Freddie Meow-cury Cat Doll

KATIE:  Who is this imposter? I'm the only one around here with a mustache.

WAFFLES:  OMG, Boss! That's Freddie Meow-cury!

KATIE:  Freddie who?

WAFFLES:  You know...Bohemian Catsody, Don't Stop Meow, We Are the Champion Cats.

KATIE:  Seriously, Waffles. You look more like Groucho Marx in that getup than Freddie Mercury.

WAFFLES:  Freddie MEOW-cury, Boss.

Freddie Meow-cury Etsy Find
Just last week a fellow Freddie fan and friend posted a photo on Facebook (how's THAT for alliteration!) of a Freddie Mercury action figure doll. He kind of looked like a cross between GI Joe and Barbie's Ken but dressed up like Freddie. It got Glogirly to thinking though, that there might be some cool looking Freddie Mercury dolls out there. So she did a quick Google search and found something even better. A FREDDIE MEOW-CURY doll!

He's an adorable handmade felt doll from a sweet shop on Etsy called Brussel Sprout Babes. Brook Russel (get it, Brussel?!) is the talented artisan behind this clever creation. She's from Minnesota too, so we knew she had to be special.

Glogirly HAD. TO. HAVE. HIM.

Freddie arrived just a couple days ago. Katie and Waffles have been checking him out ever since. Brooke is a fellow Cat Lady, so we're sure Freddie came with all sorts of kitty smells! But Katie and Waffles seem to have figured out that he belongs to Glogirly and is not a cat toy.

Many of our friends and readers know that Glogirly loves Freddie Mercury and Queen. The Bohemian Rhapsody biopic was her favorite movie of 2018. Brooke must be a fan too because the attention to detail on Freddie Meow-cury is over the top!

Above photos courtesy of Brooke Russel, Brussel Sprout Babes

He's wearing his iconic yellow jacket and white pants with stripes up the side with a square-buckled belt. His mustache and eyebrows are purr-fect. Glogirly giggled out loud when she saw the back of his head with his black hair. His tail looks a little like a lightning bolt. Perhaps a nod to David Bowie. He even has some little chest hairs!

And his heart-shaped nose is a tribute to Freddie Mercury's deep love of cats.

Freddie Meow-cury is available as a made to order item in the Brussel Sprout Babes Etsy Shop HERE.

Dear Secret Admirer

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss!!! Check out my chicken!!! You'll never guess who gave it to me!

KATIE:  Ok, who gave it to you?

WAFFLES:  I don't know!!!!

KATIE:  What do you mean, you don't know?

WAFFLES:  It's a SECRET!

KATIE:  It's from a Secret Admirer, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  Uh, what's a secret admirerer-er??

KATIE:  Only two *er's* Waffles. A secret admirer is someone who really, really likes us but doesn't want to divulge their identity. And considering they sent you a chicken drumstick me some sushi salmon, I'd say they must read our blog pretty regularly.

WAFFLES:  I LOVE my Secret Admirer!!! She gave me CHICKEN!!! She must be the coolest secret admirer person on EARTH!!!  She's so cool, I wonder if she wants to marry me! Maybe I should ask her, huh Boss?

KATIE:  How are you going to ask her if you don't even know who she is? And maybe SHE's a HE!     She could be another cat, or a bunny, a dog... she might even be a GOAT! We'll never know.

WAFFLES:  *sigh*  I wish there was a way for my Secret Admirer to know how much I love her. And my chicken.

KATIE:  Waffles, if she reads our blog, she already knows.

LOVE!
We may not know who our Secret Admirer is, but we DO know where these beautiful toys came from! They're from a sweet little Etsy shop called Whimsily Ever After.  Shelly Rinker is the clever and talented cat lover and toy maker behind this adorable collection of kitty playthings.

The attention to detail brings these wonderful toys to life. From the stitching on the salmon to the jagged edge where the chicken meets the drummie, the special touches Shelly gives her toys really set them apart. In fact, Shelly spent the majority of her career designing for the children's toy industry. We're sure happy she decided to turn her attention to CATS!

Lick-Proof Flannel
Shelly's toys are all crafted from flannel as opposed to felt and are incredibly durable...especially for kitties who love to feverishly lick their toys. (uh, Waffles???) Filled with organic, USA-grown catnip and fluffy fiberfill, they're extremely lightweight and perfect for batting around the floor and tossing into the air. She also makes them without catnip, though we can't imagine why anyone would pass on such premium nip!

Thank You
Thank you to our Secret Admirer for your incredibly thoughtful gift... what a surprise it was to open up such a beautiful and personalized package! And thank you to Miss Shelly for creating these purr-fectly special kitty toys.

Groovy Kitty! With Tie Dyed Hippy Wear

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss! You're pink glasses are FAR-OUT! They go perfect with my new Tie Dyed Hippy Wear

KATIE:  Waffles, did you ASK if you could borrow my pink glasses?

