I Love Lucy, I Love Chicken, I Love Waffles

WAFFLES:  Faster, Boss! Faster!

KATIE:  Waffles, you're supposed to wrap the drumsticks, not eat them.

WAFFLES: Wrap them? How am I supposed to wrap them? I'm busy.

KATIE:  Maybe if you stop eating and start wrapping???

WAFFLES:  But what about quality control and stuff?

Quality Control Team

MAXWELL:  So where'd all the drumsticks go?

FARADAY: Employee #709857 is clearly not working out.

ALLIE:  You mean that orange Waffles-whatever cat?

FARADAY:  Chicken and Waffles. A dangerous combo.

MAXWELL: Sounds like a happy meal to me.

WAFFLES:  Did someone say Happy Meal???

Special Thanks to our Guest Cats
Today's Quality Control Team are none other than the hilariously sophisticated kitties from the cat blog, A Tonk's Tail. They're always up for a little fun and games. Especially when it comes to food.

About Today's Post
Today's post is a nod back to 2014 - 2016 when we had a regular Saturday feature on our blog called #TVTripCaturday. It was a chance for Glogirly to play around with lots of Photoshop tricks as well as a way to help some adoptable kitties find forever homes.

If you feel like a few more giggles, here's a link to some of our past TV Trip posts: TV Trip Caturday

On the Road with Waffles & Katie: B&B FAIL

KATIE:  Someone needs to tell the management at this B&B that I've already taken over the world.

WAFFLES:  Yeah, and we need to talk to the manager about room service. Where's my fried chicken? I was told there would be chicken.

KATIE:  And did you see the size of that litter box? It's not fit for a ferret.

WAFFLES:  Ferret?

KATIE:  That's it. Where's the manager?

WAFFLES:  Uh, Boss? I see the manager. He's kind of .... uh, scary?

FARADAY:  Alright, who called for the manager?

On the Road with Waffles & Katie
The first day of our road trip landed us in Leawood, Kansas at the Tonk's Tail B&B. We know you're all wondering what Waffles sang in the car. And for how long. Would you believe he didn't make a meow the WHOLE way to Kansas??? Katie was so shocked, she was speechless too. And Glogirly was in heaven.

The cats of A Tonk's Tail welcomed us with open paws... word is there was chicken, but only for those with two legs. Can you believe it?

Special thanks to Miss Lisa, Faraday, Maxwell and Allie for putting us up for the evening. Tomorrow it's off to NASHVILLE!!!

Stay tuned for more. We'll be back tomorrow with the latest in our On the Road with Waffles & Katie: Nashville series.

RESCUED The Stories of 12 Cats, Through Their Eyes: A Glimpse & Giveaway

I was laying down, tucked up next to Glogirly yesterday morning while she was on her computer, or should I say while the computer was on her. This is a pretty regular sort of thing what with all the blogging and designing and Facebooking. She's taken the term *laptop" so literally I'm beginning to think there might be superglue involved.

But this morning there was a quiet calm about her. She was smiling and blinking away something she calls *happy tears.* Even though they taste kind of salty, she says that to her they're sweet.

She was reading a very special story about a very special cat.

His name was Ryker.

I never met Ryker, the cat that came before our feline friends (Faraday, Maxwell & Allie) from the cat blog, A Tonk's Tail, but that hasn't stopped him from sharing his life and the most important things he's learned with us.

RESCUED
Ryker's story is just one of a dozen true tales of rescue and love. It's part of the new anthology, RESCUED The Stories of 12 Cats, Through Their Eyes, edited by Sparklecat.com's Janiss Garza. The beautifully composed collection features short stories and memoirs, as told though the voice of the the cats. You'll likely recognize some of the authors... many are friends and fellow cat bloggers and writers. Ryker's Rescue is written by our dear friend and Ryker's 'Person', Lisa Richman.

We're firm believers that cats have an unmatched intuition. When combined with a deep capacity to love and be loved, it's clear that when it comes to the human-cat bond, cats are not the only ones rescued here.

Ryker talks of Caleb, the cat who came before him and his relationship with their Person. When life was scary and dark for her, it was Caleb who stayed close until the darkness passed and the sun came into view. Ryker writes of Caleb, "... he left me with a single admonition: his mission had been to help her survive, but my mission was to help her live." And that he did.

12 Months, 12, Authors, 12 Shelters
The most important thing about this book though, is who it helps. A portion of RESCUED's sales will go to shelters and rescue organizations selected by each author. This month's shelter is Great Plains SPCA.

Please consider buying a copy for yourself and maybe even one for a friend. Not only will you be curling up with 12 beautiful stories of rescue love, you'll be helping out a shelter that desperately needs it.

Last year, Great Plains - whose capacity is 175 cats - reached a population of almost800 within a matter of months. This extreme overpopulation threatened not only their No Kill status, but their very existence as well. You can read all about their story here.

Great Plains is heading into kitten season again, with a population already at 155. Any donation, large or small, will help. Purchasing a copy of RESCUED is one way to do this.

Purchase your copy with the buy now link below and you'll receive a pawtographed bookplate with Ryker's actual signature from the Rainbow Bridge. His pawprint was kindly taken by the emergency clinic as a keepsake for his family.

Waffles Big Adventure, Day 8: Party Ready & Sweet Goodbyes

Hi everybuddy, Waffles here.

Welcome to Day 8 of my big adventure! One of the highlights of my trip to the BarkWorld & MeowWorld conference, besides all the ladies of course, was a very special party I threw in my hotel room on Halloween night.

It was a super-exclusive, invitation-only, Mad Kitty Cocktail Happy Hour... complete with LOTS of mike's HARDER Mad Kitty!

I invited all of my girlfriends, and their girlfriends, and their girlfriends too. Just as soon as Glogirly and I get home, we'll do a special write up on the event with LOTS of cool pictures.

But tonight is all about my SPECIAL girlfriend.... my roommate and important secret-sharer, Miss Lisa. She's the kitty mom to Faraday, Maxwell and Allie from A Tonk's Tail. Glogirly and I go home tomorrow so I have to say goodbye to Miss Lisa.

I'm really going to miss the slumber parties.

xo,
Waffles

Special Blog Feature This Week!
Please join us all week as Waffles jet-sets across the country! From Minneapolis to New York City to Atlanta... We'll be following him every paw-step of the way. We've got some exciting plans in every city and you won't want to miss a single day!

Don't worry about Katie... she'll be holding down the Townhouse with Gloman, kicking her feet up and enjoying not looking over her shoulder each morning at breakfast.

To Catch A Mouse

KATIE:  Waffles, haven't you caught that mouse YET???

WAFFLES:  I'm trying, Boss ... but he keeps running behind the cheese!

KATIE:  Well unless he's set up camp behind that cheese, he's got to come out sooner or later. So just wait for him and then act like a REAL cat and POUNCE.

WAFFLES:  Ok, Boss. I'm waiting. How long do I have to wait?

KATIE:  Patience, Grasshopper.

WAFFLES:  Boss, it's a MOUSE. Not a grasshopper. Ok, he's still not coming out. I think he's lost. Maybe he needs to stop and ask for directions.

KATIE:  Watch and learn, Waffles. You wait for the mouse to come out from behind the cheese holes and then you catch him, just like this.

WAFFLES:  Ok, Boss. I think I get it.

WAFFLES:  OUCH! I'm stuck in the cheese! I'm stuck in the cheese!

KATIE:  Dear Cod, grant me some serenity. NOW.

Thank you to our friends, Allie, Maxwell & Faraday, from A Tonk's Tail, for our cool Frolicat Pounce toy! We won it about a hundred years ago and sadly, Waffles STILL doesn't know how to catch a mouse.

Catlady Fun At The CWA

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Glogirly finally found her way home from the Cat Writers' Association conference. She was quick to unpack the Muse Medallion awards she received for best color photography series and best black & white series. I question the sense of awarding HER the medallions for photos that clearly featured ME. ...and a couple of Waffles.

(If you're curious, you can check out the winning photos HERE & HERE.)

Those medallions are awfully big and heavy too. Not exactly cat-friendly. I can barely bat them around the townhouse.

And considering she STOLE my mouse for her so-called Halloween costume, I have nothing to bat around here except a certain orange ...ok, not such a bad idea after all.

Glogirly had a great time hanging with all the cat ladies. There were lots of laughs, lots of cat ears and even MORE awards. Big congratulations to our friends Angie Bailey of Catladyland, JaneA Kelley from Paws & Effect and Cat Wisdom 101's Layla Morgan Wilde for their Muse Medallion wins. And a special congratulations to Deb Barnes of Zee & Zoey for winning Friskies' Writer of the Year Award!
Glogirly's favorite part was rooming with Maxwell, FaRADay & Allie's mother from A Tonk's Tail. They stayed up late, painting their nails, talking about boyz and comparing wand toy stories.

Another exciting part of the conference was the unveiling of the new CWA logo that Glogirly had a hand in designing. She did the t-shirts and conference program covers too.

So Glogirly claims to have some special kitty swag for us in a bag that has yet to be unpacked.  Waffles and I are hopeful that she'll crack it open later sometime today. If not, we may have to resort to a joint covert operation.

