Cuppa Waffles

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss! It's Monday morning. Have you had your cuppa Joe... I mean cuppa Waffles yet?

KATIE:  Thanks, but I'm trying to cut back.

WAFFLES:  You could just switch to decaf, Boss.

KATIE:  Yeah, well when it comes to you, I'd rather just go cold turkey.

WAFFLES:  Mmmm... turkey. Chicken's BFF.

I Knight Thee #SundaySelfies

WAFFLES:  I knight thee Sir... uh... Sir Boss of... What are you Boss of again?

KATIE:  Waffles, you did not just ask me that.

About Today's Photos
The dinnertime fun just keeps coming and coming. These photos were shot earlier this evening while Katie and Waffles were *patiently* waiting for the nightly meal service to commence. Waffles is obsessed with tapping Katie on the top of her head. And Katie has turned 'giving the stink eye' into an art form.

Oh, there's wrestling too. The occasional body slam. Despite the fact that Waffles is the aggressor approximately 99.9% of the time, Katie still manages to come out on top (literally) every time.

Glogirly's Angels & Adoptions #TVTripCaturday

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss, I think our dinner might be overdone tonight, what with all the fireballs and explosions and stuff.

KATIE:  Waffles, are you not capable of thinking about anything other than food?

WAFLES:  Um, what kind of food?

KATIE:  *sigh*

WAFFLES:  Hello, Glogirly? Is that you? Did you know that our dinner exploded?

We're going to need more dinner. And wigs. Jack-O-Lynn Smith here needs a wig.

CHARLOTTE (right):  Charlotte. My name is Charlotte. And thanks, but no thanks on the wig. I'm good.

Today's Cameo Cat

Charlotte was a stray, living on the street with her five kittens. Now that her nursing duties are finished, she has permanently retired from the Momcat business.

Beautiful Charlotte is only two years old. She's a little shy, having gone through a lot of changes in fortune the last few months. She loves to be brushed and pet. Her new dream home would be quiet and calm, and a few cat friends would be welcome.

Charlotte is fully vetted and available for adoption at PAWS of Norwalk, CT.

ADOPTED!!!
Each Saturday we feature adoptable adult cats from PAWS Pet Animal Welfare Society in our #TVTripCaturday blog series. Today we are SO pleased to announce that 3 beautiful ladycats we've shared with you have been ADOPTED!!!
BIG congratulations to Chili Pepper, Olga and Martina! We're so thrilled you've now got what every cat deserves - a true forever.

Now we don't want to take credit for this good fortune. The real heroes here are the dedicated volunteers and staff at PAWS. The world is a better place for cats thanks to the dedication and compassion of animal shelter volunteers and workers everywhere. Thank you for giving these beautiful cats a chance at forever love.

Special thanks to Maggie Swanson, the talented photographer behind our cameo cats and a devoted volunteer at PAWS. Maggie is the author of the blog, Sundays at the Shelter, where she features adoptable cats from PAWS each and every week. Her beautiful photos have helped countless cats find loving homes.

Katie & Waffles On Death & Dying - Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

The cat blogging community is both a small and close knit group of friends and cat lovers, as well as a kinship that stretches across the planet. We never imagined having friends in every corner of the world, but that's what this wonderful experience we call blogging has given us. We share in each other's joy like the adoption of a homeless cat in need or a new kitten in the family. We also share each other's pain and loss.

Today is dedicated to remembering those special furry members of our family we've lost. They live in our hearts forever and as much as is hurts to say goodbye, our lives are considerably richer for having known them and loved them.

Katie & Waffles On Death and Dying
The following is dedicated to a fellow blogging cat who left her paw print on our hearts. It's a very special conversation between Katie and Waffles. One we hope will leave an imprint on your heart and comfort you as you remember those you've lost.

WAFFLES:  Uh, Boss? How come everyone is all sad and stuff?

KATIE:  Waffles, we lost a very dear friend yesterday.

WAFFLES:  Well shouldn't we go look for her? Make some signs and stuff?

KATIE:  No, Waffles. Signs aren't going to bring her back. And she's not really lost. She's in our hearts now.

WAFFLES:  What do you mean?

KATIE:  Well, you know how Glogirly says that her mom and dad live in her heart? And Nicki, the cat that came before us, he lives in her heart too.

WAFFLES:  She even has a special box for his memories and stuff.

KATIE:  Well the really special memories don't fit in a box. They're so big, the only place they can fit is in our hearts.

WAFFLES:  But what if my heart isn't big enough?

KATIE:  Don't worry Waffles. When your heart is filled with love, memories and friends, there's always enough room.

Remembering Nicki:
The Cat that came Before Katie & Waffles

Many of you have asked if there was a cat that came before Katie & Waffles. Nicki was a beautiful black panther. He traveled everywhere with Glogirly and LOVED riding in the car.

She worked in a downtown Minneapolis photo studio and Nicki would come with her everyday. He was so friendly to everyone that came in the studio, even the dog in the office next door. Glogirly and Nicki took a cab to work everyday and it wasn't long before the cabbies started calling her the Cat Lady.

Since she started blogging, Glogirly has learned so much about cats and how to ensure they live happy, healthy lives. She wishes she could have done better for Nicki, who died at a very young age from kidney disease. She often thinks that if she knew then what she knows now she could have helped him more.  RIP sweet boy.

The Truth About Late Night Cat Blogging

KATIE:  Late night blogging is hard work. Every night Glogirly pours through photos from the day hoping she can read our minds. She asks us what we want to say. Sometimes we help and sometimes... well, she's on her own. Frankly, I'm a little busy right now.

Blogging requires dedication, concentration, and some nice soft pillows.

WAFFLES:  And snacks, right? Plenty of snacks.

WAFFLES:  Pretty please?

About Today's Photos
It's true. Glogirly is often queen of the late night scramble. (is it any surprise she loves eating breakfast for dinner?) Most of our blog posts are a result of her going through photos and imagining what Katie & Waffles might be talking about.

She couldn't make up her mind tonight and decided to take new photos only minutes before our nightly publish deadline. We try to publish early if we can, but our drop-dead-deadline is midnight. So taking new photos at 11:30 pm is a little risky. Living on the edge.

But when she saw Katie chilling on a pillow, basking in the apple light from her laptop, she couldn't resist. It truly is a picture of what late night blogging looks like at the Townhouse.

Meanwhile over at the blue chair, Waffles heard the camera click, which of course can mean only one thing -  T-R-E-A-T-S

Waffles Talks Flossing & Wand Toys #WafflesWednesday

WAFFLES:  Did you know that flossing is very important?

WAFFLES:  I floss every day with my wand toy.

WAFFLES:  Daily flossing and stuff keeps my wand toy healthy and happy.

WAFFLES:  That is until someone loses a tail feather.

About Today's Photos
Waffles has been loving his Neko Birbug for a LONG time. Before Glogirly even launched it into the air, Waffles knew it was something special. He was chattering away, trying to help put it together.

Ever since that first flight, the Birbug has been his wand toy of choice. He knows where it's kept when not in play. And he knows how to get everyone's attention when it's time to play. The only thing he doesn't know is when to stop.

As wand toys go, it's a little pricey. But for us it's been well worth it. It's outlasted nearly all our other toys and it's the one that Waffles just never falls out of love with. The cork handle is soft and comfortable to grip. Admittedly, we did have to replace the bug once. RIP Bug #1. But considering how intense our play sessions are, we're just super impressed with how well it's made.

This isn't an official product review. But when something like this shows up in so many of our photos, we can't help but take notice at what an important part of our life it is. Cat-Tested and Waffles-Approved.

Counting the Days

WAFFLES:  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Chickenday...

KATIE:  Waffles, what are you doing?

WAFFLES:  I'm counting the days, Boss.

KATIE:  Counting the days until what? Another Day of the Chicken? Fried Chicken Friday? Colonel Sanders Saturday?

WAFFLES:  NO, Boss. I'm counting how many days until WAFFLES Day. National Waffles Day is a national holiday you know. That's why it's called NATIONAL.

KATIE:  Thanks for clarifying, Waffles. I hate to tell you (not really) but yesterday was National Waffles Day.

