KATIE: Waffles, you're a day early.
WAFFLES: Ok, Happy 3rd of July?
KATIE: The big celebration is tomorrow, on the 4th of July.
WAFFLES: But you're wearing your star spangled sunglasses today, Boss.
KATIE: And they're far more chic than that hat of yours.
WAFFLES: So what's the big deal with the 4th of July, Boss? Besides cool hats and stuff.
KATIE: July 4th is the day we celebrate our country's birthday, Waffles.
WAFFLES: Birthday??? I'm going to decorate for the party. There's cake, right?
KATIE: No cake, Waffles. It's not that kind of birthday.
KATIE: Waffles, not EVERYTHING is about food, you know.
WAFFLES: Are you sure??
KATIE: On July 4, 1776, our country's founders signed the Declaration of Independence and the United States of America became, well... the United States of America. Each year we celebrate our nation's birthday with family reunions, potato salad and fireworks.
Happy 4th of July to all our US friends!
And a very special thank you to our Military Heroes– The Servicemen, Women & Animals that keep our country safe.
Please keep your pets safe too.
- Provide a safe and quiet room for them to comfortably hide during loud fireworks.
- Keep windows and doors shut.
- Turn on some soft music.
- Use calming aids like Feliway sprays or diffusers.
- Just act normal. If you're stressed or show concern for your cat, they'll sense something is wrong.
WAFFLES: I still say there should be cake.
There *should* be cake. Maybe a chick-hen cake.

ReplyDeleteOur big fireworks show nearby was this evening, and my human shut the windows and turned on the air conditioner so the noise wouldn't bother us.
There should be cake to go with the grilling!
