Feeling My Way With Feliway

Hi everyone, Katie here.

Have you missed me? Seems a certain orange kitten brat has been horning in on my limelight lately. Who am I fooling?  He's practically a full-grown cat who's turning into a regular blog hog.

Well today is Classic Katie. I'm just hanging out, looking beautiful. Where's Waffles? Who knows. Who cares. Probably asleep in my bed, playing with my Fling-a-ma-String or stealing my food.

Glogirly plugged this sweet smelling thing into a bunch of our electrical outlets. It's called Feliway. She says it won't take the pain Waffles away, but it might change my attitude about it.

Still, I'd like to figure out how to stick Waffles inside this little bottle. He needs to Fel-AWAY. Far, far away.

AmazeCats 2nd Round - Vote for ALLIE or ODIN Today!
Thanks to your votes, lots of our friends made it into the 2nd round of Next Top Cat. Today you have a touch decision in front of you. Both of our friends Allie and Odin are in the same clowder. You've got to vote!  ...but you're going to have to choose. Voting starts first thing on Wednesday and goes through 2pm EST Thursday.

Our voting day isn't until Wednesday. But today you better start drawing straws.

  1. I was surprised I did not see Waffle's face in that Feliway diffuser, Katie! I don't know what my human and I are going to do about tomorrow's AmazeCats bracket either!

  7. Let us know if feliway makes Waffles disappear, because Newton would like to use some on Ashton. She totally hogs the best spots on the bed.

  8. Good luck with the Feliway. Connie, on her foster kitty blog, had a great post some months back about it, and about the erroneous expectations (perhaps erroneous marketing?) around it.

Two other things to consider: The Vetri-Science Composure treats (I can't say whether they help Derry at all, but I give them to both Nicki and Derry every day anyway), and PetAlive.com's PetCalm -- homeopathic granules you can give directly or sprinkle on food. (There are other homeopathic products for things like aggression, etc.) I put some in Derry's canned every day. Again, I can't say for sure that helps with his general nervousness, but the UTI-Free I give him daily too *does* help immensely. So I would recommend their products. The Composure treats can be found at various on-line shops like HealthyPets.com. There's also the PetNaturals calming treats, though their product has half the active ingredients that the Vetri-Sciences one have.

  9. I hope you have better luck w/those than we did. We got 'em to help ease Sasha's ... whatever her problem is ... so she'd stop peeing in the dining room! *sigh* We stuck 'em EVERYWHERE. Mom&DadKatt don't think they did one blasted thing to help her - now she's on happy meds in her ears every day ...

    Purrz!

PS - Katie, nice to see you get a blog entry TO YOURSELF girl ... ;-)

  11. We had Feliway plugged in all over our house a while back when our cats were fighting. It helped to an extent. Good luck with Waffles, Katie :-)

  19. Hi Katie, there's a canine version of this stuff too. I think that it was DAP something. You could spray it onto a bandanna and then tie that around our necks (not too tight) and it was supposed to calm the wearer down. Didn't really work for us :)

  20. Well, hello there Katie...nice to see you again! Have A Wonderful Day! XO

  21. Mom tried these when Mauricio was spraying all over the house before our other two males, Madison and MacKenzie, went to the RB. They didn't phase him. He'd just spray those too. Hope they give you the happies Katie. Brothers can be such a pain. 29. Miss Katie you are looking especially lovely.
Did you get a spa day?

  30. Not a major fan of drugging my cats but vet suggested a digested milk protein to chill out my anxious wee furball and I'm a convert as it has been excellent for him.

I blogged his progress if this is of any use from his first dose http://pepsimaxaddict.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/vet-visit-and-chemical-chill.html to day 18 http://pepsimaxaddict.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/zylkene-trial-days-9-18.html. He is still receiving this at a half dose a day and he adores it in salmon lik-e-lix. Although it looks like diarrhoea to me he is apparently a connoisseur rejecting the chicken variety which looks revoltingly similar.

  31. I hope you have good luck with the feliway! All it did for us was make Leo more bold.. Star remained.. well, it rhymes with itch.

  32. "Classic Katie" is absolutely right. That little interloper was getting a bit much. That Woman tried that "feeling away" stuff but we still fought like, well, like cats.

    We love seeing your face

  35. I think that photo of you looking at the Feliway would make a mighty fine ad. The Feliway people ought to take a gander at it. (Yeah, I said GANDER.)

  36. My kitty Monkey was really helped by Feliway and when it would run out, he would get grumpy again! I hope it helps you feel more relaxed Katie!!

  37. Dearest Katie
Felway did not work for us. The best thing for us has been the Pet Naturals of Vermont’s Calming treats!
Yous should read my post on them. (http://catfromhell.wordpress.com/2012/02/09/rumpy-dog-and-a-review/) They Works!!!
If yous would like to do a review, let Mommy know she will tells yous who to gets a hold of) UNFORTUNATELY Mommy can't gets them in Canada and we is on Wordpress so they can't sponsor us)- yet..we is hording our supply.
    Kisses Nellie

  39. Katie, you need to be on billboards! We tried that not long after Ateret figured out Abbi was no longer temporary and the two of them fought just the same. Please let us know how that goes.
