Gargoyle Cat

ELLIE:  So Mr. Waffles?

WAFFLES:  Ellie?

ELLIE:  What's a gargoyle?

WAFFLES:  A what???

ELLIE:  Whenever I sit here on the red chair, Glogirly says I'm gargoyling.

WAFFLES:  I think a gargoyle is a statue that sits up high on a building and guards it and stuff.

ELLIE:  So I'm sitting here like a statue guarding the red chair then?

WAFFLES:  Well I'm sitting right here... so how's the whole guarding the red chair thing working out for you?

ELLIE:  Fine. How's the whole red chair thing working out for you, Mr. Waffles?

WAFFLES:  Hey, wait a minute! How did I end up down here and you're still up there???

ELLIE:  Guess my gargoyling really IS working out, Mr. Waffles!

About Today's Photos

Our red chair is turning into the so-called office water cooler for Ellie and Waffles. Lots of conversations and negotiations take place there. One of Ellie's favorite new things is balancing on the arm of the chair. It's only a couple of inches wide, so the more she grows, the funnier she looks perched there with her legs hanging to each side.

Sometimes she forgets her precarious positioning and tries to give herself a bath. She may or may not have tumbled into Waffles side of the chair in the process. We're not telling!

Snowmageddon Aftermath with Ellie & Waffles

ELLIE:  Mr. Waffles, should we go check out all that snow and stuff? Mr. Waffles?

ELLIE:  Mr. Waffles?

WAFFLES:  Sleeping, Ellie. Sleeping.

ELLIE:  You're sleeping? Are you sure?

WAFFLES:  Barely.

ELLIE:  Barely sure or barely sleeping?

ELLIE:  The snow, Mr. Waffles. Shouldn't we–

WAFFLES:  Go back to sleep? The snow will still be there when we wake up.

ELLIE:  Promise?

WAFFLES:  Zzzzzzz....

Snowmageddon - The Aftermath

When we published last week's blog post, the snow was still coming down. We knew it was going to be a big one, but we had no idea we'd be waking up to 3 FEET of the white stuff! We haven't had a really big snow like this all season, so for us it was pretty fun!

There's nothing quite as visually spectacular as fresh mountain snow. It's almost like living in a beautiful snow globe.

And the sunrises...they're incredible.

For Glogirly, this all means lots and lots of skiing.

This is the view from her favorite run, called Muleshoe, at the local ski area.

So what about that DRIVEWAY???

This volume of snow means we have to call in the professionals for our driveway.

So far so good...not a single Fed Ex, UPS, or tow truck has spent the night stuck on it. But this is Colorado and there's likely to be plenty more spring snow.

In fact as we're writing this, the snow is falling and we expect to wake up to another 6-7" of fresh powder.

Ellie's First Snowmageddon

ELLIE:  Mr. Waffles! What's all this white stuff???

WAFFLES:  It's snow, Ellie. A LOT of snow. A LOTTA LOTTA snow.

ELLIE:  What are we supposed to do with it? Make snow angels? Eat it?

WAFFLES:  I'll pass on the snow angels. And eating it is pretty overrated. Tastes like super cold water.

WAFFLES:  Glogirly went skiing today.

ELLIE:  Like outside? In the snow???

WAFFLES:  That's the general idea. She straps those big sticks onto her feet and swooshes down the mountain.

ELLIE:  You mean on purpose???

WAFFLES:  She's a little crazy.

Powder Day!

If you saw the national news this past weekend, you couldn't miss the big snowmageddon storm that hit Colorado. So far we have 3+ feet here at the mountain house. And at the local ski area, Glogirly and her ski buddy Bob had a chance to ski in thigh high powder. It was a bucket list kind of day for our girl.

As we're writing this, it's STILL snowing.

So tomorrow, if Bob can make it down and up our driveway road, they're going to do it all again!  (Yup, that's Bob coming down our "driveway" in his Jeep to pick up Glogirly and her skis. 4WD, chains, and it was still a challenge to get out!)

My Chair Your Chair

ELLIE:  Hey, Mr. Waffles! How do you like my chair by the big window? It's the PURR-fect spot to watch the birds, take naps, and practice looking cute.

WAFFLES:  You know, Ellie. There was a time when that was MY chair. Like, just yesterday for example.

ELLIE:  But yesterday is yesterday and today is today and Gloman says I look super cute in my chair. That's why he took my picture and stuff.

WAFFLES:  How's a handsome mancat supposed to compete with all this cute business? Just how much longer can she play the kitten card anyway???

ELLIE:  Pretty much forever.

About Today's Photos

The love affair between Ellie and Gloman gets stronger everyday. She's by his side in the office for all of his Zoom calls, follows him to the kitchen for their lunch break, and has totally mastered the art of rolling over and giving him her best goggly-eye love look every chance she gets. She is totally a CatDaddy girl.

Waffles lets her pour on the cute without protest. But he's king cat here at the mountain house and Ellie knows it! He gets first dibs on lap space and treats.

Anniversary Toes

ELLIE:  One, two, three, four–

WAFFLES:  What are you counting, Ellie?

ELLIE:  How long it's been since I came home to you and Glogirly and Gloman. Do you know how many toes it's been, Mr. Waffles?

WAFFLES:  It's almost SIX months!

ELLIE:  That's a lot of toes, Mr. Waffles!

WAFFLES:  You're going to have to count on two feet now, Ellie.

Just Six Months Ago

It's hard to believe little Ellie has already been here for almost six months. It seems like she's been part of our family forever. She has brought so much love to us. Especially to Waffles– her mentor, confidante, and BFF.

In honor of this fun milestone, we thought you might enjoy a glimpse back at their very first conversation. Was Ellie ever that SMALL???!!!

Six months ago...

WAFFLES:  Wait a minute...who are YOU???

ELLIE:  I think my name is Ellie. What's your name?

WAFFLES:  I'm confused. Ellie???

ELLIE:  Hi confused. It's nice to meet you!

WAFFLES:  I mean, I'm, I'm Waffles.

ELLIE:  You mean like pancakes? You don't smell like pancakes.

WAFFLES:  You really don't smell like pancakes.

One week later...

Best Furriends Forever.