Thank you so much to our friends & readers for so kindly visiting us while the girl's been away. We hope to catch up on our visiting and commenting very soon!

Pillow Party

Hi everyone, Katie here.

A few weeks ago I was visiting my fashionista friend Allie, from A Tonk's Tail...you know, the one with the pawsome pink mani-pedi? Well she turned me onto this fabulous find from Eclectic Pillows. When I saw that Sara Klassen, the artist behind the pillows, had actually used MY own profile to create them...well I just knew that Glogirly had to have them. And it didn't hurt they matched her new rug.

The pillow covers are made from a hip midcentury modern upholstery fabric with a leatherette kitty silhouette applique. The kitty even has whiskers. They're almost as beautiful as me. Almost.

Sara has a cute little Etsy Shop with some black & white kitty pillows we also adore.

Now if I can just move these pillows to a chair that doesn't spin around every time I jump onto it. I've never been much for amusement park rides.

Thank you, Sara & Eclectic Pillows...we LOVE our Kitty, I mean Katie Pillows.

Behind-the-Scenes With Juror #12, Allie

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Wow... the response to Juror #10's Q&A (Jemma The Chihuahua) was...well, extreme. All the cats are standing in behind me in solidarity, while the dogs are acting like...well, DOGS.

Today we're behind-the-scenes with the glamour kitty from A Tonk's Tail, Allie. Allie represents the feminine and well-mannered side of the Tonk's trio of cats. I'm certain her brothers Maxwell and Faraday, anxiously waiting in the wings, will have a few words for us as well.

KATIE:  So Allie. Nice nails. Love the pink.

ALLIE:  *tilts head, looks up to the side*

KATIE:  Allie, what was your favorite part of my video, "Katie Is...ACCUSED?"

ALLIE:  My favorite part?  Well, personally... *pats coif* I think the jury's simply STUNNING.

FaRADay:  *gagging noise*

MAXWELL:  *fascinated look* uh, Katie...those handcuffs. I can open any door, and drawer. I'll bet I can open those too *hoists lawn clippers*

FaRADay:  *unintelligible screech*

MAXWELL:  Dood. Girls don't usually do cool things like chew on shoelaces, so we think she's innocent.

KATIE:  Well I guess innocent trumps cool. Still, I like to think of myself as one-cool-kitty.  So, Allie? About those pink nails...

Only a few days left to get all your friends, family, and the neighborhood dogs to VOTE for "Katie Is...ACCUSED!" The polls close Friday, Nov 9 @ 11:59pm EST.

________________________________________________________________________________

Please help us get the vote out!
Now that the presidential political ads have gone dark and the flyers aren't flying anymore, we have just a couple days to recruit a few more votes for "Katie Is...ACCUSED." If you'd like to help, we have our OWN flyer that you can print to slip under your neighbors door or hand to the grocery store cashier. Every vote counts for this little tuxie from Minnie-Apolis.

We've Got Giveaway Winners!

Hi everyone Katie here.

I know, you've barely slept a wink since we announced those two exciting giveaways here on GLOGIRLY. Well, WAKE UP! The wait is over.

Congratulations to the trio of crazy cats at A Tonk's Tail:  Allie, Maxwell and FaRADay. They're the lucky winners of a HIGHLY COVETED NVR Miss Litter Box.  These three crack us up every time we visit. And their COMMENTS...well, those leave us in stitches too.

Here's what they had to say about the prospect of winning a NVR Miss Litter Box:

Maxwell: Dude. Allie needs this. For real. She's - uh - ENTHUSIASTIC.

Allie:  MAX!!! You do NOT say that about a lady! Now I'll never be able to show my face outside the house AGAIN!

(We're not able to publish FaRADay's remarks)

And a BIG congratulations to Christine and Riverfront Cats! You're the lucky winners of a copy of Homer's book, Homer's Odyssey - A Fearless Feline Tale, or How I Learned About Love and Life with a Blind Wonder Cat, written by Gwen Cooper.

Christine was so excited when we told her the news! She's an inspiring and devoted TNRM (Trap-Neuter-Return-Manage) advocate and cares for 20 beautiful neighborhood cats. You can read HERE about each of them...they all have names and know them!

Christine is also instrumental in finding forever homes for homeless cats ready to give up their life on the streets, bringing lots of purrs to their new families. She is going to give her copy of Homer's book to the next lucky family that adopts a black kitty. We think that's a beautiful gesture.

We encourage you to visit both Riverfront Cats and A Tonk's Tail...you'll be glad you did! Check them out on Facebook too! You can tell them Waffles Katie sent you:
