Katie & Waffles on National Feral Cat Day® Fundraiser & Giveaway

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss? How come there are cats that live outside? Don't they have families and homes and toys and stuff?

KATIE:  Waffles, not all cats are as lucky as we are. There are millions of cats without homes and families to love them.

WAFFLES: So where do they live? Where to they eat? And play?

KATIE:  Some live in shelters. Those are the lucky ones. But many live on the streets. Many have never seen a wand toy or played with a crinkle ball.

WAFFLES:  How is that fair? How can we have so much and they have so little?

KATIE:  That's why we need to help them, Waffles. Our feral cat friends need us. And so do the kind and generous people that care for them. Did you know that many of our friends that visit our blog care for feral cats in their neighborhoods and communities?

Many of them practice TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) in an effort to end the tragic cycle of overpopulation. They feed them every single day, make sure they receive veterinary care when they're sick, they talk to them, they even give them names.

WAFFLES:  It sounds like they really love them.

KATIE:  They do. Very, very much.

Today is National Feral Cat Day®
Alley Cat Allies launched National Feral Cat Day® in 2001 to raise awareness about feral cats, promote Trap-Neuter-Return, and recognize the millions of compassionate Americans who care for them. With each year, more and more people celebrating and supporting.

We've Got Giveaway Winners!

Hi everyone Katie here.

I know, you've barely slept a wink since we announced those two exciting giveaways here on GLOGIRLY. Well, WAKE UP! The wait is over.

Congratulations to the trio of crazy cats at A Tonk's Tail:  Allie, Maxwell and FaRADay. They're the lucky winners of a HIGHLY COVETED NVR Miss Litter Box.  These three crack us up every time we visit. And their COMMENTS...well, those leave us in stitches too.

Here's what they had to say about the prospect of winning a NVR Miss Litter Box:

Maxwell: Dude. Allie needs this. For real. She's - uh - ENTHUSIASTIC.

Allie:  MAX!!! You do NOT say that about a lady! Now I'll never be able to show my face outside the house AGAIN!

(We're not able to publish FaRADay's remarks)

And a BIG congratulations to Christine and Riverfront Cats! You're the lucky winners of a copy of Homer's book, Homer's Odyssey - A Fearless Feline Tale, or How I Learned About Love and Life with a Blind Wonder Cat, written by Gwen Cooper.

Christine was so excited when we told her the news! She's an inspiring and devoted TNRM (Trap-Neuter-Return-Manage) advocate and cares for 20 beautiful neighborhood cats. You can read HERE about each of them...they all have names and know them!

Christine is also instrumental in finding forever homes for homeless cats ready to give up their life on the streets, bringing lots of purrs to their new families. She is going to give her copy of Homer's book to the next lucky family that adopts a black kitty. We think that's a beautiful gesture.

We encourage you to visit both Riverfront Cats and A Tonk's Tail...you'll be glad you did! Check them out on Facebook too! You can tell them Waffles Katie sent you:
