Indie Band The Plastics & The Cape Town Cats

Hi everyone, Katie here.

There's a cool indie band from Cape Town, South Africa called The Plastics and they've just released their new music video, "Occasional Lies." We love it SO much, Waffles and I are putting together our own garage-indie band. Ok, we're not exactly allowed in the garage. But hey...we've got pink instruments so we're half way there, right?

Why are we loving The Plastics so much?
CATS, CATS, CATS... and CATS on TAMBOURINES!!!

Their new video features 29 cats! How awesome is that!?

We had a chance to talk with them and get the inside scoop.
(get it? Scoop!)

KATIE:  We've got to know...how did you come up with the idea of featuring all these CATS??

THE PLASTICS:  The idea came from a pure fascination with cats. Cats are the cuddliest, weirdest, most uptight and at the same time most loving animals. It's just really absorbing to watch them and see what kind of weird stuff they get into. One day cats will rule the world again ...like they used to in Ancient Egypt, kind of."

KATIE:  Don't we already rule the world, kind of???  So the guys in the band looked really comfortable with the kitties. I think I even saw a couple of cuddles. Are these bonafide CAT MEN?

THE PLASTICS:  Yes! Three of the band members have cats. Pascal & Sasha have a family cat that's featured in the video (the ginger cat in the white lounge scene.) His name is Orange Man. Karl also has a cat named Leo, a black and white cat with a kink in his tail. Much as we tried to get Leo in the video too, it just kept not working. We're pretty bleak he didn't make it in.

KATIE:  Ok, here's a real test. Can you name all the cats in the video?

THE PLASTICS:  Peaches, Scotty, Wiretail, Sir Henry Ramona, Harvey, Schnitzel, Steve, Molly, Libby, All the DARG cats, Eponine, Ollie, Father, Wednesday, Annie, Mowgly, Zara, Zen, Sunflower, Doomslayer, Murray, Tatty (RIP), Mischief, Spock, Catty, Tom, Molly, Tigger, Leila and Orange Man. Phew!

KATIE:  So what was the funniest thing about filming the cats?

THE PLASTICS:  The funniest thing that happened in the video was definitely seeing the different personalities of the cats (especially after a little bit of catnip.) Each cat would react in such strange ways and when the cameras come on it was always the so-called "shy ones" that would come alive and perform for us. Many funny memories and a couple of loving scratches too!

KATIE:  Thanks to The Plastics for reaching out to us and sharing their awesome music and their Cape Town Cats. Check out the video below...you'll love it!!

And now, we've got just three words for you:
CATS. ON. TAMBOURINES!!!

Riddle Me This

Hi everyone, Katie here.

WOW! Thank you SO much for all of your wonderful comments on my Kitty Vogue video! It was super fun to make and we're still striking poses and singing along here at the townhouse.

We asked you what your favorite part was and you answered!

The hands-down fave was my 'bumping and grinding' scene.
I bet you didn't know my g-string is LEATHER.

The bongos came in at a close 2nd.

But no one mentioned noticing a riddle we hid in the credits. I think Daisy the Curly Cat was onto something because she noticed Mancat No. 1's name was Quinn. Sorry Daisy, but it's not Quinn as in Harley Quinn.

Me and my Mancat Dance Troupe.

All of the Mancat names came from Glogirly's favorite TV show.

...so can you guess the name of the show?

You can watch the video AGAIN to catch the credits.

Are you ready?

Turn UP the volume.
Push the furniture out of the way.
Come on, Vogue.

Well?
I bet you couldn't stop.
Go ahead, admit it. How many times did you watch?
What was your favorite part?

Nothing But Glamour

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Glogirly and I are still filming my VOGUE music video. I think it's safe to say that we've got the halftime show at next year's superbowl covered. This material kitty has got moves even Madonna has not attempted.

And how about that photo with Marilyn!? I'm quite the time traveler cat. Wait until you see how I moved in on Joe DiMaggio. Marilyn is still not speaking to me.

I continue to be challenged by the quality of available mancat dancers. No. 6 is doing better. But the extras and alternates...wow. How many times can I tell them to strike a pose???

Just look at those two bozos!

The production should be finished sometime this week. Don't worry, you'll be the FIRST to know!

You Got It

Hi Everyone, Katie here.

