Hi everyone, Katie here.
We've introduced you to some of our kitty friends at Minnesota's Feline Rescue before. Remember? You squeeed all over yourself with so much kitty-love waiting to be adopted. (click for our Feline Rescue Feature HERE)
We've got an exciting event to share with you...especially you Twin Cities kitties.
What: Feline Rescue's Fabulous Feral Cat House Challenge & Food Drive
When: Sunday, October 27, 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Where: Feline Rescue @ 593 Fairview Avenue North in St. Paul, MN
When the temperatures dip down here in Minnesota, our outdoor friends need shelter to survive. Feline Rescue is looking for colorful, creative, technologically advanced, or simply super functional shelter designs to help keep outdoor kitties safe and warm this winter.
Design and build your own shelter or customize one you purchase. The challenge is yours!

Bring your shelter to the community cat open house at Feline Rescue's adoption center on Sunday, 10/27 between 1-3pm. They'll award two categories: Most creative and warmest for a MN winter.
Afterwards, participants may keep their shelter for cats they're feeding or donate it to Feline Rescue's outreach program to help other outdoor cats in need.
Whether or not you enter the competition, feel free to stop by and see what others have created. And bring some cat food - canned or dry - for the Community Cat Food Drive!
If you'd like to build a shelter for feral cats you are feeding but don't know where to start, call or email Feline Rescue. They'll give you a list of supplies to bring so you can build one together on October 27.
Phone: 651-642-5900 ext. 4
Email: outreach@felinerescue.org
We're not very handy here at the Townhouse...but we've got FOOD! We'll be there...won't you please join us?

VOTE HERE: "Waffles and The Red Dot"
PS from Waffles: I STILL haven't caught the red dot. But I think I know where he lives.
I just can't even imagine what those poor kitties have to endure. :-(
ReplyDeleteI voted. Is it a one time vote, or is it daily? I suppose I could find the answer if I really try, but I'm tired.
Thanks, Michelle!
ReplyDeleteYou can vote once a day through Oct 27.
We just added that into the blog post too.
xoxo
Paws crossed!
What a wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteWe vote every day!
I feel REALLY bad for the feral kitties in your state - winters are brutal for them! I'm glad there are humans looking out for these homeless kitties and building shelters for them, 'cause they really need it!
ReplyDeleteWhat an event - and we are in New Zealand and CAN'T COME.
ReplyDeleteWill you thank them from me. Tell them that someone on the other wisde of the world appreciates what they are doing for feral cats.

it is awful for the ferals here in Michigan too, what a fantastic event, wishing them tons of success with it!
ReplyDeleteWinters are brutal there! Wonderful event and cause. Check out what the NYC Mayor's Alliance did in their Architect For Change program. Architects held a competition to design winter homes for ferals.
ReplyDeleteIt's 35* down South this morning. Brrrrrrrrrrr! Those shelters look cool! Happy Furday. Hope many kitties get help in MN where it's even colder!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great event. The ferals here have it difficult enough and they don't face the kind of winters you do up there. We can't imagine how they manage. We hope lots of cats get help through this event!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a very cool, fun project, and you get to help kitties, too! :)
ReplyDeleteWe hope this event is a huge success and the kitties get lots of help.
ReplyDeleteWe hope this event is a huge success. We have voted for Waffles and shared on Facebook so our friends can too.

ReplyDeletehope they get what they need and more,xx Speedy
ReplyDeleteNice idea!!

Waffles has my vote even tho' I'm not convinced he knows where the red dot lives!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of creating warm safe places for the ferals for such hard winters.
Those cats can't be very feral if you can hold 'em and cuddle 'em. I'd like GG try to do that with me! MOL! When they owned the house, they had the most adorable house on the porch for the ferals. I'll keep voting for Waffles when it lets me.
