Um, hi everybuddy. Waffles here.
I started school today! And I didn't even have to ride the short bus like Katie said I would.
Katie's boyfriend, Spaghetti Bob, is registered therapy cat. So you KNOW he's gotta be really smart. He's a professional clicker cat. So today his human came over to the Townhouse to teach Glogirly and me how to use my new clicker.
Did you know that every time it clicks I get a treat? I think I'm going to LIKE this clicker stuff.

Glogirly says she likes the telescopey stick. But I tried to look at the moon through it and it didn't work. She also says she likes that it doesn't require any batteries to click.
My first lesson was pretty simple. Every time I touch my nose to the little green ball at the end of the clicker, Glogirly clicks it and immediately gives me a treat. No questions asked.
I don't get a treat though if I try to attack the green ball. I tried biting it. No treat. I tried hugging it. No treat. Just the nose touch gets me my treat.
So that's my first day at clicker school! Glogirly says I'm gonna be a really good student. Do you think she's going to assign me homework?
Pee S: This isn't a review or anything. We bought my clicker with our own green papers. The clicker people probably don't even know who I am. YET.
We need your daily votes to help win $1000 for the very special kitties of our small hometown rescue shelter, Feline Rescue, Inc of St. Paul, Minnesota. With just a click, you can help make a difference for this amazing all-volunteer, no-kill shelter organization.
Let's help one of the little guys making a BIG difference in the lives of homeless cats.
Please vote GLOGIRLY for Funniest Blog. And while you're at it, we've got a number of friends and fellow bloggers that are finalists in other categories. Each of them has selected an equally deserving shelter for their donations, should they win.
Vote once daily through July 31. ♥
Oh my cat! You is in clicker school? We hope you are on your best behavior, Waffles. We wouldn't want you to end up in the corner! MOL!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday! (we voted again)
Waffles, you're going to be a great student! You'll probably even be valedictorian!
ReplyDeleteWow! Ichiro got to go to clicker school and got lots of treats. But he got a little wild following it and the male made him go to close the earring stand and it fell over and scattered earrings and Ichiro. He's been less enthusiastic about since and the male hasn't been enthusiastic because one of the Woman's favorite earrings broke. So the moral of the story is, don't use the clicker toy when there are earrings around! Although they are fun to push around too...
ReplyDeleteWaffles, I love you.
ReplyDeleteSounds like your first class went very well...already figuring out what you can and can't do to earn a treat!
ReplyDeleteWaffles has a private tutor? And Spaghetti Bob no less? Awesome and say hi. I'm sure W will be an A + student.
ReplyDeleteOh Waffles...I definately think you deserve some kinda reward for hugging the ball...maybe a hug back? ;)
ReplyDeleteSuper fun, Waffles! Amelia (who is pictured in our post today) is a clicker cat too. She even has the same sticky-thingy as you!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! I would be interested to see all the things you learn!
ReplyDeleteWOOF WOOF!

Aw that is so awesome! I obviously know nothing about training cats because I've never seen one of those long telescope clickers before. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteMy human has one of those, but she has not tried it on any of us yet. She taught Binga to jump through a hoop without it. But then, Binga is a treat-addicted freak of nature.
ReplyDeleteGood boy, Waffles! We know you'll do just fine with clicker school! Tell Spaghetti-Bob's human hi from Tabby, please. :) (We're friends with him on FB.)
ReplyDeleteWow, Waffles! That's impressive! What does The Boss think?!?
ReplyDeleteMommy tried using the dog clicker with Tutu and every time she clicked, Tutu would cringe. After a day of clicking, she would hide when she saw the clicker.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Mommy needs your kind of clicker. Can you please let Mommy know where you bought yours (and if it can be bought online). Thanks!

We hadn't seen a clicker with an approximation tool built in. Very nice. We can't wait to see how the clicker school works for you, Waffles!
ReplyDeleteI bet Glogirly is going to teach you to walk on a leash with that clicker, Waffles. I still say you look just awesome in that blue harness.
ReplyDeleteHey, we never knew Spaghetti Bob was Katie's boyfriend! And that he lived nearby - so many blogosphere romances are loooooong distance.
We went to clicker school for a little bit, Waffles. We failed. We hope you do better and get lots of treats.
ReplyDeleteWe think the clicker Glogirly is using is better than the one we had...where'd she get it??
Is Katie going to learn too? My Gracie was really good and started at when she was 8 years old.
ReplyDeleteYou can teach an older cat new tricks, especially when they LOVE treats.
We have that clicker too. It's got a good sound. Some of the clickers are too loud and cats don't like them.
xxoo

