FroliCat looks cool though and what a great prize from A Tonk's Tail!
ReplyDeleteKatie everyone knows girl cats are better hunters, think of lions. The lioness goes and gets the food not the male. Even in our house the girl kitty catches all the buggies, and what not in our house while the boy cat acts as if he's trying and doesn't catch a thing.
ReplyDeleteYou are sooooo patient Katie!!!
ReplyDeleteI think we know who the brains of this operation is! MOL
ReplyDeleteLooks like it kept you both busy for hours!
ReplyDeleteWe hope you don't ever get your paw stuck in a real cheese, Waffles.
ReplyDeleteAwww what a fabulous toy! Sweet Waffles we just know you'll catch that pesky mouse soon! Hello lovely Katie! Take care
ReplyDeletex
Katie, it looks like you're turning into a desperate housecat because of the absence of hunter's capacities of Waffles, MOL ! Purrs, Zorro
ReplyDeletePoor Waffles! Maybe you can watch Katie demonstrate and then try to imitate her? Don't give up; you'll catch him one of these days, we just know it!!
ReplyDeleteIt's okay, Waffles...that mouse is kinda tricky.
ReplyDelete(Sigh) we agree Katie Waffles looks pretty hopeless but we thinks Scylla has him beat, we looked out in the garage one night and a real live mousie was sitting right next to Scylla. Daddy had to put gloves on and go out and catch it. He set it free in the field next door.
ReplyDeleteIt's OK Mr. Waffles. Not all kitties are great hunters...you just keep trying.
ReplyDeleteIt's alright Waffles you'll get that mouse..one day.
ReplyDeleteJust don't get your head stuck in the cheese Waffles..MOL
ReplyDeleteSome kitties just don't have the hunting instinct. My Himalayan wouldn't have known what to do with a mouse. Her "sister" was a deadly mouse hunter ;)
ReplyDeleteeasy entertainment - Waffles and a toy :)
ReplyDeleteOh Waffles, keep practicing and you'll figure it out...just might take another 100 years!
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet playing together!!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Waffles, our orange Jack is scared of that pounce game so you are a step better than him. You'll get that mouse one day!!
ReplyDeletethat toy does look like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteSince I am like a kitty, I have a feeling I would like that mouse game
ReplyDeleteLily (& Edward)
Katie I so laughed at your expression and Waffles keep at it and you will succeed sweety
ReplyDeleteThat does look like a lot of fun. Waffles, do you think it would help you if I brought a real live tasty mouse to put in there?
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny! Maybe it is a good thing that he can't catch it yet. I know with my kids' video games, once they won it they didn't play with it anymore. MOL!
ReplyDeleteKatie the look on your face it priceless. Cute post.
ReplyDeleteSue B
Tell us when you catch a real mouse!
ReplyDeleteKatie, you honestly look like you’re rolling your eyes in that final pic. What kind of cat can’t catch a mouse?
ReplyDeletePoor Waffles....
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool toy. We have never seen one of those before. Waffles, if you want to come to our house, Astrid will teach you how to catch a real mouse. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteWow we want one of those fur sure.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a really fun toy! Wubbikins gets her paws stuck in track type toys all the time…it's really funny (-:
