First Snow!

  

ELLIE:  Mr, Waffles! The cold white stuff is here again! First time this season. And it's almost as tall as ME!!!

WAFFLES:  You're pretty short, Ellie. I've seen bigger. WAY bigger. This isn't even enough to get the man in brown shorts stuck in our driveway overnight. 

ELLIE:  There's a man in brown shorts??? Isn't he cold? 

WAFFLES:  This is Colorado, Ellie. The Rocky Mountains. The men in brown shorts don't let a few snowflakes cramp their style.

Snow Scenes

We had our first snow of the season this weekend! The so-called weather experts were talking all big like 10"+. Glogirly even started getting her ski stuff organized. But here at the mountain house we didn't even hit 5". And with sunny skies and warm weather this week, our white stuff will probably be gone in no time. But it's still really beautiful and we're thrilled to have even a little. Word is the ski areas saw much more than we did here so that's making Glogirly smile. 

When it snows, our furry neighbors will often come to visit. 

When it snows, the sunrises are spectacular.

When it snows, these you-know-who's are doing you-know-what.

Case of the Great Waffle Wagon Hijack

 

WAFFLES:  Do you ever get that feeling someone's watching you?

ELLIE:  I can't even see you, Mr. Waffles. How can I be watching you?

 

WAFFLES:  I can see YOU, Ellie. And I know you're watching me. I wouldn't be surprised if you try and hijack my Waffle Wagon.

ELLIE:  Hijack?

ELLIE:  What's a hijack? I like sitting up here really high and stuff. But my name's not Jack. It's Ellie.

WAFFLES:  Hijack is you trying to steal my Waffle Wagon. I've got your number, Ellie. 

ELLIE:  What's my number, Mr. Waffles? I kind of like four. Or maybe two. Yeah, two. Like you and me–

WAFFLES:  Not that kind of number, Ellie.

Despite the license plate, Ellie has no trouble claiming the Waffle Wagon as her own. 

Well, she may ask nicely first. But once the pleasantries are out of the way, she moves in.

Her favorite hangout is on to of the bonnet. Probably because Waffles is far too large for that maneuver. 

There's no way he could ever balance on the handlebar! But delicate Ellie has no problem at all. She's even put a small toy inside the cupholder for safe keeping.

WAFFLES:  Better hang on, Mr. Mouse! This bucking mancat's got your number!

ELLIE:  I don't think you bucked him very hard, Mr. Waffles. He's still there.

WAFFLES:  What the heck, is this guy velcroed onto me or something?

ELLIE:  Maybe he's glued onto you?

WAFFLES:  That would totally be cheating. Ellie! Come over here and help me out.

ELLIE:  You're right Mr. Waffles. Mr. Mouse has velcro pants. 

WAFFLES:  Velcro pants???! 

ELLIE:  Velcro pants, Mr. Waffles. Should we report him to the rodeo officials?

WAFFLES:  I think velcro pants are punishment enough.

Halloween is coming up and  Glogirly has officially broken out Waffles' Meowleen wardrobe! She's a sucker for a mancat cowboy with a mouse saddled up on his back. (!)

Not to worry... no mancats or mice were harmed in the making of these photos. Waffles (and Ellie by default) got plenty of treats after their quick photo session. 

ELLIE:  Sorry about the velcro pants, Mr. Mouse.

Waffles' Reunion With a Very Special Houseguest

ELLIE:  Hey, Mister Waffles! Are you ready for another houseguest?

WAFFLES:  ANOTHER houseguest??! Who's coming this time?

ELLIE:  Pssst! It's Glogirly's cat lady friend from Kansas! Word is you and her go WAY back! Something about a weekend in Nashville??

WAFFLES:  That was just a conference me and Glogirly went to. Her friend roomed with us. 

ELLIE:  I heard you slept with her!

WAFFLES:  I don't kiss and tell, Ellie. 

About Today's Photos

Waffles and Ellie were busy helping Glogirly prepare the guest room for her dear friend, Lisa. They met YEARS ago through their blogs and attended more pet writing conferences than she can count. Many times Waffles and sometimes even Katie made the trip with Glogirly. 

It's true, Waffles shared Lisa's bed with her on more than one occasion! LOL!

This is one of our all time favorite photos of Lisa and Waffles during a 2014 trip to Atlanta for a special party that Waffles threw for all the cat ladies in his hotel room. (If you'd like to read about it, just click HERE.)

Fast forward NINE years to just this past week. Lisa and Waffles shared a special reunion nose touch here in the rocky mountains. Lisa AND Waffles haven't aged a bit!

The cat ladies found time for some hiking at a nearby park. Nothing like beautiful nature and good friends to recharge your soul! 

Lisa headed home over the weekend and Waffles has been searching high and low for her ever since.

WAFFLES:  Lisa? Lisa???! 

WAFFLES:  Was it something I said?!

WAFFLES:  Hello, ladies. Welcome to my handsomeness.

ELLIE:  So, Mr. Handsomeness, you know you're not supposed to be on the counter, right?

WAFFLES:  That's the KITCHEN counter, Ellie. This is the bathroom, duh.

ELLIE:  A counter is a counter is a counter, Mr. Waffles. That's what Glogirly says.

WAFFLES:  That's like three counters, Ellie. You're kind of repeating yourself.

ELLIE:  You mean like when Glogirly tells you to get off the counter, again and again? And again?

About Today's Photos

Every once in a while, Waffles tries to help Glogirly put on her makeup in the morning. And then Glogirly helps him off the counter. But today was a no-makeup day for Glogirly. She was just tidying up the house and happened into the bathroom. 

Fortunately, her camera was close by because that first photo at the beginning of today's blog post was exactly what she saw– Waffles looking like he was posing for a centerfold. When she started shooting, the mancat/supermodel started working the camera. He was twirling around the bathroom sink and faucet, totally showing off. A few trills and chortles were heard, then he finished the photo session with a kiss on the mirror.
