Nurse Katie's Unlikely Patient

Hi everyone, Katie here.

What I'm about to tell you must, I repeat MUST, stay between us. Just you me and your computer screen. I do after all have a reputation to uphold.

And for the record – If asked, I will deny all accounts of what you are about to read. I was never here.

So on Friday, Waffles had an appointment with the vet and a couple of sharp needles. It was time for his annual vaccinations and since he's all "I'm a therapy cat in-training" yadda-yadda, it's important for him to keep up to date on these things.

Everything was going as expected. Waffles even got to ride in his brand new ORANGE Sleepypod Air. There were lots of oooh's and aaah's. I seriously don't understand the fascination with the color orange.

Against my better judgement, he even made nicey-nice with the Vet Tech.

But when he came home, he wasn't feeling very well. He was sleepy and sore and didn't even care about dinner or finding the red dot. Glogirly decided she would take him back to the vet if he wasn't back to his normal, obnoxious self by morning.

Later that night, since he didn't feel like jumping into bed and sleeping on Glogirly's pillow, she put a small blanket down for him on the floor and brought some food and water up from the kitchen.

Ok, here comes the part you are NEVER to repeat. NEVER EVER
EVER.

A Morning Shocker
The next morning when Gloman got up, he discovered the above scene. Although photographic documentation is not available, we have recreated exactly what he saw.

Waffles was curled up, asleep on the blanket next to his food and water. His position is noted above.

Now, note my position. I was curled up and laying NEXT to Waffles. Let me be clear - We were NOT touching.  There was a safe distance of approximately 5-6 inches between us. I was not purring. And I was certainly not grooming him in any way.

Gloman was stunned. I don't think he even spoke for at least 3-4 hours.

Off to the Vet. Again.
When Nervous Nellie Glogirly got up, she hauled Waffles off to the vet again, just to be sure he was ok. Don't worry, the orange boy is totally fine. Except for the fact that he had to go to the vet twice in less than 24 hours. They checked him over thoroughly and sent him packing with a few vials of kitty-morphine to take the edge off his injection site tenderness.

It's been almost 12 hours since his dose of the groovy-juice and he's already acting more like himself. Jumping up on the bed, purring up a storm on Glogirly's lap. I suspect in no time at all he'll be back to sniffing my you-know-what.

All is well in the Townhouse.

Sick Day

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Glogirly has a nasty headcold. Probably because Waffles has made a habit out of sleeping ON her head every night. Cod only knows what kind of orange cooties he's sharing with her.  Don't worry though...I know exactly what she needs:

Let it not go unnoticed that there is NO orange in my prescription remedy.

WAFFLES:  Hey! Whattaya mean, no orange???

Five Stitches In Time

Hi everyone, Nurse Katie here.

If you were on Facebook yesterday you probably read about the OUCH heard 'round the blogosphere. Glogirly was slicing a loaf of french bread and missed. After the HBO words subsided, she ran off to urgent care with a hand shoved in a roll of paper towels.

Some have asked if WAFFLES was at fault. Well I'm sure we can find a way to blame him for something, but truth be told both Waffles and I were upstairs sleeping just prior to the bread incident. No, we were not sleeping together. Well...sort of. But I didn't like it.

She's crabby, can barely type and is resting as comfortably as Advil will allow. She says it's nothing serious, just 5 stitches and a big bandage.

Thank COD it's not her food hand.

The Day After

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Would you believe that Christmas almost didn't happen???

Glogirly and Gloman have BOTH been sick. Gloman went to urgent care on Sunday and Glogirly went on Christmas Eve.  You will not BELIEVE who Glogirly saw at urgent care just a few hours before he was to board his sleigh. That's right. The man in red. Well actually he was wearing jeans and a plaid shirt, but there was no mistaking his identity.

It was Santa.

Glogirly was unable to photograph the real Santa, what with being inside urgent care and all. But he looked just like this guy, only shorter.

Glogirly eavesdropped as best she could. He said his name was Croft or something and that he had a "party" to get to. Sounded suspicious.

He seemed to have some sort of special clearance and went in ahead of everyone in the waiting room. That was the last she saw of him.

They must have made him better, because although I never saw him, I KNOW he made a stop here at the Townhouse. Waffles Too was supposed to keep me awake, so it's all his fault I missed seeing Santa.  But thankfully he still left us a nice pile of kitty loot.

So now I'm giving Waffles Too some advanced nurses training. With both Glogirly and Gloman sipping cough suppressant cocktails and visiting with Aunt Biotics day and night, we have our paws full. We're very sorry this has kept us from visiting and commenting on all of your blogs, but we've been reading your comments and loving every one of them.

Hey, if you missed the cool video we all made for Gloman, you should check it out. It stars me, of course. But Waffles Too has a drum solo that everyone seems to love. I guess the kid's got a future. Glogirly says the best part of the video was watching Gloman watch it. He was smiling, laughing and wiping his eyes.

Working Cat Week - Day 2

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Welcome back to Working Cat Week. In honor of Glogirly actually *working* this week, I'm exploring my OWN career opportunities.

Yesterday we reviewed the pros and cons of becoming a professional BAKER.  Most of you thought I was crazy to even consider getting up that early in the morning. You reminded me that baking is much more than cute logos of cat cupcakes.  I'm pretty sure Glogirly was pressuring me while still under the influence of birthday cake buttercream.

Today's Career Spotlight: A Nurse
So what do you think? Is this the job for me?

  1. Giving back.
  2. I'm not afraid to draw blood.
  3. I can boss around the newbie nurses.
  4. I can't WAIT to reciprocate with the thermometer.

  1. Enough with the stupid hats already.
  2. The silly tops aren't much better.
  3. I don't like rubber gloves.
  4. Hospitals smell like dog.

Just another annoying friendly reminder...
Vote GLOGIRLY for Best Blog Post in the 2012 Petties!
You can vote once a day and every time counts. Thanks SO much for your support and your vote. XO

Thought For The Week

Hi everyone, Nurse Katie here.

It's been a great Gloman week here at the townhouse. He's feeling much better and is finally home from that nasty vet hotel. Thank you for all of your purrs and well-wishes.

I think this thought is perfect. For this week and every week.

The Great Crutch Duel

Hi everyone, Nurse Katie here.

Gloman is still under the weather so I'm devoting my blog to him this WHOLE week. Today it's all about crutches. Most would say they are no fun at all. But I am not "most." I've found a whole new use for Gloman's crutches.

I've challenged my arch rival, Black Cat, to a crutch duel.

This is Black Cat and me facing off, just before the bell rings.

Round One!

OMC, BLACK CAT IS DOWN!

Four, Three, Two, One...
KNOCKOUT by a single right swat!

Basket Of Goodies

Hi everyone, Nurse Katie here.
It's Gloman Week at the townhouse. He's a little under the weather so I'm devoting my blog to him this whole week.
Today it's all about goodies and gifts. What do treats have to do with treatment? Well besides everyone being nice to you when you don't feel good, you often get TREATS. A ginormous gift basket arrived for Gloman at the townhouse. It's bigger than ME. In fact, it's scale required me to physically circle the basket in order to inspect the contents.

Do my eyes deceive me?
What's THAT between the beef jerky (too salty for my taste)
and the bananas (I don't do fruit)?
See that little purple lid?

These babies are mine.
All mine.
