Houseguest-Ready with FELIWAY® for Cats & BONUS GIVEAWAY

This giveaway is sponsored by FELIWAY®
WAFFLES:  Hey Boss! Is she here yet?

KATIE:  Is who here?

WAFFLES:  You know, Glogirly's friend from Kansas.

KATIE:  Oh, you mean the intruder.

WAFFLES:   Is she hiding under here?

KATIE:  Of course not, Waffles. Glogirly hasn't even left yet to pick her up at the airport.

WAFFLES:  WHOA! I don't know, Boss. Someone's hiding under here. Either that or...it's ALIVE!

KATIE:  Seriously, Waffles? It's stuffed purple cat. It's called a Nuzzlebuddy.

WAFFLES:  But it's moving!

KATIE:  Because Glogirly put a cantaloupe under it.

WAFFLES:  Well that's just–

KATIE:  I know. But not as unsettling as impending houseguests.

Getting Ready for Houseguests
One of the most fun parts of living in the mountains is being able to share our little corner of paradise with visiting friends and family. And today we're welcoming fellow cat blogger, Lisa Richman, from A Tonk's Tail, to our home for a mini vacation visit.

Fortunately for Katie and Waffles, Lisa's leaving her clowder at home. But that doesn't mean they'll be welcoming her with open paws and friendly purrs. For just about any cat, new visitors, especially those that stay overnight, can spell s-t-r-e-s-s.

One of our favorite remedies for this is FELIWAY®. In particular, the spray and individual wipes come in super handy when guests arrive. So much so that Glogirly has started keeping a special stash in our guest bathroom for visitors. This way they can spritz the rooms where their belongings are and even wipe down their luggage with FELIWAY® Wipes. That's often where those unfamiliar smells are the strongest.

What is FELIWAY® and How Does it Work?
You know when your cat rubs up against a piece of furniture with their mouth? That means they're comfortable in their environment and when they rub their cheeks like that it leaves a facial pheromone. It's their way of marking that particular space as safe and secure. FELIWAY® Spray mimics this natural feline facial pheromone and helps to create that same sense of familiarity.

We've found it incredibly effective when people come to the house to stay overnight or even when we have a handyman or painter here for just an hour or two.

FELIWAY® isn't a drug. It's non-sedating, non-systemic, and has no known contraindications with any other treatment. In fact, there's a very good chance your own vet is already using it in their clinic and exam rooms.

How to Properly Use the Spray and Wipes
  • Spray a few pumps in the rooms your guests will be using, as well as areas everyone will be gathering in.
  • Be sure to wait 15 minutes before letting your cats near sprayed areas in order to allow the alcohol to evaporate.
  • Repeat twice daily for the duration of their stay.
  • Use wipes on guests' luggage. Just wait about 5 minutes before letting cats explore the bags.

Other Uses
Going to the Vet
Use wipe on inside of carrier and use spray on interior of car.

Redecorating
Spray near new furniture or rugs.

Scratching
Use only on areas you are trying to discourage your cat from scratching and always provide a scratching post or other scratcher as an alternative. Never spray on the scratching post; it may deter your cat from scratching there.

It's a GIVEAWAY!
We just know you're going to LOVE this! Three lucky GLOGIRLY readers will each win a FELIWAY® Spray and a Purple Kitty Nuzzlebuddy. Use the Nuzzlebuddy to hide a treat or favorite toy underneath for fun play anywhere - on the floor, on a chair...even inside a box! We think your cats will love it.

Just enter via the Rafflecopter widget below. Though prizes can only ship to US addresses, we're opening the giveaway to our readers worldwide so that if anyone outside the US wins, they can gift their prize to a friend or shelter here in the US.

Good luck, everyone!

  1. for a moment there I thought the Feliway was for Lisa.

Does the Nuzzlebuddy come with a cantaloupe?

  2. In a way, it is! We're going to *suggest* she take a moment to spritz her room and luggage. Pretty sure her bags are going to smell like a certain trio of Kansas kitties. ; )

  3. One of my two kitties LOVES visitors (more people to pay attention to her), but the other one is a nervous Nelly and I love to try the Feliway for him!

  4. How fun - two of my human's favorite people in the same house together with two of my favorite kitties! We both wish we were there, and we will be in spirit. Maybe we should load up on some virtual Feliway, LOL!

  6. I'm jealous. It sounds like you two are going to have lots of fun. I am sure Lisa will enjoy her visit

  7. Hope you all have a great time :) Unfortunately, my cats get pretty stressed when company comes over so I would use FELIWAY for these times as well.

  8. I use a similar spray for my dogs, since two of them are deathly afraid of thunder (and fireworks and other loud noises). We have three dogs and also three cats. My senior kitty, Moko, loves people and is great with the dogs, but actually doesn't care for other cats (the only exception has been our kitten, Kotoha). Moko has some other medical issues, so keeping her calm is a top priority. The other two, Arata and Kotoha, are friendly, but Kotoha is a feral kitten - I found her when she was just two weeks old and bottle fed her at first. She is fine with people, dogs, and other cats, but she does get stressed when someone other than the core family members who live at our house comes into our house. I'd love to see if this product would help.

  9. I have been going back and forth between my son's house and my home a lot since my grandbaby arrived, the cats in both houses get a little stressed with the strange smells being carried back and forth, I think the Feliway would help calm some of that down.

  10. I've never heard of the spray. Wipes yes, plug in yes. I have a cat here that thinks he's in charge if certain cats and dictates where they can be in the house. Maybe this could help.

  15. This would be very handy for us--not just for visitors, as we get few, but in case we adopt a new friend...

  16. I used the Feliway comfort spray on my cat's carrier when we went on a flight. She was nervous, but she made it through without an incident. On the way back, I didn't use the spray because I didn't have a second bottle at my destination, and my kitty peed while we were in the airport and it got everywhere! At least I learned my lesson then, and realized how helpful this spray could be. I would therefore use this spray while traveling for the most part.

  17. I didn't know it came in wipes. That's a great idea.

  18. Claire used the plug for Angel Loupi and Zorro, and it was totally useless... She thinks that if she had heard of the spray at that time, it would have been more successful. Purrs

  19. Relax, Katie. Glogirly would not let anyone in who is harmful.

  23. Something tells me that you two are gonna fall in love with your visitor, Katie and Waffles!

  24. The Nuzzle buddy is awfully cute but Waffles, you are right to be suspicious. And our mom had no idea Feliway made wipes.

  25. My kitty sister rubs again us pups that way. Is she marking us as her own?? I'm not sure what I think about that!

  33. This is a wonderful giveaway for a multicat home! I have a grandcat who doesn't get along with his fur sister, although he does get along with his fur cousin. Feliway sounds like a possible solution and i would love to try it. The Nuzzlebuddy looks like something the cats would enjoy, especially with a few treats or a catnip toy hidden underneath! Thank you for letting folks know about products that help pet parents (and grandparents) keep peace at home.

  36. This is the number one thing we recommend and sale at my vets office. It also is the number 1 thing I recommend to people who ask what helps.

Why? Because I know it works. If I didn't use it when I first got daedae I don't think Molly Mew could have handled it.
I just can't afford to buy it monthly

  37. I wish I had known about Feliway when I had my old girl!

  38. My cat Roxie and I are thrilled to find out we are one of the lucky winners!
