Postcards from the Cats - Our Girl is Coming Home!

Dear Glogirly,

Today's the day! Today's the day!  Uh, today's the day, right?

Me and the Boss are waiting for you and we can't wait to see you and all the presents you're bringing us.

You are bringing presents, right? Doodie free?

See you soon!

Love,
Waffles

KATIE:  Doodie free??? Did you really just say that?

WAFFLES:  Well yeah. You don't want a bunch of doodie all over our presents do you?

She's Coming Home!
Thanks for keeping us company during Glogirly and Gloman's Icelandic Adventure. And special thanks to our most awesome cat sitter and her fishmonger fiancé.

It's been ten sleeps twenty meals and an untold number of litter scoopings since we've seen our girl.

We hope you've enjoyed our vacation postcards and blog posts.

Glogirly's got some serious laundry, napping and cat cuddling to catch up on this weekend. Three of our very favorite things. See you Monday!

Postcards from the Cats - Day 8

Dear Glogirly,

The cat sitter is doing a pretty good job. Even though she's still keeping the food locked up, she's got a fiancĂ© guy with a great lap. The cat sitter says I like him because he's a fishmonger. I don't know what that is, but he smells REALLY good and his fingers taste like tuna. And salmon.

The Boss doesn't think the cat sitter can tell time though on account of we didn't get our 5 o'clock dinner until 5:07pm yesterday.

Are you coming home soon? The Boss is antsy.

Love,
Waffles

KATIE:  Antsy??? Did you see the clock, Waffles? Dinner is LATE. A whole seven minutes late. We're going to starve.

WAFFLES:  What should we do, Boss?

KATIE: Well you could start by pacing back and forth.

WAFFLES:  Does that really work?

KATIE:  It can't hurt. It's not like we can say, "Hey Cat Sitter! Did you forget something? Dinner time was seven, now EIGHT minutes ago." Tick tock, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  I'm on it, Boss.

WAFFLES:  Is it working?

Counting the Days...

Thanks for visiting us while Glogirly & Gloman are vacationing in Iceland. Our cat sitter is taking great care of us... though the food portions are a bit scant. Nothing a few sad and pleading looks can't take care of though.

We hope you're enjoying our vacation postcards.

We'll be back to our regular programming soon!

Postcards from the Cats - Day 6

Dear Glogirly,

So I really appreciate you leaving your bed unmade, just the way I like it, but somekitty doesn't seem to understand that it's really a one-cat bed. And for the record, the cat sitter is no help at all.

Sure, she's learning about how important punctuality is when it comes to mission critical meal service. But she actually thinks it's somehow cute finding an orange intruder in your bed.

All I can say is you're going to want to wash the sheets when you get home. Presoak. Heavy duty. HOT.

– Katie

While Glogirly's Away,
There's Shenanigans at Play
WAFFLES:  Want to play in the sheets, Boss?

KATIE:  What. With you?

WAFFLES:  Ok, let's play Tag!

KATIE:  Tag? Yeah, let's not.

WAFFLES:  Too late. You already said yeah. TAG! You're IT!

Postcards from the Cats - Day 3

Dear Glogirly,

So are you SURE you left enough food for me and the Boss while you're on vacation?

And are you SURE the cat sitter knows how much I eat everyday?

And are you SURE she knows where we keep all the food and stuff?

Maybe we should just put ALL the food on the kitchen counter. Yeah, that's it. On the kitchen counter. Opened. With the lids off. You know, just to make it easy for her.

Love,
Waffles

WAFFLES:  So Boss. I'm going to get the cat sitter to put ALL the food out on the kitchen counter. Are you in?

KATIE:  Are you kidding? You're just going to eat it all. And then where will we be?

WAFFLES:  Uh, right here. In the kitchen.

KATIE:  So I'm supposed to trust you that you won't eat all the food? Including all of MY food?

WAFFLES:  I wouldn't eat all of your food, Boss.

KATIE:  Uh huh.

WAFFLES:  So if I eat some of your food, that's not all of your food.

KATIE:  Define 'some.'

Postcards from the Cats - Vacation Status Day 1

KATIE:  By the time you read this, Glogirly and Gloman will have just landed in Iceland.

WAFFLES:  On purpose?

KATIE:  Yes on purpose. They're on vacation, remember?

WAFFLES:  Can planes land on ice?

KATIE:  Waffles, Iceland isn't made of ice.

WAFFLES:  Well that doesn't make any sense. Then why's it called Iceland?

KATIE:  You had to ask, didn't you?

