TODAY'S RECAP

It's Someone's Birthday!

Today's our last day here at our condo castle on the lake and it's a very special day. We're celebrating Gloman's birthday! Waffles has been working on a new song and I'm trying to find enough earplugs for everyone. 

We heard it SNOWED back home yesterday! No snow up here, but the lake was so cold the waves crashing into the shore were filled with big shards of ice. It looked REALLY cool (and really COLD!) and sounded like a cross between a giant martini shaker filled with ice and huge ocean waves crashing in. It was super loud and pretty scary at first. But once we got used to it, we all had fun watching the waves out our windows... while Gloman braved the cold, camera in hand.

Glogirly says it's funny how we've adapted so quickly and are doing so many of the same things we do at home. It's almost like we did a copy/paste on the computer. Copy all of us, our toys, food, daily routines and paste them into this new place. Once we're home, we're going to share some of the tips and tricks we've found helpful to make a feline-friendly vacation like this possible.

KATIE:  Waffles, that's the kind of oxymoron that's REALLY going to get you into that fine mess I was telling you about. Why don't we just wish Glogirly a Happy Birthday before it's too late.

WAFFLES:  You mean before she's even OLDER?

Hi everyone, Katie here.

FYI:  This is a Waffles-Free Zone today, so if you came looking for the orange terrorist, just move along. Nothing to see here.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my furry tuxedo heart for all of the birthday wishes you left for me here, on Facebook, Twitter... I even got a card (besides the one from my VET) from Speedy the House Bunny, all the way from the UK!

So How WAS My Birthday???

Well after Glogirly's inconceivable oversight, I was delighted to find she made a valiant attempt at making my day special. I dined on a delectable chicken pate topped with some delightful freeze dried chicken, all served in a special heart-shaped dish and topped with a candle. Ok, so we had to light it in Photoshop...but I could still make a wish.

So What Did I Wish For???

What do YOU think? And my wish, in part, came true. While I enjoyed my gourmet birthday breakfast, Waffles was enjoying a time-out in an undisclosed location. I didn't have to look over my shoulder even once during mealtime. 

Sadly my dreams were dashed just as soon as I was done eating. Waffles came running to my dish all, "Where'd it go? Where'd it go?"  Don't worry, he got his own breakfast. Just none of mine.

Happy Birthday to ARE YOU KIDDING???

KATIE:  Ever have one of those "Worst Birthdays EVER"??? You know, when the only card you get is from the VET???

Did you know that yesterday was my birthday?
I didn't either.

Neither did Gloman.
Neither did the mailman.
Neither did the man in brown shorts.

It's bad enough that I thought my birthday was in September. Adding insult to injury, I learned that I was not turning 8 years-old, like Glogirly's apparently poor math skills calculated. I turned NINE. NINE!!!

How could this happen?
Glogirly's got some flimsy excuse about how she never knew my REAL birthday until a few months ago when we all had a pet psychic reading and the psychic needed everyone's birthday for some astrology thing. I TOLD you this was flimsy. So she goes into her files, pulls out my adoption papers and for the FIRST TIME, discovers my real birthday.

Oh, and did I mention she's got it written on a post-it note stuck to HER COMPUTER! Yeah, it's been there ever since the psychic reading. Too bad the psychic can't help her find her missing BRAIN CELLS.

So the way I see it, I've got NINE years worth of presents coming.

WAFFLES:  Did someone say presents???

The Day After

Hi everyone, Katie here.

What's wrong with this picture?  I'll tell you what's wrong with this picture. What's wrong is that empty plate sitting in front of me. What's wrong is I've been left out of yet ANOTHER so-called birthday celebration.

As you know, yesterday was Glogirly's birthday. And I KNOW you know because everyone and their DOG left a comment wishing her a happy day. So, what am I? Chopped liver?  Glogirly's birthday yesterday gleaned more comments in a single day than any other day in the whole history of my blog! And what about me?

An empty plate.

Gloman took Glogirly out to their favorite restaurant last night to celebrate getting older. Ok wait a minute. What's wrong with THAT picture?  You mean to tell me you humans actually CELEBRATE getting older? All the while COMPLAINING about getting older? There are some things I will never understand.

So back to the restaurant. I know for a fact they dined lavishly on beef tenderloin and salmon. I hear chocolate cake was involved as well, but let's get back to that salmon. No doggy bag. No kitty bag. No foil swans. Nothing.

I'm sitting vigil, glaring at watching my empty plate. The guilt should set in sometime soon.

Despite my still empty plate, I'm sharing what appears to be an overly sappy note that Glogirly begged me to post. But I'm a giver. So here you go:

That's right. Today the world burns a little brighter, a little hotter, thanks to the 58,982,342,093 candles on Glogirly's birthday cake.  Feeling a bit overheated?  A little scorched?  Go ahead, blame Glogirly.

Oh my Cod...HOW MANY???

Since I'm SUCH a giver, I've prepared a very special video birthday greeting for my girl. I'd be remiss if I didn't give a big shout-out to my fellow Real Housecats.  You kitties sure do know how to rock the birthday song. I love you big time.
