Mother's Day Cute - How Does YOUR Cat Show Affection?

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss, what time are we supposed to switch?

KATIE:  Switch what?

WAFFLES:  You know, switch off with Glogirly. On account of Mother's Day and all. Remember? We're supposed to take turns.

KATIE:  I'm kind of busy, Waffles. Besides, it looks like you've got your paws full showing off for the camera.

WAFFLES:  I'm not showing off. I'm just being myself. You know, super handsome and stuff.

KATIE:  Exactly.

About Today's Photos
Glogirly and Gloman had to take turns behind the camera in order to catch all the cute that was going on yesterday. Everyone was getting in on the love fest.

Waffles is an equal opportunity lap lover and will curl up with Glogirly, Gloman... just about anybody. We suspect if the UPS man came in the house, Waffles would be eyeing his lap too. But Katie has more discriminating taste. Gloman is the only one she'll (happily) let hold her. That doesn't mean she has any less love for her girl though... she just shows her affection in a different way. When it comes to Glogirly, Katie is much more of a next-to-her-lap cat.

What are the different ways YOUR cats show their affection?

  1. Heh. It's an all out fight for laps around here. Silly cats

  2. My human's financial advisor stopped by the other day, and Binga was all over him, hanging out on the dining room table and begging for attention! I stopped by too to say hi, but geez, talk about attention whores! She even gave him a love nip.

  3. We like laps or sitting right beside mommy too. Also, there's the endearing sleeping on her chest/belly or head at night! MOL!

  6. Rufus the Red and Waffles are so similar - Rufus has never met a lap that he doesn't love. I wonder if it's an orange cat thing...

  7. Believe it or not, I'm not a lap cat. Oh I show lots of affection...I rub all over the humans and I love to sleep on the mom's feet. But Ernie...he's a lap cat...an in-your-face cat. And Zoey...well, she has her way of showing affection by not showing it. ;) ~Wally

  8. Mo and Tommy are the lap lovers around here. Ivy is more an "arm of the chair" kind of girl....

  9. Ichiro likes to be high up and he sits behind the Woman's head... Or on it. Like with me. Sigh.

  11. Maybe that is Katie's way of thanking Gloman for taking her out of the shelter and into your home...

  12. Very appropriate for Mother's Day. I am not a lap cat - may split myself between the back feet on the chair arm and front feet on the lap. But I will get close especially for sleeping, and love to be held on a shoulder - Mom's shoulder to be exact. Dad it good for brushes.

  13. There are five of us and each has her own way of showing affection. For example, Valentina demands to have her own chair next to Z-girl when she works and will go back and forth from her lap back to the chair all day. She is also a "drop and roll" kitty. Manhattan is a huge, and we mean huge, snugglebug--but on her terms. Bessie and Lulu sleep on the bed with Z-girl and purr like mad, walk all over her--but refuse to be picked up. And me, Coco--I *only* snuggle with Z-girl. I do not like anyone else to touch me if she is around. I am not really a lap cat but I will lay down on her if she is watching TV--so long as none of the other kitties are nearby. Otherwise, I like to curl up next to or near Z-girl, but I like there to be clearance around my space. So clearly WE understand that Katie and Waffles have different preferences!

  14. Zorro is a lap cat, and me, I cuddle next to Claire for a while once or twice a day, and then I go. But I chat. A lot. Purrs

  15. Hope you had a pawesome Mother's Day! My fave way that Cody shows affection (although he has a bunch of ways!) is to "hold my hand" when we watch TV or if I fall asleep on the couch. Cody has always been extremely tactile with his paws (he loves having his paw pads rubbed) and he will grab at things like a human lol. He will reach out to hold my hand on his own. I just adore it! catchatwithcarenandcody

  16. So glad you all had a wonderful Mother's Day...Mudpie is a lap cat but only when it's chilly!

  17. I'm a lap cat, Derby was like Katie. He would sit next to mum and rest his head on her.

  18. Truffle and Brulee show affection on their own terms. They each have their special location in the house where they choose to be affectionate. They're near me all the time, but aren't lap kitties.

  19. I wonder if I broke into the townhouse and sat down on a chair if Waffles would sit on my lap. It would be worth the risk to get me some Waffles love!
