Stockpot Cats

WAFFLES:  What's up with the big pot, Boss?

KATIE:  Glogirly has to get rid of all her pots.

WAFFLES:  How come? What's she going to eat out of?

KATIE:  She has to replace all her pots and pans with ones that will work on our new stovetop. It's an induction.

WAFFLES:  So do these old pots get inducted into the pot hall of fame?

KATIE:  More like the pot garage sale of fame.

After all, this is Colorado.

About Today's Photos

Friday was a big day here in our new mountain house. Glogirly had all of our kitchen appliances replaced. When we moved in the refrigerator and freezer had compressors that sounded like a struggling steam engine, the dishwasher sounded like jet airplane coming in for a landing and the oven was just about ready to fall out of the wall. The cooktop hadn't been cleaned since before Katie was born, so that got replaced too.

The new cooktop is all fancy, schmancy and uses induction technology. It's the kind of stovetop that will boil water in seconds, yet stays much cooler to the touch than standard electric cooking surfaces. It uses some kind of magical electromagnetic voodoo powers to warm up Glogirly's chicken noodle soup.

BUT, it won't warm up her soup in just any pan. In fact, not one of her pans works with the new cooktop. So if she plans on eating anytime soon, she better get shopping.

  1. Welcome to induction cook top hell. We've lived here for 4 years and are still replacing pots and pans. The Mommy's beloved Wilton Armetale is sitting in the pantry gathering dust...Maybe we could use them for cat beds?!?!

  6. Oh my...............Our Mommy needs a new oven as only one burner works on our cook top, but she was most annoyed to discover that what they are selling as slide in's now are not real slide in's so she wants an entire kitchen remodel so she can have a stand alone range.

    Waffles we hope that Glogirly has a way to cook your chicken!!!!!!

  8. I have to tell you that on a Monday morning here in Connecticut I sure do enjoy reading Waffles and Katie's latest interaction before going on about my day! Good luck with your "un-potting!"

  9. Hmmmm, M is scratching her head trying to figure out what you have for a stove. She had the glass top range (can't remember what it was called) but they had told her too that she might need different pots. As it turned out, hers did work. Will be anxious to see what it is that you are getting.

  13. Awesome shopping opportunity and brand spankin' new appliances!

    Katie and Waffles might prefer you keep any large pans for their use. You know, the cat motto: If it fits I sits!

  17. Katie ... "Waffles! There's chicken in that pot!!"
    Waffles ... "Chicken?!?! I LOVE chicken! Is it KFC?"
    Katie ... "You better check it out!"
    {Waffles gets into the pot ... and the top clanks over him.}
    Katie ... "MOOOOOOOOM! This pot is ready for the trash!!!"
    {Pause}
    Katie ... "Why is it so heavy? Err ... whatever you do, DON'T open that lid! There's a monster in there and I caught it for you!"

  19. Yowza! We hope that Glogirly has a microwave to heat things up til her fancy new cookware arrives! Chicken soup is not good if it's not hot!

  20. Interesting that you need new pots and pans. Mum will have to watch what she gets should she replace the stove/oven.

    Remember, soup can be heated in the microwave.

  21. Glorgirly, maybe not so fast to get rid of all your existing pots. Do read this article:

  23. We have an induction cooktop. Connor walks on it and then it beeps waiting for other buttons to be pressed to turn a burner on. Fortunately there are safeguards so he can't turn it on (or at least he hasn't figured out how to yet). But many many pawprints that have to be wiped off everyday.
