#BarkWorld Day 3: Flat Katie & Waffles' Narrow Escape From Giant Attack Dog

An unidentified giant dog is reportedly behind a near fatal attack on two flat cats at the BarkWorld Social Media & Blogger Conference in Atlanta, GA.  The unprovoked attack took place mid-afternoon, Saturday, while bloggers were enjoying peach cobbler snacks. It is not known whether the crazed dog had gotten into the sticky dessert or if it played a role in vicious confrontation.

The victims are identified as Flat Katie & Waffles from the GLOGIRLY cat blog in Minneapolis, Minnesota. According to onlookers, the flat cats were minding their own business during a snack break when the large dog unexpectedly stormed the cats.

Eyewitness to the attack

Eyewitness describes scene as terrifying.

"The dog was gigantic. He was going after the orange one...the orange Flat Cat.  The orange flat cat was helpless. He couldn't fight back, he couldn't even meow for help. And the black and white flat cat just sat there frozen, eyes wide open. It was terrifying."

It is believed the giant monster dog grabbed Flat Waffles and threw him to the floor. The attack continued as the dog sniffed and pawed at the victim. Numerous eyewitnesses have reported horrifying growling noises believed to be those of the perpetrator.

Shortly thereafter, the still unidentified dog turned his attention to the other flat cat. As the altercation escalated, a good samaritan sprung into action, rescuing the flat cats before any permanent injuries could be inflicted. Reports indicate that the dog fled before the authorities could contain the scene. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information as to the identity or whereabouts of the giant attack dog should leave a comment below.

Flat Katie & Waffles are scheduled to return to Minneapolis today, Sunday, and have been cleared by their flat doctor to fly. They could not be reached comment.

#BarkWorld Day 2: Live Cat Sighting

FLAT WAFFLES:  Hey, Flat Boss?

FLAT KATIE:  Waffles, enough with the Flat Boss already. Just call me Boss.

FLAT WAFFLES:  Ok, so Fla.. I mean Boss?  Did you see the real-live cat at BarkWorld today???

FLAT KATIE:  You mean this cat? The one just to our right?

FLAT WAFFLES:  What's that lady DOING? Is she playing wheelbarrow? 

FLAT KATIE:  No Waffles, it's not a game. It's a cat grooming demonstration.

FLAT WAFFLES:  Cat grooming? So why's the cat not grooming herself? Is her tongue tired?

FLAT KATIE:  No, Waffles. This is Petunia the cat and she's getting a day at the spa. Danelle German is the president of the National Cat Groomers Association and she's giving a hands-on demonstration showing some of the techniques they teach at their institute and she uses in her cat grooming business.  

FLAT WAFFLES:  Wow, they go to school to learn how to groom? 

FLAT KATIE:  It's the world's first and only feline-exclusive grooming school.  Glogirly sat next to her at the Meow Breakfast today and was fascinated to hear all about it. Everything from a shampoo and blow dry to a comb out and mani-pedi. ...they can even do a "sani-trim" to keep things clean and tidy in those nether regions.

FLAT WAFFLES:  Do I have nether regions???

FLAT KATIE:  Glogirly was very interested to hear about the care and patience that goes into handling the cats and gaining their trust as well as some of the benefits a day at the spa can bring – no hairballs, luxurious and fluffy coats and just plain feeling-good.

During the demo she also trimmed the long hairs around Petunia's eyes and nose so she could see much better. With her breed the hair grows long and can cover part of their eyes.

FLAT WAFFLES:  Is Glogirly going to give US a day at the spa?

FLAT KATIE:  Well I think she's probably going to start combing us more. And we all know YOU could use a nail trim. For now though, I'd think twice about playing with your toys in the bathtub.

Waffles Wednesday: The Silent Treatment

Um hi everybuddy, Waffles Too here.

Ever since Katie & Waffles On-A-Stick got home from BlogPaws, I've been getting the silent treatment. They don't talk much, what with being flat cats and all. And Katie... um I mean the Boss, isn't talking much either.

I think it's cuz I won a Nosey Award and she didn't. Don't worry though. I won't let all this fame and fortune go to my head.

Word.

Katie & Waffles: Honorary Fire Safety CATS

Hi everyone, Katie & Waffles On-A-Stick-Here.

One of the highlights of our trip to BlogPaws was meeting our friends, Firefighter Dayna & Molly The Fire Safety Dog. I know, I know... Molly's a DOG. But she DOES wear a pretty black and white coat and she even likes cats. Glogirly became friends with Dayna & Molly when she designed their blog, business cards and swag for them. They really wanted to put their best paws forward for BlogPaws.

They surprised us with an amazing honor. They made us HONORARY FIRE SAFETY CATS!!! We even got hats. (The jury's still out on whether the REAL Katie & Waffles will want to wear their hats...but us flat cats think they're pretty cool.)

