Grooming, Grooming, Grooming... Keep Them Kitties Grooming #SundaySelfies

WAFFLES: Hey Boss. Do your paws taste like chicken? My paws taste like chicken. Do your paws taste like chicken?

KATIE: My paws taste like my paws, Waffles.

WAFFLES: But do they taste like chicken?

KATIE: Waffles, seriously. Do I look like I have feathers?

WAFFLES: No, but you have a nice beak.

About Today's Photos

All three of today's photos were taken earlier today... well, by the time you're reading this, today will be tomorrow and the photos will be so yesterday. Every Saturday, Katie and Waffles spend hours making sure their furs will be their Sunday-best.

Though Katie is the reigning queen of fastidious grooming, and has the hairballs to prove it, Waffles didn't take up grooming as a hobby until later in life. But now he can groom with the best of cats. Fortunately for Waffles, he and his iron-clad stomach have never had a hairball. Can you believe it?

We have very good luck keeping Katie's hairballs to a minimum with a product our vet recommended last year called Cat Lax. Don't be fooled by the name...it's meant to eliminate and prevent hairballs. The product description says it has a 'pleasant taste.' But in our experience it's virtually tasteless and has no discernible scent. It doesn't even phase sensitive eaters like Katie.

We've heard a lot of great things about coconut oil too. Both as an anti-inflammatory and as a preventative for hairballs. Glogirly regularly uses it in her cooking, and is just starting to introduce it to Katie as an alternative to her usual hairball remedy.
