Waffles Wednesday: Fifteen Inches

Um, hi everybuddy. Waffles here.

Did you hear about my fifteen inches??? Everybuddy's talking about it on Facebook. Glogirly says all the girlcats will be beating down my door. The Boss says I'm a freak of nature.

Why all the fuss? I've got an honest-to-goodness, genuine, 15 inch TAIL! Glogirly measured it and everything.

It's almost TWICE as long as the Boss' tail. And I'm pretty sure for every stripe I get extra cool points.



So we googled "significance of a cat's tail length" and look what came up first on the list! It's a Catster Article written by our friend JaneA from Paws and Effect!  She's really smart when it comes to cat stuff.

She wrote that the average tail length for a male cat is 11 inches and for a female it's 9.9 inches. So I'm WAY above average. Four whole inches above average. And like a million inches above the Boss. All this and I'm barely a year old.

Hey! I'm barely a year old? Does that mean I'm having a birthday soon???

    Rags' tail is 16" :-O but he is 3½ and also pretty tall.
    I was always told longer tails are a sign of greater intelligence and shorter tails are signs of greater compassion. Hmmm....

    Wow, Waffles, you are one large kitty! Although I just want to mention, I am a very SMALL kitty, and and girl, and I have a 12-inch tail! So when you look at it from a percentage perspective, I bet mine is longer than yours!

    We're impressed. Of course, our Mom had to measure Raz's tail. His tail is an average 11" which surprised Mom because it looks longer!

    So I just had to check Alice's tail. She is just turning to six months old. Her tail "bloomed" so much it looks almost like a burden to haul around. It is 10 inches not counting the extra one inch of thick fur tapering off at the end of it. She went from a normal nice sized tail to a thick plume of a tail, seemingly over night. Between that and her feet, if she ever grown into it all she is going to be a very big girl!
