The Mighty Hunter's Neko Birbug Giveaway

WAFFLES:  Shhhh...be very, very quiet. The Mighty Hunter is on safari, stalking the elusive Neko Birbug.

WAFFLES:  The elusive Birbug is toying with the Mighty Hunter. Can you hear him?

BIRBUG:  *whispers* Waffles! Waffles! Over here!

WAFFLES:  The elusive Birbug takes to the sky! The Mighty Hunter LUNGES, missing the elusive Birbug by a whisker. The elusive Birbug taunts the Mighty Hunter.

BIRBUG:  HA HA!

WAFFLES:  GOTCHA! The elusive Birbug takes a wrong turn and is caught in the clench of the Mighty Hunter.

WAFFLES:  Victory is sweet for the Mighty Hunter. Ok, can we do it again?

Waffles' Latest Obsession: The Neko Birbug
Nekoflies' wand toys have long been a favorite here in the Townhouse. From the furry Kittenators to the iridescent-winged Kragonflies, we've enjoyed many hunting safaris. But none so exciting as their latest, the Neko Birbug.

Play Hunting for Prey
It's our natural instinct as cats to hunt our prey. And no toy has EVER ignited this instinct in Waffles more than the Birbug. To say he's obsessed with it is an understatement. In fact, when it's not in play it's kept in a locked, impenetrable cabinet.

Interactive play is both mentally and physically challenging for a cat. It chases away boredom while satisfying the urge of the hunt and strengthening the human-cat bond.

Designed with a Cat's Instincts in Mind
Nothing about Birbug's genius design is an accident. Created by someone who obviously loves and understands cats and their instincts, Birbug is like no other wand toy.

1.  Color, Color, Color
Cats can see green as well or better than many other colors. The incredibly detailed Birbug has various shades of green, from a deep furry green to a bright and iridescent chartreuse.

2.  Looks Like a Bug, Not a Ball
A cat would never hunt a plastic ball in the wild. The Birbug mimics real prey.

3.  In the Air and On the Ground
Birbug was designed to resemble a flying bug. Whether chasing it in the air or stalking it on the ground, Waffles just can't peel himself away.

4.  Details, Details, Details
It's pretty hard to miss all intoxicating details. A furry striped body, long and dangly elastic legs, brightly colored antennae, teeth-proof iridescent wings, long dancing tail feathers, even striped feathers. We've never seen so much care and attention to detail go into one toy.

5.  Easy and Adjustable
The clip on the end of the string is SO easy to attach to the rod and to adjust to different lengths. No sharp fishing clips, no pinched fingers and no snagged kitty claws.

6.  Top Notch Quality Construction
The toy is hand-sewn onto the incredibly sturdy string. There are no sharp edges. It takes a licking (literally) from Waffles and just keeps on ticking.

Did You See the Telescoping ROD???
The other genius part of this toy is the telescoping rod. Designed to look like a fishing pole, it quickly and easily adjusts to three lengths: 32", 25" and 18". The shorter adjustment is great for agility training and luring cats up and down a cat tree. The longer length is perfect for really active play, catching air and stalking around corners. The rod is very strong too... Waffles is no girly-girl when he's playing. He puts his toys to the test and this one passes with flying colors.

The soft cork handle is comfortable to hold onto, making it very easy to create a realistic flying motion when the Birbug is zooming through the air. It's also comfortable to hold onto for hours at a time. Yes, we know.

It's a GIVEAWAY for You AND Your Favorite Shelter!
When we told the people at NekoFlies about the Santa Kitty Toy Hop happening this week on cat blogs all over the world and benefitting cat shelters all over the world, they were really excited to sweeten the prize so some shelter kitties will have a chance to play too.

The Prizes
One lucky GLOGIRLY reader will receive the new Neko Birbug and Telescoping Rod for themselves AND a Neko Kiticatterfly and Telescoping Rod for their favorite shelter. Although prizes can only ship to US or Canadian addresses, readers worldwide may enter and gift their prize to a US/Canada friend and shelter if they win.

How to Win? We Want to See YOU in Action!
Just upload a photo of your cat playing with their favorite toy to the GLOGIRLY Facebook page. If you're not on Facebook, you may email your photo to glogirl@visi.com with Neko Photo in the subject line.

Then fill out just two quickie entries in the Rafflecopter widget below.
1. Your email address.
2. Your Facebook profile name you used to upload your photo.

