Feeling Super Smart with SmartCat Litter - and a GIVEAWAY for YOU!

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss!  What's this stuff in our litter box?

KATIE:  Uh... litter?  Clean litter? 

WAFFLES:  But where's the dust storm? Isn't there supposed to be a dust storm? Glogirly just poured it in a minute ago. Where's the dust storm?

SmartCat Litter Really IS Smart!

SmartCat is one of the newest biodegradable litters on the market from Pioneer Pet. It just recently made it's debut at the 2014 Global Pet Expo, where the who's who of the pet brands show off their latest and greatest products to the who's who of pet retailers and influencers.

Probably the most unique characteristic of SmartCat is that it's made from ...GRASS??? Yes, it's made from 100% USA farmed grass with no added chemicals or fragrances.  But that's not all. 

1. NO dust. Not one bit. REALLY. 

We're not kidding. 

2. NO smell. Not at all. REALLY.

Ok, you probably think we're pulling your paw. But seriously, just the sweet smell of nothing. Even AFTER it's been used.

3. Clumping Power

Out clumps clay and WAY out clumps many other biodegradable and natural litters. It's super easy to scoop and clean. None of that gunk stuck to the sides of the litter box. (yay!!!)

4.  Lightweight

Though SmartCat doesn't really market their litter as being lightweight, we think they should! We had two bags of litter, side by side. The bags looked to be about the same size. The clay bag was a whopping 40 pounds. SmartCat weighed in at a mere 20#.

5. Eco-Friendly

100% grass, fragrance & chemical free, biodegradable and renewable.

6. Paw-Friendly

The soft, fine texture is definitely easy on the paws. We thing cats who struggle with the texture of other *chunkier* litters will really appreciate this.

We've tried a lot of litters. And we've written about a lot too. We have three litter boxes and will often use a different kind of litter in each box. When SmartCat made it's debut in our litter room (yes we have our own litter room with curtains and everything) ... Both Waffles and I took to it right away. We still use the other litters too, but this is the first biodegradable litter we've pawed into right off the bat. 

Glogirly is thrilled, because she's loving the no smell, no dust and lightweight factor. There's a little bit of litter tracking, probably due to the fine, light texture. But nothing a small litter mat or throw rug can't catch. SmartCat is going to be a regular feature in our litter room.  .... and now, here's a chance for YOU to try it too!

A Year of Giving

We're here with Molly, the 1800PetMeds Cat, to share some exciting news with you for 2014! We're proud to announce that GLOGIRLY.com is now part of a wonderful donation project in partnership with PetMeds called Suggest A Shelter In Need.

Every quarter, our favorite hometown shelter, Feline Rescue Inc, will receive a giant gift shipment of cool stuff for the shelter kitties. Each donation, valued at $500, will include everything from medications and food to treats, toys, beds and furniture.

You may have heard us talk about this wonderful rescue before. Whenever there's a contest or opportunity to leverage our blog to help these kitties, we try to jump right in. Minnesota's Feline Rescue Inc is a small local shelter making a big difference for homeless and endangered cats throughout our state. Funded through private donations and run completely by volunteers, it's a shelter that has won our hearts here at GLOGIRLY.

So when the kind people at 1800PetMeds invited us to partner with them and select a shelter to support, we were tickled to tell them about Feline Rescue.

As if the generous donations aren't enough, they're letting us choose some cool stuff to try out here at the Townhouse!

Swagalicious Cat Bag!

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss! Check it out! I think this is Glogirly's swag bag from the conference cat!

KATIE:  You mean from the Cat Writer's Conference. I'm pretty sure she said to wait until she was ready. 

WAFFLES: Um, Glogirly? Um, so are you ready? To open the bag? You know, the bag with the swag?