WAFFLES:  NOOOOO! I have to wait a whole YEAR for Waffles Day??? What a ripoff! So what's today, is it anything good?

KATIE:  Oh, nothing. It's just Tuesday.

WAFFLES:  It has to be something, Boss. It can't be just Tuesday.

KATIE:  Just Tuesday.

WAFFLES:  I don't believe you.

KATIE:  Would I lie to you, Waffles?

WAFFLES:  Maybe? You told Glogirly I stole the chicken treats out of the cupboard. And you told her I took the corn cob thing out of the garbage and flung it down the steps.

KATIE:  You DID steal the treats. And you DID fling the corn cob down the steps.

WAFFLES:  C'mon, Boss. I know today's something. Tell me! Tell me! Tell me!

KATIE:  Fine. But don't get any ideas.

WAFFLES:  Ok. No ideas. Ever. Never. Ideas. None.

KATIE:  According to DaysOfTheYear.com, the utmost authority on weird holidays, today is National Kiss and Make Up Day.

WAFFLES:  Did you say KISS???

Waffles' Super Powers and the Sleepypod Tryst

WAFFLES:  *whispers* Be very, very quiet.

WAFFLES:  *whispers* I'm practicing my secret invisible super powers.

WAFFLES:  *whispers* The Boss has NO idea that I'm–

KATIE:  Waffles, you do know the white Sleepypod is mine, right?

WAFFLES: *whispers* Boss, I'm not really here on account of I'm invisible.

KATIE:  Seriously Waffles, I can totally see you.

WAFFLES:  You just THINK you see me, Boss.

KATIE:  No, I see you.

WAFFLES:  SEE! It works! It works! My super invisible secret powers work. I can make you THINK you see me.

KATIE:  That's a great trick, Waffles. How about you use those super power to make me NOT see you?

About Today's Photos
Katie and Waffles may have checked ' √⃞ It's Complicated' for their Facebook relationship status, but we have photographic proof that may not be 100% accurate.

Every morning after breakfast service and drinks at the fountain, Katie and Waffles meet up at the white Sleepypod on the big blue ottoman.

Whoever gets there first has dibs. Whoever gets there late, assumes the position just outside the pod.

Although skirmishes break out regularly at the daily meal service, it's all peace, harmony, sunshine and rainbows at the pod.

Sorry, Waffles. We think the Sleepypod is the one with secret supers powers.

Love Your Vet #Cat2VetDay

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss! YESTERDAY was Take Your Cat to the Vet Day. We missed it!

KATIE:  Oh darn.

WAFFLES:  Should we go today instead?

KATIE:  Waffles, we were just there. Let's not wear out our welcome.

WAFFLES:  But it was Take Your Cat to the Vet Day, Boss. And we missed it. We have to go.

KATIE:  Waffles, what matters is that we remind everyone how important it is to see their vet regularly.

WAFFLES:  Why? Is it so the vets don't get lonely and stuff and miss us?

KATIE:  Waffles, you do know that Dr. Karlin's world doesn't revolve around you, right?

WAFFLES:  Yeah, but every time I see her she makes me feel like it does.

Don't let your vet miss you.
Schedule a wellness check today.
It's true. We love our vet. In fact at one point, Waffles wanted to marry Dr. Karlin. His hopes were dashed though when he realized that not only was she taken, she was seeing untold numbers of other cats. Dogs too. But that hasn't stopped him from flirting. Or amassing more girlfriends than he can count.

In all seriousness though, we're very passionate about the importance of regular veterinary visits. Living healthy, happy and long lives with our forever families is what it's all about.

Our own vet and the dedicated staff at Westgate Pet Clinic in Minneapolis are like family to us. They take the time to get to know us. They're incredibly gentle and caring each time we visit. They spend time talking to Glogirly, answering her questions and never, ever seem to be rushed. Even when the waiting area is chocked full. When there's a health concern or problem addressed, we always get a call back after a visit to check in on how things are going. And if we ever have a question, any question at all, they're happy to take our call. Our own vet has called us on many occasions. Like we said, we love her.