The Story of Iceland
Legend has it (that's code for this is really just folklore) that once upon a time, there was a disagreement between a bunch of Norwegian Vikings. One group got all huffy, launched their boats and fled. They discovered a really beautiful green island and made it their home. They were scared the other Vikings might come after them so they sent word back to Norway that the island they'd found and settled on was actually an ICE-land. Cold, barely inhabitable. ...but there was this "other island," farther away that was beautiful and green. A GREEN-land.

So that's how the beautiful green island became known as Iceland and the icy island became known as Greenland.

WAFFLES:  So the ice is green? Like on St. Patricks Day?

Missing Our Vacation #SundaySelfies

WAFFLES:  So Boss, what do you miss most about vacation? I miss the seagulls and waves and stuff.

KATIE:  Waffles, what are you talking about? You were scared to death of the seagulls and the waves.

WAFFLES:  Was not!

About Today's Photos
One of the BEST parts of our North Shore vacation was the window watching. We had Seagull TV, Lake TV, Crashing Waves TV... even a little Funny Looking People in Parkas TV. It was like those huge windows that stretched from the floor to the ceiling were made just for cats.

In the first photo, Waffles has his eyes pinned on one of those Parka People walking by out on the frozen rocks. Apparently it was so intriguing he forgot he was playing with his wand toy.

The second photo has me upstairs in the bedroom gazing out a huge corner windows overlooking the lake. Glogirly and I are a lot alike. We really loved just staring out at the bright water and listening to the waves hit the rocks.

The third photo is the FIRST of Waffles' vacation photos. Can you say scardy cat???

Waffles Wednesday: Wait, Did You Say FAMILY Vacation???

WAFFLES:  Wand toys, chicken treats, catnip drumsticks, plenty of food.

Two harnesses, two leashes, blankets and my travel scratcher.

Fresh litter, litter box, litter scoop.

Glogirly's pillow–

KATIE:  Wait. Glogirly's pillow???

WAFFLES:  Well yeah... what am I going to sleep on? We can't go on vacation without Glogirly's pillow.

KATIE:  Wait. VACATION???

WAFFLES:  Didn't you hear? We're going on a family vacation!

KATIE:  Wait. WE???

WAFFLES:  Yeah, Boss. You, me, Glogirly and Gloman. We're going on vacation! In the car and everything! Isn't that cool? We're going up north to some really big lake and we're going to stay in a congo.

KATIE:  You mean condo. I hope.

WAFFLES: Yeah. A condo. All FOUR of us! We're going to play games, watch movies, eat snacks and nap by the fire.

KATIE:  WHY was I not consulted on this? This is like the worst Waffles Wednesday blog post EVER.

WAFFLES:  Sheesh, someone woke up on the wrong side of the suitcase.

Glogirly IN, Cat Sitter OUT

Dear Glogirly,

Is it really true??? You're coming home today???

The cat sitter was just getting good at protecting me and my breakfast from the food thief. Apparently Waffles decided that since there was a new sheriff in town, it was open-season on my food dish.

Don't worry, I haven't completely withered away to nothing. Yet.

But I wouldn't dilly-dally if I were you.

Hurry,
Katie

WAFFLES:  Is she home yet?

KATIE:  No, but she's on her way.

WAFFLES:  So the cat sitter is moving out?

KATIE:  Suitcase and all.

WAFFLES:  I bet she needs help. I should go help her pack!

KATIE:  You should definitely help with her bags.

WAFFLES:  Ok, Boss.

KATIE:  Be sure to leave some orange fur in her suitcase. *whispers - like about 10 pounds of orange fur*

It's Been 9 Days Since Glogirly Left ...
And she's FINALLY coming home!

Thanks for visiting us while Glogirly & Gloman have been galavanting across the US. We hope you enjoyed our vacation postcards.

We'll be back to our regular programming soon!

Remember: Make Every Moment Count

Dear Glogirly,

Waffles and I want you to know that we haven't forgotten what today is. Our hearts go out to those whose lives were shattered on this day 13 years ago. We can't take away the loss or rewrite history, but we can honor those who've suffered by remembering and making every moment we live truly matter.

Love,
Katie & Waffles

"Life is fleeting, impermanent, and uncertain. Therefore we must make use of every moment and nurture it with affection, tenderness, beauty, creativity and laughter."
-Deepak Chopra, M.D.

It's Been 8 Days Since Glogirly Left

Dear Friends,
While Glogirly & Gloman are galavanting across the country, we'll continue to post daily updates on my mental state, physical concision and the goings-on here at the Townhouse. In particular, I'll be monitoring Waffles' behavior and issuing demerits for all infractions.

Sadly we won't be able to visit blogs much and our Facebook page just might start breeding dust bunnies. If you usually come here straight from Facebook, you might want to consider subscribing by email. Otherwise it's going to get mighty lonely around here.

love,
Katie
