Cats in the Closet #WafflesWednesday

*EAR WORM ALERT:  Cat's in the Cradle by Harry Chapin*

♫♩ And the cats in the closet in the afternoon ♫♩
Little boy cat and Miss Katie too.

♫♩ When you comin' out, Waff? "I don't know when." ♫♩

♫♩ But we'll get together then. ♫♩
You know we'll have a good time–

KATIE:  Wait. Define "good time."

WAFFLES:  dun-dun-dun, da-da-da-da-da  ♫♩♫

About Today's Photos
Last week we had a photo shoot at the Townhouse. Something for a new freelance project that Glogirly has. And something that apparently has nothing to do with cats. (GASP!) In preparation for the shoot, we all had to endure a full day of mad cleaning. Lots of vacuuming and lots of stashing. Our Sleepypods ended up in the master bedroom walk-in closet. (GASP AGAIN!)

The next afternoon, Glogirly crawled into bed for a much needed nap. She had her laptop and was checking emails when she heard Katie's soft little snore. (GASP! Katie snores?) But she couldn't figure out where Katie was, so she looked around, peeked in the closet and found both Katie & Waffles slumbering away in their side-by-side Sleepypods.

It just goes to show... where there are Sleepypods, there are cats. Even in the closet.

About Today's Song
Here's a really interesting performance of Cat's in the Cradle with an introduction by Harry Chapin's widow, Sandy Chapin, and their son, Josh Chapin. The song's lyrics began as a poem written by Sandy long before Josh was born. It wasn't until after their son's birth that Harry realized he needed to put music to the poem. Harry Chapin died in 1981 at the age of 38.

Katie & Waffles' Vet Adventure

WAFFLES:  Over the river and through the woods, to Grand-girly's house we go! ♫♩

KATIE:  I hate to break it to you, Waffles. But there is no Grand-girly's house.

WAFFLES:  Then where are we going over the river and through the woods to?

KATIE:  Right, right, left. Freeway. Left, left, right. That can only mean one thing.

WAFFLES:  Cool, we're going in circles! Like at the amusement park!

KATIE:  VET, Waffles. We're going to the vet.

WAFFLES:  What a ripoff. No cheese fries and no roller coasters?

KATIE:  Waffles, you're not supposed to eat cheese fries and as for the roller coaster, well life is already enough of a thrill ride when it comes to you.

WAFFLES:  I still say cheese fries would be better. So who's going first?

KATIE:  After you, Waffles. Way, way after you.

WAFFLES:  Ok, Boss. Wish me luck!

WAFFLES:  What do you mean I have to cut back on my cavalries?

KATIE:  Calories, Waffles. Not cavalries. That means you're supposed to eat less.

WAFFLES:  Eat LESS? You mean like less FOOD?

WAFFLES:  Ok, can we go back to the part where we all get cheese fries?

WAFFLES:  It's your turn, Boss. Watch out for the one with the gloves.

KATIE:  Oh, I'm watching out for her alright. And if she's smart she'll be watching out for me.

About Today's Vet Visit Photos
Not even 24 hours after National Cat Day, and the day before Halloween, Katie and Waffles found themselves road-tripping to the vet for their annual physicals. Sounds like way more tricking than treating.

Waffles' Results
Waffles is a happy, healthy mancat. But a little too healthy, according to the scale. His ideal weight is 10.5 pounds and he's inched his way up to 11. Nothing serious, but his portions are going to be scaled back just a tad. According to the vet, his daily calorie intake needs to hover at about 185. Sorry, Waff. No cheese fries for you.

Katie's Results
At 10 years old, Katie is now considered a (shhh!) senior cat. She came home with the senior blood panel bandage of honor. (Orange for Halloween) No results yet, but we're not expecting any surprises. Still, it's a good idea to make sure all is well, what with cats being such masters of disguise when it comes to any ailments.
Because of Katie's IBD, she's been given as much food as she's wanted for the past few months. Mostly in an effort to keep her eating regularly and bring her up from 9 to about 10 pounds. Well that worked a little too well. Let's just say the Waffles won't be the only one trimming back his calorie intake.

One thing that Glogirly is doing to help Katie feel more full so she's not asking for 5 or 6 meals a day, is adding some warm water to her food. For example, in the morning when Katie gets 1/4 cup of whole ground rabbit, Glogirly adds 1/4 cup of water. So far, Katie is lapping it all up and hasn't been begging for multiple meals.

Comfy, Cozy, Safe
We get so many great comments and questions from people at out vet's office whenever we show up in our Sleepypods. Did you know that they're the only company that conducts actual safety crash tests on their carriers? Whenever we ride, we always buckle up!

Waffles' Super Powers and the Sleepypod Tryst

WAFFLES:  *whispers* Be very, very quiet.

WAFFLES:  *whispers* I'm practicing my secret invisible super powers.

WAFFLES:  *whispers* The Boss has NO idea that I'm–

KATIE:  Waffles, you do know the white Sleepypod is mine, right?

WAFFLES: *whispers* Boss, I'm not really here on account of I'm invisible.

KATIE:  Seriously Waffles, I can totally see you.

WAFFLES:  You just THINK you see me, Boss.

KATIE:  No, I see you.

WAFFLES:  SEE! It works! It works! My super invisible secret powers work. I can make you THINK you see me.

KATIE:  That's a great trick, Waffles. How about you use those super power to make me NOT see you?

About Today's Photos
Katie and Waffles may have checked ' √⃞ It's Complicated' for their Facebook relationship status, but we have photographic proof that may not be 100% accurate.

Every morning after breakfast service and drinks at the fountain, Katie and Waffles meet up at the white Sleepypod on the big blue ottoman.

