WAFFLES:  It's almost dinner o'clock and still no Glogirly

WAFFLES:  Ellie, you need to get over here and help me watch for her. She's GOT to be coming home soon. This whole playing snow hooky thing is getting out of hand.

ELLIE:  Snow hooky? You mean like with a hockey stick and that puck thing?

WAFFLES:  That's hockey, Ellie. She's skiing again.

ELLIE:  I thought you said she was playing snow hooky, not skiing.

WAFFLES:  With Glogirly, they're the same thing.

Snow Hooky

Ski season is winding down in Colorado, but this past week's forecast was just too beautiful for Glogirly to pass up. 

So she packed a bag, loaded up her skis in the Jeep, and headed to Georgetown, CO.

It's the closest town to one of her favorite ski areas, Loveland. This was the view out her hotel window.

She was joined by some of her very best ski friends. Each day was more beautiful than the next with lots of sunshine and fresh powder.

Of course she missed Ellie, Waffles, and Gloman terribly...but apparently not terribly enough to come home early. LOL!

ELLIE:  Mr, Waffles!!! Look at all this cold white stuff...and it's already spring! I think it's taller than ME too.

WAFFLES:  You're pretty short, Ellie. I've seen bigger. Way bigger. This isn't even enough to get the man in brown shorts stuck in our driveway overnight. 

ELLIE:  There's a man in brown shorts??? Isn't he cold? 

WAFFLES:  This is Colorado, Ellie. The Rocky Mountains. The men in brown shorts don't let a few snowflakes cramp their style.

Snowy Mountain Scenes

It may be spring everywhere else, but here in the Rocky Mountains it's like winter again! Glogirly and Gloman couldn't be happier. Glogirly has a big week of skiing planned which means Gloman and the kitties will have lots of cuddle time. Plus, every snowfall helps with wildfire prevention, so that's definitely something to be grateful for.

We had about 6" fall on Saturday. Sunday was warm and sunny so it's already melting. Our road was so warm before the snow fell that we didn't even have to plow. 

There's as much as 9" more on the way. 

And you-know-who is ready.

Dinner Party Watch

 

ELLIE:  Mr. Waffles, do you think the dinner guests will see us down here? 

WAFFLES:  Only if they sit down on these chairs.

ELLIE:  But won't they see us through the glass table first?

WAFFLES:  I suppose you're right, what with Glogirly's glass top dining room table. 

ELLIE:  So what's the plan, Mr. Waffles.

WAFFLES:  You distract them by doing something, you know, kitten-y and cute. Then I'll grab the food and run.

ELLIE:  I think YOU should distract them and I should grab the food. 

WAFFLES:  Sorry, Ellie. You just don't have enough experience at this. You weren't around for the Beef Tenderloin Incident of 2014 or the 2015 Great Kentucky Fried Chicken heist.

ELLIE:  This isn't going to end well, is it?

About Today's Photos

Glogirly and Gloman had their dear friends over for dinner Saturday night. At least they said they were friends. But they all smelled suspiciously like our VET. (Can you believe they are actually friends with our Vet?!!! Oh, the horror!) 

Ellie and Waffles were supervising the setting of the table in anticipation of dinner. But their plans of absconding with the food were foiled once everyone arrived. Waffles eagerly greeted everyone while Ellie kept her distance until everyone left the house and the house was determined to be clear of interlopers.

Meanwhile on the Slopes

While many of our friends were turning their air conditioners on last week, we had another few inches of fresh snow. In fact it snowed 8" while Glogirly was out skiing at her local hill, Eldora Mountain Ski Resort. It was downright freezing! You can tell because her lips wouldn't cooperate when she tried to smile for her selfie.

But just a couple of days later it was sunny and beautiful for Eldora's closing day. Glogirly and her friends all dressed up in festive outfits to celebrate. She's going to miss her almost daily treks to the mountain, but there are still a few ski areas in Colorado that will remain open for at least another few weeks.

ELLIE:  So Mr. Waffles? Did the Easter Bunny bring us these Peeps?

WAFFLES:  Yeah, I thought they'd be marshmallow Peeps, but they're just stuffed with a lot of nothing. What a ripoff. 

ELLIE:  Not even catnip??? 

WAFFLES:  Not even catnip. Maybe the Easter Bunny messed up and brought us DOG toys. 

ELLIE:  Well they're still kind of fun, Mr. Waffles. 

WAFFLES:  If you like DOG toys. 

WAFFLES:  Should I not like dog toys?

WAFFLES:  Well...are you a dog???

ELLIE:  Would that be wrong?

Happy Easter!

We hope all of our friends and readers who celebrate Easter had a wonderful holiday weekend! Ellie is still trying to figure out why her stuffed Peeps don't smell like catnip and Waffles is sulking over the lack of marshmallow filling. He's got a CRAZY attraction to Glogirly's marshmallows. Since they're not exactly one of his approved food groups, she has to keep them under lock and key.

We heard these Peeps toys came in both dog and cat versions. Despite the cat packaging, we're thinking something got mixed up in the Peep packaging factory. Hopefully Ellie and Waffles will learn to trust the Easter Bunny again.

There was an Easter Bunny sighting at the local ski area this past weekend.

ELLIE:  When is Glogirly coming home from her skiing trip, Mr. Waffles?

WAFFLES:  Not soon enough, Ellie. Who am I supposed to sleep with?! 

ELLIE:  You could sleep with Gloman. Oh, I know! You could sleep with ME.

WAFFLES:  I'm going to have to think about that first.

Where oh where is Glogirly?

Glogirly was on top of the world last week. Well not totally, she was only at about 11,400'. But she sure felt like she was on top of the world. She and her cat lady ski friend, Barbara were at Vail. It was a bucket list vacation and ski experience for her and she came home with LOTS of beautiful photos. She hasn't even downloaded all of them yet, so this is just a teensy sampling. 

Gloman, Waffles, and Ellie held down the fort at home while she was swooshing it up on the mountain.

Every day was a bluebird day.

Vail is known for it's legendary bowls. Their favorite was China Bowl and Pete's Bowl.
