WAFFLES: So Boss, how long do we have to gargle before dinner? Can't we just gargle after dinner?
KATIE: Not gargle, Waffles. Gargoyle. We're posing like gargoyles.
WAFFLES: So what do we do again?
KATIE: Sit very still. Just like me. And look the other way.
WAFFLES: But I like looking at you. You have a very nice gargle.
KATIE: *sigh* Waffles, if we both sit perfectly still on these chairs, perfectly posed, Glogirly will see us from the kitchen and realize it's time for our dinner. Now turn around, I'm hungry.
WAFFLES: This is dumb. How's she going to know it's dinnertime if I don't go to the counter and place my order? She doesn't even see us here. We could starve.
KATIE: Patience, Waffles. Patience.
WAFFLES: It's not working, Boss.
KATIE: Patience...
WAFFLES: I'm going in.

ReplyDeleteIf I walked into a room to find two gargoyles staring at me (no matter how cute), I think I'd back out of the room slowly and then run. Poor Katie; her ingenious plots are always thwarted by Waffles lack of faith. For the six months I had Kitty and Bear, we had a similar situation. Kitty had learned to lay just outside the kitchen - so that while I was cooking, I couldn't miss seeing her, but wouldn't trip over her. Because of my appreciation for that (okay, and the begging look on her face), I'd give her a little bit of whatever I was cooking. When Bear came along, he always had to get on the counter and make a nuisance of himself and you could tell Kitty was laughing at the fool with no game :)