Whoever gets there first has dibs. Whoever gets there late, assumes the position just outside the pod.

Although skirmishes break out regularly at the daily meal service, it's all peace, harmony, sunshine and rainbows at the pod.

Sorry, Waffles. We think the Sleepypod is the one with secret supers powers.

Hide & Seek FAIL #SundaySelfies

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss! Want to play hide and seek?

KATIE:  Do I have a choice?

WAFFLES:  C'mon Boss! It'll be fun. Just close your eyes, I'll count to chicken and then you try to find me.

KATIE:  Are you in the Sleepypod?

WAFFLES:  BOSS!! You're not supposed to find me until I count to chicken!

KATIE:  But I already know you're in the Sleepypod.

WAFFLES:  No I'm not.

KATIE:  Yes you are.

WAFFLES:  No I'm not.

KATIE:  Waffles...

WAFFLES:  Ok - One, two, four, CHICKEN! Open you eyes, Boss!

KATIE:  Waffles, I don't even need to open my eyes. You're still in the Sleepypod.

WAFFLES:  BOSS! You're cheating.

KATIE:  Mancats are so predictable. Especially the orange ones.

About Today's Photos
You'd think after our 2,000+ mile road trip, zipped up in a Sleepypod for untold hours, Waffles would have had enough. Not so. We know you've seen our cool looking pods in lots of our photos...that's because we have them out all the time. As a result, both, Katie and Waffles hang out in them almost every single day. Especially Waffles. If Glogirly is sitting in the fireplace room where we keep our white one, he's ALWAYS hanging out inside the pod. Sometimes he sleeps, sometimes he plays and sometimes he just stares out into space like he's got marshmallows between his ears. Oh wait... I think he might.

And because everyone is so comfortable in them, it makes those dreaded trips to the vet so much easier. We know what you're thinking... what about the vet smell? Eau de Vet? Surprisingly, it's had no effect on pod popularity.

This isn't a product review... just another testament to something we really, really love and use everyday.

Pssst!  Did you know that Sleepypod is the only company that conducts actual safety crash tests on their carriers? Whenever we ride, we always buckle up!

#SundaySelfies from the VET???

KATIE:  This is NOT how I expected to spend my weekend. Scooped up in my Sleepypod and carted off to the VET???

It's not the kind of #SundaySelfie I had in mind either.

WAFFLES:  *from across the room*  Hey Boss! Are you having fun yet???

KATIE:  Waffles, you're only here as a ride-along. No commentary is necessary. Or welcome, for that matter.

WAFFLES:  Are you going to play Where's the Thermometer?

KATIE:  Not if I have anything to say about it. But by all means, go ahead. Have fun. Make it a party.

An Unexpected Vet Visit
Though I'm always the first in line for breakfast in the morning, Glogirly became concerned when I didn't show up Friday for my usual AM chicken pate. Even my favorite snacks weren't enough to coax me out of my cushy sleep spot.

After a quick phone call to our vet, it was decided that if I was still showing signs of a hunger strike the following morning, I'd need to get myself hauled in. So the whole family took a field trip to the Vet yesterday:  Me, Gloman, Glogirly and Waffles.

Please don't worry about me...it's nothing serious. I'm just having a little GI flare up and to be safe am now taking an antibiotic and appetite stimulant. Oh, and the appetite stimulant? WORKING! Bring on the chicken pate!

Ride-Along Waffles
Since Waffles has a tendency to get his furry undies in a bundle whenever I come home smelling like the vet, he joined us as a ride-along. So now we both stink. But it's all *peace and harmony* back at the Townhouse.

The moment we got home, and I do mean the MOMENT, Waffles apparently decided the ride-along was so much fun, he hopped out of his own Sleepypod and right into MINE.

Two minutes later... this is Waffles' #SundaySelfie:

WAFFLES:  ZZzzzzzzz.

We ♥︎ Our Sleepypods
Many of our friends ask for advice on pet carriers. We just can't say enough great things about Sleepypod. It's truly the best of the best when it comes to pet carriers and beds. They make trips to the vet much easier and less stressful and the vets LOVE how easy they make the examination process. We even love using them at home for hiding, playing and of course... sleeping.

Double Date

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss! Are you ready for our double date?

KATIE:  Double Date??? In THIS??? There's so many things wrong with that statement, I don't know where to start.

WAFFLES:  You can ride in your own carrier if you want.

WAFFLES:  I'll even let you pick which one!

WAFFLES:  I KNOW you really like the round one!

KATIE:  Don't get too ahead of yourself, Waffles. Let's go back. Double DATE???

WAFFLES:  Yeah! Glogirly said we're BOTH going to the vet on Monday.

KATIE:  Whoa, whoa, whoa...  the VET???

WAFFLES:  Didn't you get the email?

KATIE:  Email? Since when do you get email?

WAFFLES:  We got an email from Dr. Karlin inviting us in for a wellness visit. Doesn't that sound like fun? I bet there's treats and games and stuff.

KATIE:  Yeah like, Where's the Thermometer.

WAFFLES:  Is that like Hide and Seek?

KATIE:  No but come Monday morning I'm going to hide. And Glogirly's going to have to seek.

WAFFLES:  Don't worry, Boss. I bet that Where's the Thermometer game is going to be fun!

A Double Date to Remember
That's right, Waffles and I are going to the vet TOGETHER on Monday. You may have read about Waffles and his recent Displacement Aggression. It's very common when just one cat from a household visits the vet and comes home smelling like... well, the VET.  One thing you can do to help prevent that sort of thing is to visit the vet together. Not sure I'd go as far as to call it a double date though.
