Hi everybuddy, Waffles here.
Did you know I've been training to become an opera singer? Every night after dinner I sit in the hallway and sing to the ceiling. I'm getting pretty good too.
Last night's performance earned me a standing ovation when Glogirly AND Gloman came over to see who I was signing to. I kind of expected them to shower me with toys and stuff. Instead they just stood there looking at each other, then the ceiling, then each other. Maybe I'll have to sing a little louder tonight.
I bet you're wondering how long I've been singing.
Well, I started really young. It's important to learn how to use your voice and make the most of your meows.
It wasn't long before I worked my way up to a full scale yowl. I know, you might say it looks like I'm just yawning. But this kind of vocal performance requires intense concentration.
REALLY intense concentration. Blow-your-ear-back intense.

ReplyDeleteSinging the song of our people, no doubt. I've been practicing this evening, myself! - Princeton
ReplyDeleteVoted!
Binga sings opera too! Her favorite song is called "Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me Feed Me."
ReplyDeleteAre you part wolf like my May is? She runs around, stops, throws her head in her neck and yowls, then runs again. It's the funniest thing ever.
ReplyDeleteI practice all da time too!
ReplyDeleteI can see your own record deal in your future!!
ReplyDeleteWhat does Katie think of your vocal talents?!?
ReplyDeleteThat hallway must have perfect acoustics for your voice, Waffles. If you don't have a cathedral to make your voice soar, at least you have a hallway.
ReplyDeleteI like singing too, Waffles. Maybe we should get together and do a duet!
ReplyDelete~Wally
Our cat of long ago, Maude, used to put on her concerts in the bathroom where the acoustics were really good.
ReplyDeleteWaffles has very nice teeth too.
xxoo

gotta keep them guessing. :) we have some singers here too: this morning Ash was singing the "I got lost by the front door" song and last night Jade was singing the "I need a boyfriend" song (mom doesn't like that one so much)
ReplyDeleteWaffles! Our niece is an OPERA singer - yes, for real! - but we felt she needed your tips so MomKatt sent this on to her. I bet her career really picks up once she puts your techniques into play in her own artistry!
ReplyDeletePurrz!

Truffles is very vocal too...she could sing backup!
ReplyDeleteIs it an orange cat thing? Because Ping does too. ☺
ReplyDeleteGemini sings in the entry way with the high ceiling. She feels it gives her voice more umph. I sing to my toys, wherever I find them. Ichiro chirps at all the walls in greeting, with a special conversation in the bathroom on a daily basis...
ReplyDeleteI sing to Meowm quite a bit. I don't think she appreciates it as much as she should though.
ReplyDeleteWe think Glogirly needs to get a recording of you to share with us!
Waffles has such nice, clean teeth! Mommy must take good care of them!
ReplyDeleteLove these photos! <3
Waffles, you can sing me opera every day! You are so darn cute!
ReplyDeleteYou're very talented, Waffles, we can see that you have a long practice behind you. We're sure Glogirly and Gloman would love another extra-concerto in the middle of the night, or early morning before the sunrise ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteI am an opera singer too Waffles. I walk around the garden practising so my voice will be in top form for my 3am performances. Mum says I am yowling. She must be tone deaf. I must say I have never managed to blow my ear back though.
ReplyDeleteYo Waff, do you know Figaro? Maybe we can duet. I sing it late at night.
ReplyDeleteGood job, Waffles. Moosey and Zoe are good singers, too! Hey, maybe the three of you can start a kitty trio!
ReplyDeleteOh Waffles..you were such a cute tiny guy..how I wish I could be there for your next performance!!
ReplyDeleteWe is sure Gloman and Glogirly appreciate your efforts. Somehow though we thinks Katie is less impressed. (those tuxies are hard to charm).
ReplyDeleteKeep practicing Waffles, maybe someday we'll see you at Catnegie Hall! That would be pawsome!

Hi Waffles, this is Manhattan. I like to walk around the warehouse apartment and sing. I find my arias are best early in the morning and late at night. Usually, I'm walking and singing, that way every piece of furniture feels as if I'm performing just for them.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a favorite? Mine usually has a lot of w in it...mwooooow....occasionally I throw in an r...mwrooooow....Z-Girl usually calls my name when I do this, I think it's because she wants an encore!
I also have been known to commune with the ghost who lives in our apartment. I'm the only one who can see her. She comes in with the sunshine, so I howl to the rays of sun as they beam in through the windows. It's a great talent for a kitty to have. Keep practicing....maybe you can learn to sing and play the piano???
Looks like you are really concentrating Waffles. Cashew is good at then early morning when he wants his food. The longer I take the louder he gets. LOL.

I like to talk to Dad a lot but not so much to sing. I say "MEOOOWWWW" for Treats Now or "MEOOOWWWW" for Dinner Now. Most of my conversations end with NOW!
ReplyDeleteOur little Einstein has a great voice so maybe you two can do a Cat Duet! He sings out the window and then walks about repeating his purrformance.
Timmy
Waffles, that last photo was pretty scary. Maybe we could send Mauricio for a visit (to move in forever), and the two of you could sing duets. He is a champion meyowler. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteI sing every night in the hallway too! Mom loves it :)
