KATIE:  Don't you mean resolution?

WAFFLES:  That's what I said. What are you revoluting?

KATIE:  I'm not revoluting anything. That isn't even a word, Waffles. It's RESOLUTIONS.

You're supposed to define your goals for the new year. You know...things you want to accomplish. Things you'd like to do better. I'm happy to help. In fact, I've taken the liberty of putting a spreadsheet together for you.

WAFFLES:  Spreadsheet? You mean like laundry?

Cat Time on the Computer #WafflesWednesday

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss! I think I should start my own blog.

KATIE:  We already have a blog, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  Yeah but it's not really my blog. I want mine.

KATIE:  There's a lot that goes into blogging, Waffles. Are you sure you're up to the task?

WAFFLES:  I think I'll name it "Waffles the Amazing-Handsome-Supercat."  Do you like it, Boss? It's got a ring, doesn't it?

KATIE:  It's got something. 

WAFFLES:  Cool. I'm all set. Now I just have to spend the day on the computer. 

KATIE:  Aren't you going to start writing? 

WAFFLES:  Writing? What writing? I'm busy. Can't you see I'm on the computer?

KATIE:  Waffles, blogging isn't about spending the whole day ON the computer.

WAFFLES:  What do you mean? That's what Glogirly does.

About Today's Photos

Rest assured, Waffles is most certainly not starting his own blog. Now that Gloman is home for Christmas vacation, Waffles has settled into his latest lounging spot.  Not sure if it's the warmth of the spinning hard drive, the dancing colors on the screen or that he's positioned for maximum attention... but this is one of his favorite spots.

Sure looks like he's going to be on the computer all day. What do you want to bet he doesn't get a thing done?

WAFFLES:  Are we sure he knows where we live? 

KATIE:  I think you should be more concerned about the whole naughty-nice list thing.

WAFFLES:  There's a LIST thing? What kind of list thing?

KATIE:  A LONG list thing.

Just two days until the man in red squeezes down our chimney! Christmas is one of our favorite times of the year. Presents are fun, boxes with tissue, toys and treats... But we all get a little misty and sentimental here too. For us, Christmastime is sprinkled with memories of special moments and those people and pets that have left their imprint on our hearts.

Thank you for letting us into your hearts and homes all these years. Your friendship and smiles mean the world to us. We wish you and your families a joyous holiday filled with love, wonder and wishes that come true.

Santa's Little Cat Helper Then & Now #WafflesWednesday

Shhhhh.... Santa's little helper is sleeping. 

WAFFLES:  Sleeping? I'm not sleeping. How can I sleep? What if Santa needs help? You know, like making sure I'm at the top of his Nice list. 

WAFFLES:  Because I'd never EVER make his Naughty list. Ever.

Even at just a few months old, Waffles was wearing his holiday red. Ok, so he's not really a hat-wearing kind of cat, so Glogirly snuck that little Santa hat on him while he was snoozing. That first picture was taken on Christmas Day 2012, just a few weeks after Waffles came to live with us.

Ever since growing up into the handsome mancat he is today, he's been donning his Santa coat every year. It's styled like a harness so it fits very similarly to his regular harnesses. That's just one of Glogirly's tips in a new article she wrote about how to take festive photos of pets for the holidays.

Secret Santa Kitty-Style

WAFFLES:  What's going in the box, Boss?

KATIE:  Oh nothing for you to be concerned with Waffles... it's just our Secret Paws gift.

WAFFLES:  Cool! What are we giving them?

KATIE:  *Whispers - You mean WHO are we giving them*  It's a secret, Waffles. That's why they call it Secret Paws. 

WAFFLES:  Secret? I like secrets!

KATIE:  Yeah, this looks about right. A 10 lb. orange cat should fit just fine.

You know what they say - If it fits, they ship.

WAFFLES:  Whaddya mean if I fits they ship? 

KATIE:  I told you Waffles, it's a secret. 

About Today's Photos

One of our most favorite parts of Christmas each year is Secret Paws. It's like Secret Santa except for cats with blogs. Cat bloggers are a close knit community of friends from around the world and Secret Paws is one of the ways we celebrate those special friendships we've made. 

The lovely Miss Paula from Sweet Purrfections has been organizing it for more years than even Katie can count. Each year she matches us up with another cat blogger, sends us a super secret email with details about them like what their favorite color is, what they love to play with, etc... Then we go shopping and wrap up all sorts of surprises. 

It's as much fun for the humans as it is for the cats. And a wonderful way of connecting with faraway friends. 

