Happy 5th of July???

WAFFLES:  Happy 4th of July, Boss!

KATIE:  Waffles, you're a day late. As usual.

WAFFLES:  Ok, Happy 5th of July?

KATIE:  The big celebration was yesterday, on the 4th of July.

WAFFLES:  But you're wearing your star spangled sunglasses today, Boss.

KATIE:  And they're far more chic than that hat of yours.

WAFFLES:  So what's the big deal with the 4th of July, Boss? Besides cool hats and stuff.

KATIE:  July 4th is the day we celebrate our country's birthday, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  Birthday??? No wonder Glogirly decorated my cat lounge. Was there cake? I didn't get any cake.

KATIE:  No cake, Waffles. It's not that kind of birthday.

WAFFLES:  No CAKE??? What a rip-off.

KATIE:  Waffles, not EVERYTHING is about food, you know.

WAFFLES:  Are you sure??

KATIE:  On July 4, 1776, our country's founders signed the Declaration of Independence and the United States of America became, well... the United States of America.  Each year we celebrate our nation's birthday with family reunions, potato salad, and fireworks.

KATIE:  Lucky for us, there are no fireworks up here in the mountains. Still, it's probably a good idea to hang out under the sofa.

Happy 4th of July to all our US friends!
And a very special thank you to our Military Heroes–
The Servicemen, Women & Animals that keep our country safe.

WAFFLES:  I still say there should've been cake.

  4. Katie, Angel was in the linen closet for a very long time, because the flatlanders here in Metro Detroit went CRAZY with the fireworks! And Waffles, it is a natal day: a birth of a country, so you should have some cake, for sure!

  5. That's right, Waffles - no cake on Independence Day. There's PIE! Seriously, it's a really important holiday for all of us in the U.S.

  11. We had no cake, but we had a s'more dessert with red white and blue sprinkles. The Orlanado folks went crazy with fireworks, followed by a huge thunderstorm. Roxie spent the night on my lap.
