Hi everybuddy, Waffles here.
Yesterday was my very first visit as a Therapy Cat In-Training! That's me right before Glogirly and I left to meet the nice people at Catholic Eldercare, a nursing home just a mile from our house. I was making sure the Waffle Wagon was ready to roll.
We met up with my friend Dee, Spaghetti Bob the therapy cat's human. She's been helping me with my training and showing me and Glogirly the ropes.
We didn't take any pictures because it was a really important training session and Glogirly needed to be right by my side. Everyone said I did really well for my first visit. I was a little scared, but I was curious too. It's fun to ride in my Waffle Wagon, poking my head up and looking around. Don't tell the Boss, but everyone said I was super cute. And someone even thought I was a GIRL.
The first part of my training is to just practice visiting and getting comfortable with short visits.
Catholic Eldercare has a number of therapy pets that make regular visits so they were very understanding about me not having a lot of experience. I let some people talk to me and pet me. I even saw a POODLE. I didn't let him pet me though.
They said I could come back for another visit so Glogirly is checking my social calendar.
I am so proud of you Waffles! Therapy animals are very very impawent. They make people smile and make days brighter for some. I look forward to your journey to becoming a therapy cat because I know you will be pawsome! Maybe you will see that poodle again and you will become friends then one day we will get to meet in pawson and you will like me too cause I am a big poodle.
ReplyDeleteOh sweet boy we are so, so proud of you!!! We can't wait to watch your progress as you embark on such an important journey :)
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for you Waffles! The Woman would love to do something like that but none of us are that friendly!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool, Waffles! I can't wait to hear how your training goes.
ReplyDeleteMaxwell: Dood! I'm impressed! (Did they sneak treats to you? That may make me rethink the Puppia monstrosity if I get treats. maybe.)
ReplyDeleteMeWowZa! You are makin' your purresence make a difference! You are one cool cat!
ReplyDeleteAww, we are so excited for you and Glogirly. Your Waffle Wagon is a sight to behold, too.

ReplyDeleteCool that you're doing therapy, Waffles! WRG on the training!
ReplyDeleteWe bet you'll be a great therapy cat, Waffles! The mom says it is easier for a lot of people to talk to a kitty than to a person :)
ReplyDeleteYou ARE adorable, by the way!
That's wonderful. Well done, Waffles!
ReplyDeleteWaffles that's pawsome! MomKatt thinks my new kitten sisfur, Rachel, would be a good therapy kitty but we don't know how to get her started here in NC. You'll do just great, we're sure! We look forward to hearing more about your adventures. I'm sure you'll make a lot of folks smile!

We know you'll be a great therapy cat, Waffles!
ReplyDeleteWaffles! I'm so proud of you...what a great visit, letting people pet and talk to you. I bet riding around in the Waffles Wagon is fun. And look at that last photo of you where your lip gloss matches your nose! It's important to be your very best when going outside the town house. :)
ReplyDeleteZ-Girl
What a great outlet for Waffles! Me thinks that's right up his alley. ;)
ReplyDeleteAwwww , Waffles you are just to cute , say´s my mom-person !
ReplyDeleteWhat a career! Helpful to others and bonus: the boss has to be proud of you donating yourself to service. Gee, she has to miss you when you're gone, right?
ReplyDeleteDon't listen to her evil laugh....
Great job Waffles! And Glogirly too! We can't wait till you are comfortable enough that some pictures can be taken!
ReplyDeleteThey thought you were a girl? A big handsome ORANGE mancat like you and they thought you were a girl? You don't even have a girls' name, like me. MOUSES! There's NO hope for me, I guess. When MENcat like us have such beautiful faces as we have, peeps will always confuse us with the girls. *sighs*
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Nissy
We are glad your training is going well! You have some really great transportation. Jenna is too skittish to go outside, but I would love to have a cat that likes to walk on a leash or take a spin in a kitty carriage :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go Waffles!!!
ReplyDeleteGood job Waffles! We know you will be great. :)
ReplyDeleteMany, many concats, Waffles & Glogirly!!! We are so proud of both of you! Sounds like you had an excellent first visit. We love that last pic; looks like you're pleading with your mommy to let you go visiting again. :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm... so you go out of the house to do this therapy thing... maybe Hammy could be a therapy cat...
ReplyDeleteHmmm... so you go out of the house to do this therapy thing... maybe Hammy could be a therapy cat...
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Waffles! What a good kitty-boy you are. :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go Waffles! You are a very important and busy cat-it is so nice of you to spend some time with those humans :)
ReplyDeleteGood job Waffles! I wish I could be a therapy kitty too some day, but right now I'm just not getting the harness thing down to good.
ReplyDeleteYou got a pawesome helper in S-Bob (and his mom) He's a pro!
Dexter

Well done Waffles ! It's a very impawtant job to be a therapy cat and bring joy to people. Purrs
ReplyDeleteThis is so wonderful, Waffles. The people there will sure appreciate your visits.
ReplyDeleteGood for you Waffles. M wishes she could turn back the clock - she'd turn me into a therapy cat cuz she says I have a good disposition for it.
ReplyDeleteOh Waffles, I'm so proud as punch for you. This is such an important job and so, so wonderful for those in care who cant have their own cats, or want to remember the lovely feel of a warm pussy cat cuddle. You've just become my hero puss.
ReplyDeleteYou are one very, very cool cat Waffles! You should be proud. :)
ReplyDeleteHooray Waffles, we are so very proud of you too!
ReplyDeleteWe are so proud of you and GG!!
ReplyDeleteWell done Waffles! That is an important job you are doing.
ReplyDeleteYou are so wonderful Waffles! Proud of you, pal.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful Waffles. I knew they would love you. How could they not?
ReplyDeleteSue B
Good job, Waffles! And, having a nice set of wheels doesn't hurt!
ReplyDeleteHey, is there any money in this Therapy Cat bizness? If so, I think I'd like to try it. Heh heh.
ReplyDeleteWe think what you are doing is so important. Where our Grampie lived in the last couple of months before he went to heaven, they had two cats on each floor. The ginger one was outside his door when he passed.
ReplyDeletePlus the allowed therapy woofies to come in every couple of weeks. Mum said she met some nice woofies.
You should be so proud making people happy
ReplyDeleteLily
Waffles you are so handsome and cute :) Glad you did well on your training session. You are going to make a great therapy cat!
ReplyDeleteConcatulations Waffles. We know you are going to make a wonderful therapy cat. And we know that Katie probably enjoys the alone time. And your Waffles wagon is so cute. We really like your license plate. Good luck. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
