Dinnertime Surprise

WAFFLES:  It's 4:43.  Where is every buddy?

ELLIE:  What do you mean, Mr. Waffles?

WAFFLES:  We're going to STARVE. It's 4:44 and no one is home. You better get over here. We may need to coordinate an assault on the big fridge.

ELLIE:  I'm kind of busy, Mr. Waffles. There's butterflies and stuff.

WAFFLES:  Dinner is WAY more important than butterflies, Ellie.

ELLIE:  But there's all kinds of cool smells and bugs. It's all breezy too. Don't worry, it's not windy. I know you're scared of the wind.

WAFFLES:  That's it. It's 5:01. We're doomed. You need to take this seriously, Ellie. Enough with the windows and breezy bugs already...

ELLIE:  Mmmmm, this one smells really good.

WAFFLES:  ELLIE!!!

ELLIE:  You don't have to panic, Mr. Waffles. Glogirly and Gloman went over to the vet's house for dinner. They said they'd be home soon.

WAFFLES:  Wait. WHAT??? They went to the VET'S house??? For DINNER??? It's the end of the world.

About Today's Photos

Ellie was right. Glogirly and Gloman really did spend the evening with our vet, her husband, and sister in law. And an untold number of kitties. How on earth did that happen? Glogirly and our vet's sister in law met in a ski group over the winter and have been swooshing down the slopes together ever since. Her brother has joined in as well...and he just happens to be married to our vet. This whole friendship triangle was never approved by Waffles.

Don't tell him, but it won't be long before the vet comes to OUR house for dinner!

Two Years Later - Remembering Katie

WAFFLES:  Hello, earth to Boss! Are you there, Boss? Come in, Boss.

WAFFLES:  It's been two whole years since we had to say goodbye. I know Glogirly still really misses you, Boss. She says there will never be another cat like you.

I want you to know that the present you sent her has helped make her heart happy again. Ellie even looks a little bit like you, Boss. I told her she can't tell me what to do though because YOU'LL always be the Boss. But I've been teaching her stuff like how to watch the birds and bunnies, how to chase bugs. I even taught her how to play fetch and sit on Gloman's lap.

Sometimes I try to steal her breakfast, you know, like I used to do with you. And she even lets me, just like you did.

WAFFLES:  I know you're not coming back, Boss. But this will always be your home and we'll always be your family.

PS - I'm still taking good care of your frog toy and the purple fuzzy heart.

Two Years
In Glogirly's words...
Exactly two years ago we said goodbye to our sweet Katie girl. I think about her everyday as the wind softly blows through the pine trees and her wind chime sings its beautiful song.

I'm so grateful to have been able to share Katie with our friends and readers. When I'm missing her, I find so many wonderful memories though the pages of our blog and the kind comments left by so many of you.

Thank you for welcoming our sweet Ellie into your hearts and inboxes. She's pure joy and a such gift to our family. I think Katie is smiling.

Forever loved.
Forever missed.

Waiting

ELLIE:  So when is Gloman coming home, Mr. Waffles?

WAFFLES:  Tomorrow.

ELLIE:  TOMORROW??? That's like, forever! That's like–

WAFFLES:  Like tomorrow?

ELLIE:  What are we supposed to do until tomorrow, Mr. Waffles?

WAFFLES:  I'm sure you'll figure out something.

ELLIE:  Zzzzz...

About Today's Photos

Our favorite CatDaddy was away on business last week. Meanwhile, Ellie and Waffles kept showing up at the home office, ready for a full days work, only to find they were all alone. After a few days working in the blue chair in the office, and taking care of paperwork on the desk, Ellie and Waffles decided to take a personal day and hang out in the master bedroom. When the supervisor is away...

Waffles also spent some time working on his come hither look. LOL!

The Great Waffles Wagon Hijack

WAFFLES:  Do you ever get that feeling that someone's watching you?

ELLIE:  I can't even see you, Mr. Waffles. How can I be watching you?

WAFFLES:  I can see YOU, Ellie. And I know you're watching me. I wouldn't be surprised if you try and hijack my Waffle Wagon.

ELLIE:  Hijack?

ELLIE:  What's a hijack? I like sitting up here really high and stuff. But my name's not Jack. It's Ellie.

WAFFLES:  Hijack is you trying to steal my Waffle Wagon. I've got your number, Ellie.

ELLIE:  What's my number, Mr. Waffles? I kind of like four. Or maybe two. Yeah, two. Like you and–

WAFFLES:  Not that kind of number, Ellie.

About Today's Photos

Ellie and Waffles LOVE the Waffle Wagon. It's like a rolling playground. Ellie especially loves it when Waffles is IN it. She spends HOURS in and on it every single day. Sometimes she'll just sit in it, waiting for Waffles to join her. Other times, when Waffles is already inside, she'll attempt to negotiate a joint partnership.

Her favorite spot is up on top of the bonnet. It's anything but stable and takes a lot of balance and kitty-agility. And the best part about it is the mesh screen that she can peer at Waffles through and the opening on the sides where she can reach down to tease him and as Gloman calls it, "tweaking his beak." HAHA!

The tray table and cup holder attached to the handle is pretty fun too. That's where Ellie keeps her plastic bottle caps, a.k.a., her other favorite toys.

Ellie's Patches

You may have noticed Ellie is adorning some photoshop flower patches. She's still healing from the reaction she had to the drugs used during her dental extractions back in April. The reaction presented itself dermatologically, and we've been treating her wounds (we call them patches) ever since. She has two somewhat large patches on each side of her body. Her hair is shaved in those areas so we can easily apply her salve to promote healing. She's still taking daily pain meds as well. Skin takes a long time to heal, so it will probably still be a couple of months or more until she's completely healed.