You may also earn a few extra entry points for leaving a comment, but that's optional. And that's it!

You may upload as many photos as you wish, but only one photo will count towards the giveaway.

Those readers that are visually impaired or who for any reason are unable to take a photo may submit a brief story about how your cat likes to play. Post it to the GLOGIRLY Facebook Page or if you're not on Facebook, email it to glogirl@visi.com with Neko Story in the subject line.

Winner will be randomly selected... this isn't a competition! Everyone will have an equal chance of winning.

We received our Neko Birbug and Telescoping Rod no charge from Nekochan. We also received a fee to cover the time it takes to take photos, write the blog post and administer the giveaway. Friday Facebook Feline FAIL

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss! Did you hear that the Facebook is going to make it so hardly any of our friends can find us? Can they really do that???

KATIE:  Wha-What???

WAFFLES:  Seriouslies, Boss. They're going to make it so that the Facebook Pages for brands and blogs and businesses and stuff will eventually only be able to reach 1 purr-cent of the people who like them... unless we pay Facebook lots and lots of green papers.

One purr-cent doesn't sound like very many purr-cents.

KATIE:  One percent means most people won't even see THIS much of me. That's blogosphere robbery.

WAFFLES:  So what do we do, Boss?

KATIE:  Well, the smartest thing to do is be proactive. We should invite our friends and readers that come here through Facebook to subscribe to our blog via email ...just in case they miss our daily Facebook post and link to our blog.

Everyday when we publish a new blog post, our subscriber friends receive a nice email from us containing the whole post, photos and a quick link to our site. It arrives in their email inbox the same time every night, when most cats are sleeping. That way when they wake up they can have their breakfast with a side of GLOGIRLY.

WAFFLES:  That's even better than a side of BACON! ...sort of.

KATIE:  There's no annoying ads, no spam and we never ever share their emails with anyone. Never ever. So Waffles, why don't you ask our friends who haven't yet subscribed, especially those that come here through Facebook, to consider signing up.

WAFFLES:  Ok um, everybuddy? If you want to wake up with me and the Boss everyday, please just fill out the little form below my picture. I promise it will be fun.

Double-pinky-paw promise.

Nobody Messes With Officers Katie & Waffles

Officers Katie & Waffles

OFFICER KATIE:  Hi everyone, Officer Katie here. Last night on Facebook, one of our dear friends and readers sent us a message. Seems they saw another Facebook page passing off a photo of me and Orange Crush here as their own.

OFFICER WAFFLES:  Boss, that's not cool, right?

OFFICER KATIE:  No, Waffles. It it's not only not cool, it's not LEGAL.

OFFICER WAFFLES:  Um Boss, which picture was it? I hope we were wearing our furs!

OFFICER KATIE:  Well thank Cod Waffles, we were both fully furred. In fact, it's this very photo of you and me walking. It was just taken over the weekend and appeared for the first time Sunday on our Badass Cats blog post.

Like we always do, we posted a teaser and blog link on our Facebook page and included the photo. We love it when people enjoy our photos and share them. That's how many people find our blog. We also like to share other page's photos and always credit or tag where the photo came from.

What was particularly shocking in this case is that our photo was posted on another Facebook page as if it was their own. In fact, our copyright watermark was even REMOVED.

OFFICER WAFFLES:  Boss, that's almost as bad as being naked!

OFFICER KATIE:  We've reached out to the owners of the page asking them to either remove the photo or edit it to include the appropriate copyright and link back to our page. We didn't accuse them, because we can't be 100% certain they were the ones that removed our watermark. But we're pretty web savvy and have been able to track down all instances of where this photo was shared, and nowhere was the copyright removed except for the "Cats Paradise" Facebook page.

And if anyone should know better, it's them. They have almost a half million likes and do virtually nothing but post cat photos.

OFFICER WAFFLES:  Boss! On their page over 800 other people shared our photo! ...the one WITHOUT the watery mark. And like 9,000 people liked the picture!

OFFICER KATIE:  Yup. Imagine how nice it would have been to have had some of those people visit our page and meet us.

OFFICER WAFFLES:  That stinks, Boss. What can we do?

OFFICER KATIE:  Well, we'll see if we hear back from the page owners. In the meantime, do you know what's REALLY cool?

OFFICER WAFFLES:  Our hats?