Click here to learn about the five reasons regular veterinary visits are so important to the health and well being of our furry family members.

Do you love your vet?
If you're not happy with your vet, it's time to shop around. We have a feeling there are lots of Dr. Karlin's out there. You just have to be willing to look for them.

WAFFLES:  My vet loves me SO much, I got to star in a Westgate Pet Clinic VIDEO!!!

KATIE:  Waffles, you were only in the video for like 4 seconds.

WAFFLES:  Uh uuuh! It was at least FIVE.

(You can see Waffles at the 33 second mark)

Mr. Ed Didn't See THIS Coming #TVTripCaturday

♫♩
A cat is a cat, and that's a fact.

And no one can talk to a cat in fact.

That is, in fact unless the cat is the famous Mister Waff.
♫♩

SCRATCHY (left):  I'M not going to talk to him, are YOU going to talk to him?

KATIE:  Are you kidding? I'M not going to talk to him.

SCRATCHY (left):  Well is he just going to keep singing that song over and over?

KATIE:  Yeah, pretty much.

Today's Cameo Cat
Today's Cameo Cat is Scratchy. He's a 10 year old and VERY handsome boy. His shelter friends think he needs a new name. We think he kind of looks like a Fritzie or maybe a Scrappy.

He's incredibly friendly and loves kisses on his head. Scratch is fully vetted and just wants the simple things in life–  a forever home to call his own and someone to love.

Scratchy is available for adoption at PAWS.

This Just In! Scratchy is a GIRL!!! ...oops!

TV Trip Saturdays with the Shelter Cats!
Every Saturday we feature adoptable cats from PAWS Pet Animal Welfare Society in Norwalk, CT. in our #TVTripCaturday blog series. Through the magic of Photoshop, they join Waffles and Katie for some time-travel adventures to some of our favorite, classic shows.

We'll also introduce you to the 'Cameo Cats' and share a little bit about them. Maybe, just maybe... our crazy antics will help our shelter friends find forever homes.

Waffles Learns How To Pick Up Chicks

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss, you come here often?

KATIE:  Seriously? You're going to use that line on me?

WAFFLES:  Ok. How about this? Hey, can I get your digits so we can FaceTime?

KATIE:  Waffles, you're already in my face 24/7. The last thing I'm going to do is FaceTime you. And mitts off my digits.

WAFFLES:  Man, picking up chicks is hard.

KATIE:  Waffles, you've got a lot to learn about girl cats.

WAFFLES: So what am I supposed to say?

KATIE: Well, you should say nice things. Compliment her. Tell her you like her fur...

WAFFLES:  Ok. I like your fur.

KATIE:  Waffles, you need to romance it. "I love your furs... how do you keep them so silky-soft?"

WAFFLES:  Thanks, Boss. I lick them everyday.

KATIE:  No Waffles, you're supposed to ask ME how I keep MY fur so soft.

WAFFLES:  But I already know. You lick yours like elebenty billion times a day. That's why you cough up all those nasty hairballs and have to eat that gooey hairball stuff.

KATIE: WAFFLES! If you want to impress the ladies, do NOT bring up hairballs. Ok, let's try this again. Just say, "Hello, my name is Waffles. What's your name?"

WAFFLES:  Ok. HELLO, MY NAME IS WAFFLES! What's–

KATIE:  Take it down a notch, Waffles. A little lower.

WAFFLES:  *low voice* Hello, my name is Waffles.''

About Today's Photos
Today's photos were taken just last week. Glogirly has taken pictures of Waffles at the kitchen counter before. She's taken pictures of Katie at the kitchen counter too. But she'd NEVER gotten photos of them BOTH at the kitchen counter until now.

It was about 4:45pm. Katie and Waffles were getting ready to get ready for dinner. Glogirly was emptying the dishwasher when she looked up and saw what you see in that first photo. She's learned to always keep her camera close so she grabbed it and started shooting. There was plenty of grumbling about the light too. Something about bright daylight from the windows behind and harsh light above from the kitchen pendants.

Katie and Waffles didn't care. They didn't even care that they were sitting just inches apart. They had bigger and better things on their mind. It was after all, now 4:59pm.