It didn't take long after the big hint on my last post! The Furries of Whisppy were first in with the correct answer to, "what's my next music video?"

Madonna's VOGUE!

I'm still auditioning my mancat dance troupe. Some of them are having trouble with the stairs on my video set. One in particular has two left feet.

Hey, Mancat no. 6 ... you're out of line!

I'm also learning how to play a few new instruments.
My favorite is my the bongo drum.

Gotta be careful not to blow open my bongo
with my finely sharpened claws.

Hint

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Oh, you were SOOOO close in guessing what my next project will be! Our cute Bengal friends at Bengal Business were the first to mention Madonna, our favorite Material Girl. And Madonna it IS!

But can you tell us WHICH of her songs I'm going to perform????

This is easy now. Here's your next photo hint:

Dance on air.

What's Next?

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Thanks to YOU, the bestest friends in the blogosphere, my popularity is soaring both in the film and music industries. My most recent project, Katie Le Chat Goes To Paris, had me on location in everyone's favorite French city. I even danced the cat-cat at Moulin Rouge! As you know, it's pretty expensive there. I went through so much salmon I eventually had to come home.

So what's next? Well as much as I loved playing the accordion on the streets of Paris, my heart really purrs for pop from the 70's, 80's and the first few months of 1990.

THAT'S your clue! ...and my photo composite of course.

Can you guess what my next project will be?

Name That Tune

Hi everyone, Katie here.

The production of my upcoming music video has had me a little tied up. Don't worry, no rope was involved. In the meantime I thought it would be fun to give you a few clues. See if anyone is smart enough to...

NAME THAT TUNE

Era: Mid-70's

Sales: 3rd best selling single in UK of all time

Top of the Charts Factoids:
  • When released, the song stayed at the top of the UK Singles charts for 9 weeks.
  • 15 years later, after the death of one of the band members, it again reached #1 on the UK Singles charts. This time for 5 weeks.
  • The next year, the song reached #2 on the US charts after being featured in a popular movie.

Do I sound like Casey Kasem yet?

What makes it unique?
  • The song has no chorus section.
  • But it has everything else - a ballad, a guitar solo, a hard rock section....even a little opera thrown in.

From my guitar solo.

I also get to play the piano.

Did I mention that I dance the Fandango?

Now again I must insist that you do not ask your friend, Mr. Google, for help. If you can't stand it and decide to cheat, just don't give it away.

On your marks.
Get set.
GO!

My Next Project

Hi everyone, Katie here.

I've been resting up after my music video tour. This Killer Queen really needed her beauty rest. The response to my musical prowess was so great I decided to begin production on a new and very special recording.

Killer Queen was an autobiography of sorts. Glogirly says it suited my personality perfectly. She said it with a smirk though.

Get your Kleenex ready.

My next role is much more challenging and dramatic. I play a character torn between life and death. Happiness and sorrow. It requires a tremendous amount of self reflection.

But when you're as good looking as me,
self reflection comes natural.

Killer Queen

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Just in time, I'm ready to rock you into the weekend!

You've been such good sports over the past few days, trying to figure out the song featured in my new music video. I've been throwing you a few bones each day, but it wasn't until late last night that someone finally got it.

Congratulations to Caren & Cody from Cat Chat! They pegged it. And she pegged ME. Glogirly says there really is NO better song to personify me than Queen's 1974 breakthrough hit, 'Killer Queen.' Freddy Mercury, the pianist and lead singer, wrote the lyrics first and then added in the musical arrangements. He wrote the song about a high-class call girl. Gloman has been known to call me a whore. I'm not sure how I feel about all this.

So without further delay...here it is!

Pssssst! Blogger cuts off the right side of the screen, so if you want an optimum viewing experience, just click HERE to go straight to YouTube. Oh and because I've violated about a gazillion copyright infringement laws, you can't watch it on your mobile device.

Glogirly's had a bit too much fun creating my costumes and sets for this production. Now the song is playing in her head 24/7.

She goes to sleep humming...
"She keeps her Moet & Chandon . . . . . . . in a pretty cabinet."

She wakes up singing...
"In conversation . . . . . . . . . . . she spoke just like a baroness."

All day long it's...
"She's a killer . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .QUEEN."

Now YOU can sing along too!
