Testing, One, Two, Chicken! We've Got an Announcement!

WAFFLES:  *tap, tap, tap*  Helloooo... is this thing on? The Boss and I have a very important announcement. Uh, Boss? What's the announcement again?

KATIE:  The BlogPaws Nose to Nose Awards, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  Oh yeah. What about them again?

KATIE:  Nominations are open.

WAFFLES:  They are???

KATIE:  Waffles, I thought we agreed that you'd make the announcement.

WAFFLES:  Can you just make the announcement? I think I have announcement-itis.

KATIE:  Funny, you don't seem to have announcement-itis when you announce it's time for dinner.

Waffles is right though. It's much easier to ask for dinner than it is to ask for an award.


Nominations Open  Thru Tuesday April 12
This is the fifth year of the BlogPaws Nose to Nose Pet Blogging and Social Media Awards. They are among the most prestigious in pet social media and blogging, honoring excellence in creative content. They're judged by a distinguished panel of of pet advocates, professional bloggers, writers and pet industry experts. Unlike so many other contests or awards, these are not based on popularity or how many Twitter friends you have. That's what makes them so meaningful.

Anyone can nominate a blog. In fact anyone can nominate as many blogs as they like in as many categories as they like. We'll be nominating lots of our favorites and we hope you do too.

How to Nominate
We would be absolutely tickled if you find yourself compelled to nominate us...but please don't feel obligated. We've been very honored to have received five Nose-to-Nose awards since they began in 2012. As Waffles would say, "Our bucket of chicken runneth over."

There are 12 categories, including Best Humor Blog, Best Photo, Best Blog Post... to name a few. There's a short form to fill out. BlogPaws will ask you for three pieces of information when nominating a blog.

A couple of awards we've never had the honor of taking home are Best Humor Blog and Best Photo. Those are probably the two things we get most excited about when putting together our posts... and even more so when you tell us something made you laugh out loud or sent soda spewing out your nose. ...sorry about that, the carbonation can really sting.

Since BlogPaws asks for specific URLs to blog posts and photos in these categories, we took a spin through the last year of posts and picked out our own faves. At the very least, we think you'll get a few giggles out of our Best Of list.

What about Best Cat Blog?
This year we're disqualified from the Best Cat Blog Category. Don't worry, we didn't do anything wrong. It's not because Waffles grabbed a chicken drumstick off the kitchen counter or because he TP'd the townhouse. We've won Best Cat Blog for the past two years and there's a new rule stating that we are disqualified from winning that particular award for three years. There are SO many blogs deserving of this award though and we're very excited to find out who will win!

As a result, Waffles is thinking of starting up a dog blog.