Their blog, Fire Safety Rocks, was a finalist in the Nose-to-Nose Awards for Best Cause Blog. When Dayna and Molly were unexpectedly called away from BlogPaws to appear at a fire safety event in New York City, they asked US if we would accept the award on their behalf, should they be lucky enough to win. And they DID!!!

Because an important part of fire safety is being prepared, Molly the Fire Safety Dog pre-recorded an acceptance speech that Glogirly was to play on her iPhone into the microphone up on stage.

When emcee David Frei (the voice of Westminster) announced Fire Safety Rocks as the Best Cause Blog Winner, Glogirly ran to the stage with both of us, Katie & Waffles On-A-Stick in one hand and her iPhone in the other. (We even wore our hats.) She didn't have enough hands for everything so the emcee had to hold us while she played Molly's speech into the microphone. I bet David Frei had never held a couple of flat cats wearing fireman helmets before!

Hi everyone, Katie-On-A-Stick here.

Glogirly, Flat Waffles and I made it safely home to the Townhouse yesterday. We had a GRRREAT time at BlogPaws with all of our friends, old and new.

But all this BlogPaws-ing has made even us flat cats pretty sleepy.  Glogirly hasn't unpacked yet and she's been napping all day. At least she finally opened up the suitcase so Flat Waff and I could get some air.

He won Best Twitter Design for his Waffly-cute Twitter profile. From the sounds of the cheers and applause, everyone must REALLY love breakfast.

Somewhere inside this suitcase we've got Waffles' trophy wrapped up and hidden. Maybe THAT's why Glogirly hasn't unpacked yet.

So far, Katie has remained silent. It's not yet known if she is aware of Waffles' Win, but she's been avoiding the pawparazzi and maintaining an extremely low profile.

BlogPaws Day 1: Some Furry Attendees

Today was the first official day of BlogPaws! Flat Waffles and I were making the rounds with Glogirly and you'll never BELIEVE who we caught her chumming around with.

I sure hope there's no more room left in her suitcase, or the REAL Katie and Waffles are in for a BIG surprise.

Katie & Waffles On-A-Stick: LIVE From BlogPaws

Hi everyone, Katie-On-A-Stick here.

Flat Waffles and I landed in our nation's capitol yesterday in preparation for the BlogPaws Pet Blogging and Social Media Conference.  We were virtually (and literally) glued together inside Glogirly's luggage. Would you believe she actually CHECKED us?  The nerve.

So Glogirly's been flitting around all day, connecting up with blogging friends that arrived early, putting faces with the fur. She also spent some time holed up in our hotel room assembling some TOP SECRET swag she'll be doling out tomorrow and through the rest of the conference. Don't even TRY to guess what it is...our lips are sealed. Literally, sealed.

Since her alarm woke us up at 3:30 am (so early even the REAL Katie & Waffles hadn't opened their eyes) we're anxious to get our shut eye. That is if we can figure out how to shut our eyes.

BlogPaws Blogging Update

Glogirly tells me that our blog posting might be a little wonky while she's rubbing furry shoulders with everyone at BlogPaws. Don't worry...we'll still be posting everyday, but we might not post at exactly midnight EST each night. And we might not be able to share our links on the Cat Blogosphere. Katie & Waffles On-A-Stick For BlogPaws

Hi everyone, Katie here.

I'd like you to meet Katie & Waffles On-A-Stick.

Preparations for BlogPaws are in full-swing. Glogirly leaves Wednesday with her official BlogPaws traveling partners. Personally I think Flat Katie is WAY more beautiful than Flat Waffles.

WAFFLES:  Um, Boss? Who are these cats? They kinda look like popsicles or giant suckers or something.

KATIE:  Huh.  I see only ONE sucker here. 

KATIE:  Hmmm... Waffles-On-A-Stick smells much better than the real thing. He's kind of sticky though. And a little lop-sided. Almost like he's been into the spray glue.

WAFFLES:  Ok, Boss. I'm ready. 

KATIE:  Waffles, only Waffles-On-A-Stick is going to BlogPaws. As much as I'd like to see you go, Glogirly says you're staying home with me and the Cat Sitter. 

WAFFLES:  The Cat Sitter is coming again?!?!?!?!?!  YAY!!! 

KATIE:  *sigh*

WAFFLES: Um, why do I feel like someone's looking over my shoulder?

KATIE:  If you haven't registered for BlogPaws there might still be time. I hear the conference is nearly sold out so you better snap to it!

There's a great line up of learning sessions and speakers, brands handing out cool free stuff and hundreds of blogging friends to meet. The conference ends with a big red carpet awards event. They'll be naming the winners of this year's Nose-To-Nose Awards!  (paws crossed!) Each winner will get to donate 400 pounds of cat and dog food to the shelter of their choice!!!  

WAFFLES:  Um, and there's cheesecake.