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss, can I borrow your pink glasses?

KATIE: What is that...ANOTHER new outfit???

WAFFLES:  Yeah, Boss. It's my hippy t-shirt. You can borrow it if you want.

Boss?

The Katnip Lounge Kitties' daddy made it special for me. He's got his own Etsy shop called Tie Dyed Hippy Wear. He makes all kinds of cool stuff. Not just for cats, but for people too. Like t-shirts and tote bags and towels and stuff.

WAFFLES:  He sent me some towels with little packets of magic dust. There was catnip and valerian and a super secret stash of something Glogirly called silvervine. She dusted some on my new towels and told me to have a nice trip. But I wasn't really going anywhere.

KATIE:  Trip? Here, let me pack for you.

WAFFLES:  Wooo-oooo-ooo ... my feather got some magic dust on it and now it's blurry!

You'll find Katnip Daddy "Scrotchy" hanging out in his Tie Dyed Hippy Wear Shop on Etsy and his groovy Facebook Page. Just tell him Waffles sent you and I bet he'll send some magic dust with YOUR hippy order too.

If you don't see exactly what you're looking for, Scrotchy does LOTS of custom orders. He'll tie dye almost anything!

KATIE:  This is SO not groovy.

FTC Disclosure: We received this product for review at no charge from Tie Dyed Hippy Wear. Receiving the free product did not influence our review, though we may have been under the influence of catnip and silvervine. All reviews on GLOGIRLY will always reflect our honest and unbiased opinions.

A Special Gift For Our Cat-Loving Cameraman

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Waffles and I gave Gloman a very special gift recently. Many of you know he's rarely seen without a camera hanging from his neck. Well, we found the purrfect t-shirt for this cat-loving cameraman.

The illustration on the t-shirt even features one of the very cameras that Gloman owns. So he thought it would be fun to take a photo of his new favorite t-shirt with his favorite camera and his favorite cat.

HEY!  I said FAVORITE cat, Waffles.

Wait until he finds out you've been touching his shirt AND his camera.

This cool t-shirt is one of our many fabulous finds on Etsy. Glogirly ordered it from the CatsSecret Etsy Shop and it came all the way from Russia. Given Gloman's Russian blood, it made the gift even MORE special.

But to be clear, I'm STILL his favorite cat. I mean, my real name IS Katerina after all. If Waffles were Russian, we'd be calling him Ð’афли. Try to say THAT 10 times fast.

...ok, just try to say it ONCE!
~Katie

This is not a sponsored post, review or anything of the sort. We were just so thrilled with this t-shirt, we HAD to share it with you!

Pillow Party

Hi everyone, Katie here.

A few weeks ago I was visiting my fashionista friend Allie, from A Tonk's Tail...you know, the one with the pawsome pink mani-pedi? Well she turned me onto this fabulous find from Eclectic Pillows. When I saw that Sara Klassen, the artist behind the pillows, had actually used MY own profile to create them...well I just knew that Glogirly had to have them. And it didn't hurt they matched her new rug.

The pillow covers are made from a hip midcentury modern upholstery fabric with a leatherette kitty silhouette applique. The kitty even has whiskers. They're almost as beautiful as me. Almost.

Sara has a cute little Etsy Shop with some black & white kitty pillows we also adore.

Now if I can just move these pillows to a chair that doesn't spin around every time I jump onto it. I've never been much for amusement park rides.

Thank you, Sara & Eclectic Pillows...we LOVE our Kitty, I mean Katie Pillows.

The Dancing Cat

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Ok it's MY birthday week and MY 200 post milestone week...so why is GLOGIRLY the one getting all the cool stuff?

She's been shopping again. More decorating. Yet ANOTHER package arrived today. Imagine how excited I was when I saw the return address read, "The Dancing Cat."

Toys? No.
Nip? No.
Treats? What do YOU think.

She's all gaga over an artist she found on Etsy. Her name is Jamie Shelman and her shop is called The Dancing Cat. In her Etsy profile Jamie writes that she loves "the thought that our work can make someone happy even if just for a moment and possibly redirect their day or their lives in a positive direction." She and her partner Tom call themselves "art doctors." ...well I sure hope that doesn't have anything to do with the V-E-T.

Here are some of Glogirly's recent art acquisitions -

This one is called Belly Smakin' Good
I think it looks more like Glogirly & Gloman than me.

Ok, THIS one looks like me.

The Dancing Cat Etsy store has SO many wonderful pieces to choose from. The illustrations are printed on a heavy weight 100% cotton rag paper and each is numbered and signed. There's also some great jewelry.

Glogirly is coveting one of the necklaces.
See how she is? More for her, none for me.

Well I'm no Art Doctor...
...but I DO have a few Dancing Cat moves of my own.