Waffles, what a good boy you are, and cute, as always. How many treats did you get? Dad bought Mom one of those clickers a couple of years ago. We told her where she could put it. Have fun! Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteThat is the best school ever! Where do I sign up!
ReplyDeleteFinn
Sounds like fun! I'll do anything for a treat!
ReplyDeleteWow, school sounds like an awful lot of work, but we like the sound of getting treat too.
ReplyDeleteThe Paw Relations
Waffles, you are so smart! Brains and looks! ♥

My Thunder is a clicker cat, and he did very well--doing obstacles--jumping through a hoop--then I got a dog that needed clicker training for behavior issues (mostly with Thunder) and that ruined it. Now, the dog wants to play clicker, too. (The good news is it did solve the behavior issues.)
ReplyDeleteI have had fantastic success with clicker training my horses.
Clicker for cats-- nice. Didn't realize it was possible. -SlimDoggy
ReplyDeletegood job Waffles - you are a quick study!!
ReplyDeleteThat looks cool. Maybe Mom should try it with Raz.
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
Waffles, very impressive! I think you are going to be a natural. Beautiful photographs.
ReplyDeleteWaffles, free treats just for touching your nose to the little green ball?!? Where do I sign up for clicker school?
ReplyDeleteWaffles I hope you like your training and all the treats you get. I learned to do tricks the clicker. It might be I was started very young six or seven weeks old. I was leash trained by four months. I can beg, fetch, shack paws and sit with hand and some vocal commands I've slowed down some, 15 years old and have cancer. Mom is letting me be a snooze bum in my old age. She tried to teach brat 3 years old, but she just doesn't get it. I think male cats are easier to train. least that what Mom and Pop thinks. All the males they have had they could train so easy the females not so good.
ReplyDeleteWOW pal, I'm impressed. M bought a book on clicker training, for fortunately for me - she never read it. he he
ReplyDeleteVery cool Waffles. Mom is going to suggest clicker training to New Dad Dave for Leo. We think Leo will do really well.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to be a Therapy cat someday like the pawesome S-Bob??? Do you think I could learn the clicky thing too? I want to be smarter than Harry and Tipp!
ReplyDeleteDexter
Are you going to be a therapy cat, too? We think that would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis is PAWSOME. I am afraid Wubbikins might starve though because she just likes to bite everything...although Waffles may inspire her to learn!
ReplyDeleteyour homework is to read up on this fellow named pavlov.
ReplyDeleteWaffles, that's so neat. You ought to me tired out after school - too pooped to disturb Katie. We're very proud of you!
ReplyDeleteFantastic! I've considered clicker training my dogs, but I couldn't get used to clicking instead of saying 'good boy' or 'good girl'. It seems, I need to condition myself to the clicker before I can train with the clicker. :)
ReplyDeleteso how many treats did you get?
ReplyDeleteWow, we haven't seen a clicker like that before. Benny is clicker trained for a number of tricks, but we just have the clicker unit, no green ball on a stick.
ReplyDeleteWait. You get a treat if you touch your nose to the green ball? Each and every time? Really?
ReplyDeleteMoosey (who touches his nose to EVERYTHING) wants to know when HE can enroll in Clicker School. :)
Voting every day!
Sounds like you had a great first day of school. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteI think Katie will have to revise her opinion of you Waffles!!! You will outwit her yet!! :)
ReplyDeleteGood for your W2!
ReplyDeleteWhen Momma first looked at your picture we thought your collar said PUPPY and we wonder why you were in a puppy collar and then Momma put her glasses on. Yeah Momma it's always better when you use your glasses.
Hi everybuddy,
ReplyDeleteSome of you have asked where we got my clicker. So in case you stop back, Glogirly ordered it from Amazon. It's called a Clik Stik. Here's the linky:
Waffles' Clik Stik
love,
Waff
School? My mama home schooled me. Peep couldn't teach me a thing. Likely 'cause I'm way smarter than her. Hope you are a better student than I was. Bet you will be. You've got props and everything!
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Nissy
Waffles maybe you can teach my Tubby to use the clicker. LOL.
ReplyDeleteSue B
The short bus....MOL!
ReplyDeleteHave fun at school Waffles, we is sure you will gets straight A's!
Sasha, Sami, & Saku
TW bought a cheap $1 clicker and I told her in no uncertain terms where to shove it. I never saw it again. End of story. Enjoy your treats.
ReplyDeleteNo touch gets a treat! Nutty
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
Sounds like great fun! Does Katie join you in clicker school? (Although don't tell her I asked that or she might try clicking the end of my nose!)
ReplyDeleteI know my mommy wishes I would learn from clicker school but that would mean she'd have to teach me. xox
ReplyDeleteWaffles it seems like you have it figured out: don't bite the green ball and touch your nose to it = treats for you!!! :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with school Waffles,xx Speedy
