Road Ready and Conference Bound

WAFFLES:  I'm ready for the conference, Boss. 

KATIE:  Waffles, the BarkWorld-MeowWorld Conference isn't until next week. 

WAFFLES:  Yeah, but I have to get ready. Glogirly says I have to get comfortable in my new Waffle Wagon. 

KATIE:  And WHY exactly do we need to have ANOTHER orange stroller in the Townhouse???

WAFFLES:  Because Glogirly says she wants me to have more room when I'm greeting all of my fans. This one has a king sized cat bed and a retractable sunroof. 

KATIE:  Why don't you just invite them back to your hotel room?

WAFFLES:  That's a GREAT idea, Boss!

KATIE:  I don't know, Waffles. This roof doesn't look like it's going to keep the rain out. 

WAFFLES:  Rain?

KATIE:  You never know.

WAFFLES:  I know! If it rains, I'll just climb on top so no water comes through my sunroof. 

KATIE:  What did I say yesterday?  ... I think it was something like, "That cat is not right in the head?" I rest my case.



Where's Waffles Going???
Later next week, Glogirly will be attending the BarkWorld/MeowWorld Social Media & Pet Blogging Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. This will be her third time at the conference and this year she's bringing Waffles. And a stroller. And a scratching post. And a litter box. And cat litter. And cat food. And cat treats. And cat toys. And her pillow that Waffles HAS to sleep on every night. Let's just hope she's got room for a change of underwear.

The conference offers learning sessions focused on helping pet bloggers be the best they can be. From writing to photography to technical stuff called SEO, attendees have an opportunity to pick and choose the topics they want to learn about. But the paws-down highlight is meeting up with other bloggers. Lots of dogs will be in attendance, but only a few cats. Something tells us this is going to be a Waffulicious conference!

Don't worry your furry little heads though... we're not taking a blog vacation. We're going to keep you posted with daily updates and photos from the road. This is going to be FUN!!!

Waffles Wednesday: Vegas Baby, Yeah!!! Waffles is Going to BlogPaws!

Hi everybuddy! Waffles here!

Did you hear? Did you hear? I'm going to Vegas! TODAY!!!

Glogirly is taking me with her to the BlogPaws Pet Blogging & Social Media Conference! I get to fly on a plane and everything! AND... we're bringing my Waffle Wagon!

Glogirly and I met with our vet yesterday to talk about my trip and make sure I was ready and that I'd be ok and all.  I have a super official looking Statement of Health to show all the airport guys.

I might be a little scared on account of this is my first really BIG trip, but Glogirly will take really good care of me. She's bringing my red dot, my feathers, my catnip pickle and lots of treats too!  I have two litter boxes... a little one she's carrying with her and a bigger one in her suitcase. She even bought a portable scratcher for me!

She says I have more stuff in the suitcase than SHE does!

I get to sleep in a hotel room for four whole nights. Glogirly is bringing my favorite pillow. It's her pillow to so we're going to share.

We'll be sure to let you know how everything is going.

Waffles Wednesday - Rockin' the Orange

Hi everybuddy, Waffles here.

Look what the man in brown shorts brought me! I have a brand new ORANGE harness! 

Glogirly got it for me on account of her mom used to tell her, "Always match your handbag to your shoes."  I LOVE bags, but I'm a little worried about wearing SHOES.

I bet the same applies to harnesses and Waffle Wagons!

Oooooh! The Ladies at the nursing home are really going to SWOON!

Waffles Wednesday: On The Road Again With a Therapy Cat In-Training

Hi everybuddy, Waffles here.

Yesterday Glogirly and I visited the ladies in the nursing home. Before we left the townhouse, I made sure that she packed everything I would need for my visit.

Um, Glogirly? Are my toys in here? Don't forget my toys!

I don't see my treats. Are you hiding them from me again? I promise not to eat the whole tub this time. Really, I promise. 

What's In My Therapy Cat Bag?

Did you know I have my own therapy visit bag for all my stuff? I bet you're dying to know what's inside!

1. Rabies certificate (ouch)
2. Therapy training log (my supervisor writes in it after each visit) 
3. Treats (yum)
4. Toys
5. Postcards to had out to the ladies
6. Kitty wipes in case I get dirty
7. My blanket in case I want to get out and sit in one of the ladies' chairs
8. My iPad with lots of my pictures 
9. And more treats

My Therapy Supervisor
I have an awesome supervisor at the nursing home. Her name is Kathy and she takes care of scheduling my time and making sure I get to see all the ladies that LOVE cats. She stays with me and Glogirly and does a wonderful job of introducing us. She works with all of therapy animals and really knows her stuff.

At the end of each visit, she fills out an evaluation. After my tenth supervised visit, I'll be able to apply to be Licensed Therapy Cat.


Here's what my supervisor wrote about me yesterday:
"Great visits today!! Waffles is getting even more comfortable."  ...She forgot to mention that I'm getting even more cute.

Waffles Has a GIRLFRIEND???

WAFFLES:  Hi everybuddy, Waffles here. I have a new girlfriend!!! 

Meet Angie Bailey. She's the talented funny-girl-author behind the cat blogs, Catladyland and Texts From Mittens. And she's also sort of our neighbor. We reviewed her latest book, Whiskerslists: The Kitty Classisfieds recently and just last night, took a field trip to our local bookstore for a special signing event.  I got to meet Angie in purrson! She has pink cat ears. I bet you didn't know that.

Oh, and I was the MOST POPULAR cat there!!! 

KATIE:  Waffles, you were the ONLY cat there.

WAFFLES:  I've never been in a bookstore before! There were lots of cool smells and the people were super nice. They all wanted to talk to me and take my picture. 

WAFFLES:  I rode through the store in my Waffle Wagon. Everyone wanted a ride! ...and a kiss too.

Postcard Return Address: The VET

Hi everyone, Katie here.

I used to dread the man in the brown shorts who'd ring the doorbell and pound on the door. I realized though that he often comes bearing gifts. Boxes of treats, food, toys, even feathers.

I had no idea it was the MAILMAN I should actually fear.

A postcard came for me. Trust me, it WASN'T from one of my fans. I recognized the return address immediately. Westgate Pet Clinic. I looked on the front, I looked on the back, frantically searching for Waffles' name. Surely he must be due for something.

My hopes were dashed when I saw my own name. Some kind of vaccination, which we ALL know means a shot. And something called a Feline Well Check. That's just a sugar-coated way of telling me I'm going to be poked, prodded and inappropriately touched.

I haven't had my temperature taken in years. They're all too scared of me. I'd like to keep that trend going.

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss!?! You get to go to the Vet??? COOL!

KATIE:  You're kidding, right?

WAFFLES:  You wanna take the Waffle Wagon?

KATIE:  Ah, no. If I must go, I prefer to arrive sans wheels.
