Waffles Wednesday: Coming to Terms with my Red Dot Addiction

Hi, my name is Waffles.

Um, hello?  Anybuddy?

I think this is where you're supposed to say, "Hi Waffles."

Ok, I'll start over. Hi, my name is Waffles. (♪ Hi, Waffles... ♪) And I'm a addict. No, not the kind that really likes math and arithmetic and stuff. I'm addicted, um, to the Red Dot.

It all started when Glogirly brought the Red Dot home from one of those conferences. He moved into the wall by the kitchen. That's where he lives with his Red Dot family. He only comes out at night.

Until one day, I found out his cousin moved into my cat tower over by the piano.

I chased him, he chased me. I chased him some more. He even TOUCHED me.  In BROAD DAYLIGHT!

Don't worry. It didn't hurt.

Anyway, Glogirly says I need to play with REAL toys more. Like feathers and catnip pickles and furry mice with bells in their tummies.

Really??? But I thought Red Dot WAS real.  He's real to ME. Doesn't that make him really real? I mean, really?

And what about his Red Dot family???

  1. It's ok bro, I understand... I have a thing like that, Dad calls it a "shiny". Sometimes it comes to visit me on sunny days when Dad sits in the one chair by the window. I see Dad wave, he must be waving at the shiny, cause there it is! I like to chase it too... maybe it's a Ginger thing...

  9. He only comes out at night, or mostly only.. isnt that kinda creepy? I'd be worried about him, especially after he turned your paw red! Red and orange clash, dude...

  12. Your red dot has a FAMILY? We can't even catch the one. Are they multiplying behind the sofa or something. Oh, Cod, we'll never exterminate them now...

  13. We have some of those horrid red dots too. It is very annoying not being able to catch them. Fenny even helps us chase them.

  14. Oh that red dot...it's been the downfall of many a cat....

  18. Maybe you need to have those red dots exercised...I mean exorcised! You know, like in that movie.

  19. Some of us really, really love the red dot. Mostly Astrid and Calista go bonkers, but we all will play at least some. Mom bought us one of the electronic red dot machines that she can set to run for 15 minutes. We like it, except that is not a long enough play session. Go get 'em Waffles. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  22. We totally understand, Waffles. We too have a dot that drives us nuts. It's not a red one, it's a light yellow dot. You're not alone ! Purrs

  23. Absolutely nothing wrong with following a dot around! Could be worse, you could be like our old cat Hobie going around unplugging power cords with your teeth!

  25. Hi Waffles! I think you should be able to play with whatever you want, whenever you want. Besides, I think the red dot family is probably far more exciting to play with than most toys.

  26. Well, we all have our addictions. Me? I just KNOW there's something in the bushes out front and I HAVE to check every time I go out there. Every SINGLE time, 20 times a day!!!
OK, maybe not 20, but I would if I went out 20 times.
    Cammie!

  27. Maya & Pierson have learned what the red dot device looks like. As soon as they see the light pen, they start looking on the floors and walls. When I'm done playing with them, I bring the red dot to my palm and close my fist. They think I caught the red dot and they stop looking for it as soon as I put the light pen away.

  28. We love the red dot game. Keeps them entertained for hours.

  29. I hope you get that red dot. Luna's kitty cousin, Freckles is on the same quest!

  30. Hi, Waffles! Hey, we all have our addictions, right? That Red Dot comes around here sometimes, too! The only thing is we can't bunny-kick and put the bitey on him or his family.

  36. Hi Waffles. It's nice to meetcha. My name is Mario! There we got that out of the way. I don't see anything with playing with red dot if that is your thing. Quite frankly, those dot boys don't do much for me, but to each his own.

  37. don't worry Waffles - we know the red dot is real

  38. Waffles, you are not alone in your addiction. Cinco and Manna are both red dot addicts. You guys should all get together and have a support group (or you could just chase the dot together and have a better chance of catching that little devil).

  39. Waffles, TW learned from Jackson Galaxy that after chasing after the red dot, you need to play with something you can actually catch and hold or you’ll be a frustrated cat. You need to be able to bite the hell outta something and the red dot isn’t gonna let you.

  40. The red dot scares the poop out of Scooby Doo. Its funny that the red dot chases him. It must know he is afraid of it. BOL!

  41. It's ok, Waffles. You're among friends, and no one's judging . . . really.

  43. Hi Waffles,
We too love the red dots!! Flashlights too. We do take breaks chasing our favorite real toys too. Keep everyone on their toes buddies.

  47. Hi Waffles! I'm Pixel. (now you say "Hi Pixel!") I have a confession to make too...I am addicted to a Red Dot that lives in MY home too. I go crazy over it...it's so bad that if any shiny surface gets hit by sunlight at just the right angle and makes a "dot" on the wall/ceiling/floor, I go nuts and scramble to get at it. I leap on the back of the couch, try to climb the wall, whatever it takes to get me closer to the "D-O-T".
Just wanted to let you know you're not alone and I understand. Now that we've bonded my friend, you must come by sometime and visit my blog.