OFFICER KATIE:   No, Waffles. Our FRIENDS. They've come rushing to our defense and have been leaving lots and lots of comments on our stolen photo. We work really hard to create original photography that we're proud of and it's discouraging to see it stolen like this.

Update:
Just before we were about to publish this blog post, we heard back from the page owners:

"Picture taken down . Picture has been found on the net ( google) And no we don't take the watermark of . You can see that on our page we have more pictures with watermarks on ."

Our Reply:
"Thank you for removing it. I'd love to know you you found it on Google since it was just published for the first time yesterday. I was unable to find it through Google searches earlier this evening. As a fellow Facebook page owner and a photographer, I love having my images shared. But it's not fun when the credit is removed. I'm not accusing, and not saying you did...just expressing how frustrating it is. Thanks again."

Stepping Into the Twilight Cat Zone

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Facebook, the place we call home for funny, silly and cute cat pictures has taken a shocking turn. Just last week, a disturbing series of photographs were posted ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE. I must warn you, what you are about to see is graphic. Small kittens may need to leave the room.

Tia & Charlie???
The two cats in this so-called *photo* are not who you think they are. This is not, I repeat NOT, me and Waffles.

They call themselves Tia and Charlie. According to an anonymous source, the two cats, if you can call them cats, are hiding out somewhere in Tennessee, obviously trying to blend in.  It's rumored they are actually from another dimension. Waffles thinks they may be from France.

WARNING:
If you see Tia and/or Charlie, please proceed with caution. Keep your kittens close. Keep your wand toys closer. They may be armed and dangerous. They may not even be CATS.

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss! Wanna go for a ride in my wormhole???

Thank You
♥︎ Special thanks to our Facebook friend & reader, Sue, and her *imposter* cats. ♥︎

No Receipt, No Return

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Earlier this week, Glogirly took Waffles to PetSmart on some so-called shopping adventure. If you missed Waffles' lame attempt at a blog post about it, you can catch up HERE. For a beautiful, hopeful, yet fleeting moment, I thought Glogirly might be returning him. Or at least exchanging him for something worthwhile. Treats, litter, clearance dog toys...

Alas, my hopes were dashed when she returned home and opened up the carrier. But I'm persistent if I'm anything. Resourceful. Desperate. And I'm pretty good on a computer.

Just have to login to Facebook and do a little status update. Photo attached, of course.

Smucci Too Pet Bed Giveaway!

Don't forget to enter our COOL giveaway! One lucky GLOGIRLY reader will win their choice of a small or medium Smucci Too Bed Set valued at $159. There's LOTS of hip designs and beautfiul colors to choose from. Enter by Sunday, September 8 @ 11:59pm EST.

Waffles Wednesday: Refrigerator Kitten

Um, hi everybuddy. Waffles Too here.

If you were following us on Facebook last night you probably read about the *shriek* heard round the interwebs. Glogirly says I got in big trouble. But I'm in a cent, I tell you, in a cent. Just look at this face.

It was midnight. I was minding my own business, practicing my zoomies, while Glogirly was busy blogging. I found a cool secret spot behind the big steel ham safe. All I had to do was jump onto the kitchen counter and shimmy between the ham safe and Gloman's coffee crusher. No one saw me do it, so it wasn't wrong. Right?

When Glogirly heard something suspicious coming from the kitchen, she came looking for me. I thought she'd be proud of me and my new spot. But when she discovered I was trapped playing behind the big steel ham safe she SHRIEKED. She was calling my name, reaching her fingers around back to play, she even tried to move the big steel hame safe, but it wouldn't budge.

All of the spaces around the ham safe are really tiny...less than a one inch gap.  But I found the one and only 3 inch gap. A perfect passageway to my play spot.

After about 30 minutes, Glogirly ran upstairs to wake Gloman. I'm sure she wanted him to come play with us. But by the time he was half way down the steps, I was out and looking for a new spot for all of us to play. Gloman didn't say a word, just turned around and headed back upstairs. He looked kinda funny with his squinty eyes and wild hair.

Glogirly said she didn't know whether to glare at me, hug me, or get down on her hands and knees and thank Cod for my olympian jumping skills.

Hi everyone, Katie here.

For the record, I had absolutely nothing to do with this incident.
In fact, I slept through the whole thing.
But this morning I heard all about it.
ALL about it.
