KATIE: Flip over?
WAFFLES: Yeah, how long before I need to flip over so I don't get tan lines.
KATIE: Waffles, we're cats. We don't get tan lines.
WAFFLES: Yeah we do. Just look at all these stripes on me.
KATIE: Waffles, you're a tabby cat. Tabbies are striped. You've even got that big M on your forehead to prove it.
WAFFLES: But I thought it was a W for Waffles.
About Today's Photos
Ever since we got back from our vacation, Glogirly's been rearranging furniture and loungers to help us maximize the sun puddle real estate here at the Townhouse. Our vacation condo had HUGE windows and the sun poured in all day long. It was the best napping we've EVER had. But direct sun is pretty limited around here. Rumor has it, the primo windows are going to start taking reservations.
We don't often take pictures in direct sunlight. We usually opt for indirect natural light. It's very soft and even. Technically speaking, direct sun it's very challenging when it comes to photography. Even more challenging is a mixture sun and shade. The camera doesn't know whether to expose the photo properly for the sun or the shade. Sure, there are ways around that. We could change some of the settings on the camera, or try and fill the shadows with a flash. Sometimes we just grab the camera and hope for the best, and sometimes we grab Gloman, a.k.a the resident photography expert. *wink*

Oh, sweet Waffles. Your take on things is just priceless ;)
ReplyDeleteSun is wonderful. I love the days when it appears. It's elusive around here in the winter and spring.
ReplyDeleteHey, I got dem tan lines too. But I can't seem to get dark no matter how much I lie in da sun.
ReplyDeletehehehe oh waffles what are we going to do with you,xx Speedy
ReplyDeleteI envy your sunpuddles! I'm at a cat show this weekend, so I'm either stuck in a huge hall or a sun puddle-less hotel room. I'm looking forward to getting back home to some nice, direct sun!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your sun puddles ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteAwww..that's so sweet...MOL... I think it is the W...it's how we want to see it ;) Pawkisses for a Sunny Sunday :) <3
ReplyDeleteSun puddles are difficult to shoot. I have been trying to get a series of good ones but I gave up and posted filtered through a curtain coziness for selfie Sunday. The sun will keep on coming though so I'll photo on (much to Amelia's sunny snoozing dismay!)
ReplyDeleteOur mommy has been talking about a tan for awhile ... She says something about looking "pastie"?!? But we don't see our colors changing ....
ReplyDeleteYes, Waffles, I think you have a W on your forehead too.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your sun puddles!
I love that Glogirly is rearranging your home for maximum sun puddle exposure. Now that's catification!
ReplyDeleteLOL! You both are funny! My cat bro Bert has some striped tan lines too! I bet you really enjoyed tanning yesterday. It was so nice out!
ReplyDeleteGreat selfies !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, sunlit Waffles! Don't even think about strips, we've been trying to get more "orange" ourselves and shed some of our strip\es but it can't be done! - Peaches & Paprika
ReplyDeleteRegardless of the techniques or who took the photos, they are all gorgeous! Purrs from Deb and the Zee/Zoey Gang!
ReplyDeleteWe love the sunshine! And we're getting lots of it today.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a W for Waffles :) Time to flip over :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute Waffles..Hugs..
ReplyDeleteDat is why my house is best. It faces southeast. So if we have sun, the living room, and two front bedrooms have sun in the AM, afternoon-the bay window in the kitchen with the table in front (mum doesn't even mind me being on the table), late afternoon into evening, the big windows that go to the floor and mum sleepy room window. Life is good with sun puddles.
ReplyDeleteBwa! Haa!! Haaa!!! Yous guys cracks mes up! \And Waffles, cats flip when one side gets hotter than the other or every 4 hours, which ever comes first.

Enjoy your sunpuddles Katie and Waffles! We thought the W stood for Waffles too, MOL
ReplyDeleteSasha, Sami, & Saku
those are more like "sultry selfies" :)
ReplyDeleteTaking a photo of a black and white cat in part sun / part shade is one of the biggest photo challenges. With my two black-and-whites, I find it quite hard to take a good picture when they're sun bathing.

We love these photos. Selfies where we get toes along with faces are the best. Waffles you continue to crack us up. Only you would think that "M" is a "W." Thank you, dear friends, for joining and supporting our blog hop. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteLovely selfies from both of you.
ReplyDeleteJust adorable. Have a great day.

I love it! Yes it can be W for Waffles!! Looks like you had a relaxing Sunday. It was the first day of warmth here in Quebec Canada after all that cold we've had we are finally seeing spring!
ReplyDeleteI love your selfies! Waffles, as a ginger tabby myself, named Spike William, I agree that my forehead stripes might also be a "W" for William!
ReplyDeletePurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs, Spike William
Awesome selfies, Katie and Waffles! And it looks like you caught some good rays, too. :)
ReplyDeleteAll lighting situations are challenging to TW. I guess she’s lucky we don’t get direct sunlight in here. Per usual, your photos are great.
ReplyDeletehowever you take photos, they are always stupendous!
