Shower Duty

WAFFLES:  I'm good enough. I'm smart enough–

ELLIE:  Mr. Waffles! Are you going to help with shower duty?

WAFFLES:  I'm super handsome enough–

ELLIE:  Mr. Waffles!!! Glogirly's going to turn the water on. You're going to get all WET!

WAFFLES:  I'm not scared of a little water. Are you?

ELLIE:  Uh... maybe?

About Today's Photos and "Shower Duty"

Every night at about 9pm, Ellie heads to the bathroom and waits. That's about the time Glogirly takes her shower and Ellie LOVES to help. She doesn't actually go IN the shower, but she sits right outside the door, watching and waiting. She helps Glogirly towel off, supervises her putting on her face cream, coming her hair, and putting on her cat pajamas. There's just something about being the bathroom with Glogirly that she absolutely loves.

Waffles is more of a daredevil when it comes to shower duty. He likes to go IN the shower. Usually he can tell when the water is about to turn on and he'll skeedaddle in a hurry. But lately, he's been super curious about the whole shower thing and has chosen to stay inside for the whole shower. He sits on the bench, away from the spray, and watches in fascination. Sometimes he even moves closer to the falling water. That is until his toes get wet. Then it's all over.

WAFFLES:  OPEN THE DOOR!!! OPEN THE DOOR!!!

Alarming Incident FLASHBACK

Dear friends,

Every once in awhile, we like to peruse our old blog posts. Would you believe we have nearly 2,500 in our archives?! They're full of wonderful memories and lots of laughs too. If you've been with us for the past few years, you know that Waffles has a reputation for mischief. Especially when it came to Katie. Our beloved Katie was a very straight-laced kitty. A rule follower. Often, when Waffles would do something crazy, she'd just sit back and stare with that "seriously?" look on her face. This post was one of those times. From way back in February of 2013 when Waffles was still a tiny kitten. We hope you enjoy it!

KATIE:  There's been an incident. Multiple incidents. THREE to be exact. And I'll give you ONE guess who's to blame.

KATIE:  It was an ordinary day. I was just innocently hanging out in the piano room, admiring my modern cat tree, when Waffles Too entered the room and commandeered the third level of my tree.

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss! Whaddya doing down there?

KATIE:  I might add, he did NOT seek permission to approach, let alone climb my cat tree. I guess some cats just need to look down on others to feel good about themselves.

The next thing I know, I'm being attacked from the sky. Waffles Too waited for me to come just a few feet closer and then WHAM. He dove from skyscraper heights and landed right on my back. Friends, you will have to take my word for this, as it was impossible to capture his maneuver on camera given the speed of the assault.

And then it happened.

Sirens blaring. Some loud stranger yelling ALARM, ALARM, AREA 9 - GLASS BREAK KITCHEN - ALARM, ALARM. And Glogirly frantically searching for her phone.

GLOGIRLY:  Yes, I'd like to report a false alarm.

GLOGIRLY:  Yes, everything is fine, except for my two crazy CATS.

GLOGIRLY:  No, it was just the cats.

GLOGIRLY:  Yes, cats.

GLOGIRLY:  Just two.

GLOGIRLY:  Well we have this new kitten and I guess his claws on the hardwood floor...as he was attacking my other INNOCENT cat ...must have set off the glass break alarm.

GLOGIRLY:  No, really. We're all okay.

GLOGIRLY:  Thank you. Bye.

KATIE:  Do not be fooled. I may look like the aggressor, but I assure you I am NOT.

Fast forward 24 hours. Waffles does it again.

Fast forward 48 hours. AGAIN.

So now the security guy with the toolbelt has to come to the townhouse and adjust our alarm so Waffles doesn't keep setting it off. That's just great. I'm going to post this mug shot at the front door so he knows what he's dealing with.

(When Waffles first came to live with us, we called him Waffles Too. Shortly after, we dropped the Too and ever since then he's been Waffles. Still silly, still goofy, and still a big love. ...ok, he's put on a few pounds since these photos.)

Tired of Sleeping??? Say it isn't So!

ELLIE:  Glogirly says it's hard to write our stories when we get along and stuff. She says that it's harder to make our friends laugh when we're, you know...cuddling and stuff.

WAFFLES:  I'm sleeping, Ellie. That's my story.

ELLIE:  But Mr. Waffles, don't you want to make a FUN story?

WAFFLES:  Sleeping IS fun, Ellie. Yawning, sleeping, sleeping, yawning. You should try it.

ELLIE:  But don't you ever get tired of sleeping, Mr. Waffles?

WAFFLES:  Tired of sleeping? That doesn't make any sense, Ellie.

About Today's Photos

Just when Glogirly was trying to decide what kind of story to share for our blog post today, especially what might be funny, she walked into the bedroom to open the window and found this love fest going on in the coveted "window chair."

Usually whoever gets to the chair first has a claim on it for the whole day. Sometimes it's Waffles, and sometimes Ellie. But today they proved no chair is too small for two cats.

Kittens, They Grow SO Fast

ELLIE:  Remember when I first came home, Mr. Waffles?

WAFFLES:  Remember? How could I forget?! You were like the little kitten invader!

ELLIE:  At first I was kind of scared. You were SOOOO big, Mr. Waffles.

WAFFLES:  I wasn't big, Ellie. You were TINY.

ELLIE:  Were you ever tiny, Mr. Waffles? Or were you always, um... large-ish

WAFFLES:  What do you mean, large-ish

ELLIE:  You know. Big like.

WAFFLES:  Big like what?

ELLIE:  Big like... um, a really big–

WAFFLES:  FYI, Ellie. I pretty much invented the whole cute kitten thing around here.

About Today's Photos

We're getting close to the one year mark when Ellie came home and turned Waffles' world upside down. It's fun to look back on those photos of Ellie and Waffles meeting face to face for the first time. She's still a bit smaller than Waffles and we can't be sure just how much growing she has to do.

But one thing is for sure - She's grown into her place in our family and our hearts. Even Waffles' heart.

Ellie's World is Spinning

ELLIE:  Mr. Waffles! Mr. Waffles! Everything's sideways!!!

WAFFLES:  That's because you're sideways. Wait...you're upside down AND sideways.

ELLIE:  That can't be right, Mr. Waffles. You're not upside down at all. You look...uh, normal-ish.

WAFFLES:  Normal-ish? Whaddya mean, normal-ISH???

ELLIE:  LOL!!! You said ISH!!!

WAFFLES:  You said it first!

About Today's Photos

Ellie was sure working it on the red chair for Gloman and his camera! Every time he walks literally anywhere in the house, Ellie loves to run ahead of him and then tip over for a full body tummy scratch. She loves is SO much that she even rolls over when she's on the chair. And yes, she's actually fallen off the chair while twirling and twisting for her tummy love.

Waffles loves a good tummy rub too...on his terms. And only in the middle of his tummy and up to his chinny-chin-chin. When Ellie tips over, she wants it ALL. She loves being rubbed everywhere. Even what most cats would consider to be those untouchable zones. Ellie is definitely a lover!