Word on the snowy street is an important package arrived just this weekend for Katie & Waffles. Glogirly's got it safely hidden (under lock and key) for now... but once Waffles breaks the code, we'll be sure to share the surprises with you!

A Cat Walk Down Memory Lane with Katie #KittenWeek #TidyCats Giveaway

KATIE:  Nearly 12 years ago, a stranger with kind eyes and a warm, deep voice peered into my cage at the shelter. He was with his son and they were whispering about how surprised and excited a certain girl was going to be. 

After a bumpy car ride in a tiny cardboard box with little air holes, we arrived at a place called the Townhouse. It was much bigger than my little cage at the shelter and it smelled nice too. It was a little scary at first, but the nice man whispered to me that everything was going to be ok. He put a little tag on my collar that read, Happy Anniversary, and I started darting up the stairs and exploring this big, new place. 

That's when I met my girl. She was folding towels on a huge bed and caught just a glimpse of me as I raced through the hallway and into the bedroom. Wth tears in her eyes, she scooped me up and held me close. I was home.

As she tells it, she loved me from the moment she saw me. I thought she was pretty ok too. I'm just glad she decided to name me Katie and not Happy Anniversary.

It's Throwback #KittenWeek

In honor of Kitten Week (one of the best weeks of the year!) our friends at Tidy Cats surprised us with a very special gift. The photo you see above was taken on Katie's first night in the Townhouse, her new forever home. In fact, it's one of her first photos ever. Tidy Cats created a beautiful kitten caticature of Katie for us to keep and cherish forever. 

It's all part of Throwback #KittenWeek and a perfect way to celebrate the memories we've shared with our cats from kittenhood to adulthood and everything in-between. Just as cats have been such an important part of our every day here, so too has our litter. And what better way to celebrate than with a great giveaway!

Waffles Who???

Waffles, Waffles, Waffles!

This blog began with Katie way back in 2009. It wasn't until Thanksgiving weekend, 2012, that the orange ball of fluffy personality moved in. Waffles turned our world AND our blog upside down and sideways. They couldn't be more different. Waffles is the extrovert whereas Katie is the consummate introvert. 

Waffles has a Pavoratti-esque singing voice. Katie's is soft and sweet. 

When it comes to trouble and mischief, Katie never gets caught. Waffles though, has his paws in and on everything. He can't get away with a thing.

Katie loves to twirl around on the steps, playing with her catnip pickle. Waffles loves to twirl around four feet in the air, chasing his wand toys and red dots. 

Waffles loves chicken. Katie prefers duck. 

And their girl couldn't possibly love them more.

WAFFLES: Glogirly says I look like some old statue of a naked thinker guy. But I'm not naked. And I'm not thinking either.

Wait... if I'm talking to myself, does that mean I'm thinking?

What about breakfast. I *think* I'll sample the Boss' breakfast first. OMG, I think I'm thinking.

Ok... what about chicken. I *think* I'd like a bucket of chicken, please. Extra crispy. With gravy, to go. There I go again! Pretty sure I'm thinking AGAIN!

Nice Scratcher

WAFFLES:  Uh oh. Here comes the Boss and she's got that get-off-my-scratcher look on her face. I better scram on account of she's also got that I-mean-business look on her face.

*two minutes later*

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss. Nice scratcher.

KATIE:  You're not getting the scratcher, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  But I wasn't even–

KATIE:  You're not fooling anybody. You've got that I-want-your-scratcher look on your face. I can see it a mile away. Why don't you go scratch on that other scratcher, right over there?

WAFFLES:  But I really like this scratcher.

KATIE:  Occupied, Waffles. Occupied.

WAFFLES:  Would it be occupied if the UPS man was coming to the door? 

KATIE:  What UPS man?

WAFFLES: The one who's going to ring the doorbell in 3, 2, 1...

KATIE:  DOORBELL?!

WAFFLES:  The Boss is even more scared of the imaginary UPS man than the real one.

About Today's Photos

Today's photos all take place on the most popular scratcher in the Townhouse. It sits in the fireplace room right next to the kitchen counter where all of Katie & Waffles' meals are prepped. That means it gets a LOT of scratch action. 

Although it's not likely Waffles was trying to fool Katie about the UPS man coming to the door, these photos do illustrate what a planner and schemer Waffles is. He's often a few steps ahead in his furry little mind, plotting and planning his next scratcher, toy or food dish takeover. Rest assured though, Katie is still the boss of him. She may have leaped off the scratcher this time, but she'll be sure to find a way to even the score.
